Why does finding an apartment have to be this hard? The landlords don't respond 50% of the time, and the other 50% of the time, the apartment is gone before I can even tour it.
It’s because most of the real estate is controlled by old people, and they are not usually tech savvy so they miss emails / notifs and have trouble using zillow. They will have tons of applicants so it’s not like they need to have their eyes glued to replies. Good luck🤞

Well that’s odd, i wouldn’t have expected that 20 to 30 year olds were the landlords. I have no idea about your particular situation but trying to communicate with 20 to 30 year olds is even worse than old people, so you hit the hammer on the nail right there.
The landlords are almost always companies, not private owners, and the people are employees. The private owners reply quick, but their places are almost always taken very quick.
We'll if I were you I would Submit your application first to get pre-approved before scheduling a tour putting you at the top of the pile. Also I would Set Up Direct Alerts & Call lease office Immediately, don't wait for chat replies, or focus on private landlords.
Sometimes they also contact me multiple days after(this was Thursday -> Saturday). I've already made plans for the time you want.
Another "fun" one, on Thursday, when I was on the way to a tour, they told me that someone walked off with the keys, and asked to reschedule. I offered another time and it took them 3 days to respond again.
There was also the one I was first to tour but someone had applied without even seeing it so they got it.
Someone got $10m to give to me? I'll sell better apartments and not do all this BS.
In my country, it is easier to get an apartment. Maybe, because, our real estate sector is six-times of our GDP :)
