Photos from the eclipse here in sunny England, near Reading. The sun seemed brighter and the light seemed more like twilight and the sun. I reckon if I’d been wearing glasses or had a camera with polariser this photo would have looked more eclipsish. Nonetheless it incredible.
The light does go strange during the eclipse. I was out observing it.

I don't know the physics, but it is odd. Maybe something to do with the low light level whilst the sun is still fairly high up. Not something you can capture properly in a photo.

Years ago, I was driving the library bookmobile when the Pacific Northwest had a partial eclipse. After a stop to make a delivery at an assisted living facility, I paused to look and listen. The songbirds were singing evening songs, and the dimness, though slight, was strange.
The same kind of thing here the other day. Poor birdies were confused!

No power throughout the area where I live, not enough water, and the weather is like hell. These nights are darker than usual.
I’m experiencing the “normalization” of poverty in this country—dark and with little hope.
At least it's charged my phone.

😂 I can relate as it's already a normal thing around here.
Some NEPA guys came around last year about this electricity issue, saying they had a solar farm and would be switching our whole community to solar power. Guess what—we haven't seen light since, and while other communities still get electricity once in a while, for us it's just darkness every night.
Most of us are regretting that we took the offer 😩

This is a problem that has been going on for decades, but it's just power outages of up to 7 hours every day, every day.

Your community should look for away to solve it. Because power outage denies people from getting to their goals... It's not right.

We've been complaining, but it's going to take much longer before the electricity from the solar farm reaches our area. Most people are speculating that it's because it's been raining for two months, and that's the downside of solar. Still, we're thinking of going back to the general electricity. It's not being stable is what's making people reluctant to fight for it. In fact, most who can afford a solar panel on their roof have gotten one, and only a few are left waiting on the NEPA electricity 😩.
We also have our personal solar panel, but our battery has become relatively close to its grave. Even though we recharge it, it just can't store anything. We're planning to get some batteries, but that will take a bit longer if I'm in my dad's shoes 😩.
Okay, you guys should do everything possible to solve it.
So sad. Here also same issue with long blackouts.
