I've seen all types of designs for hammocks sold here and some don't even require a tree to hang. Perhaps this has something to do with the issue. People putting their weird hammocks over hard surfaces could be the source of the problem, but I'm just speculating 🙃

i was reading about a woman made paraplegic as it was attached to a brick chimney and the chimney collapsed. Honestly I worry every time I get in one. I love them but I'm not risking my life...yet they seem so benign ... But never trust a hammock..
That's a tragic story. Maybe hammocks need a detailed manual. To be honest, I've done silly things in hammocks like wrapping myself in it and having my friends twist me so I can rapidly untwist myself usually with hilarious outcomes. 😅
So have we all! I never thought it'd result in death or injury though....
