Has anyone used Zypto's integration with Hive? I downloaded the app, but I was very wary when asked for the "master password," which in this case would be the owner key? Active key?
Is it reliable? Or would it be better to create a shiftrox.zypto to leave resources in it?
I tried to create a new account and use the master password provided by PeakD but that didn't work, nor did the owner key. Waiting for them to figure out stuff, last communication with them didn't give me any timeline or anything.
I had the same problem, I think they didn't realize that peakD has different formatted master passwords and their app doesn't think they are valid.
Hopefully they accept keys soon!
I see, there must still be some problem, I guess. I'll create an alternate account just to link it and I'll run some tests to see if there are any problems or not.
To be fair it's no different than entering your master password into keychain.
We 'trust' that the version we get from the extension store is infact what is available open source, the biggest difference is that keychain offers opensource version so you can compile it yourself.
Hmm, I see, that's very interesting, I didn't know that detail. I haven't had time to test it yet, but I want to create an alt account just for zypto so I can test the whole process.
Never share owner/active… safer to create a fresh wallet just for testing.
I think so too... it's risky to put the master key in an app.
Pending testing this weekend... I think I know what was failing on their end...
Just didn't have the time to help.
I want to test it this weekend too, but I'm going to use a high-level account, I'm not going to use my master key or activate it. Better not to risk it haha
I have created a separate account too, its a good practice. I have @forky.zypto
Good, I'll do the same, I've made up my mind, I think it's for the best.
You might have complications with the master password. I will try to post my experience today.
I've been busy yesterday and today, but I want to take a look at your post and your experience.
Energy ran out yesterday. I am building the post but haven't yet finished... will depend on energy again :D
When I get ready to try Zypto out, I’m going to treat it like a preloaded debit card — I will create an account just for that to connect with a Zypto wallet… not thinking of putting the master password of the real deal out like that! This is still too new!
I feel the same way. I don't think I'll risk my main account, even though I don't think there's anything wrong with their app. But you never know what might happen, so it's better not to take any chances.
I don't think there's anything wrong with their app either -- but the company could be sold or go bankrupt, and at that point all assets are up for grabs! At this moment in history, it pays to think ahead!
Exactly, it's a good point to think about, like if there's a problem in the future, it could be really bad.
I am often chided by my friends for not letting things happen spontaneously ... thinking too far ahead ... but I've been through enough in business and investing to know that what can go wrong often will!
maybe use a secondary Hive account which you can create for free just to be safe
I'm going to do just that, create an alt account and test it with a few resources, so it's easier to understand how everything works and I still have some security.
I have integrated hive with Zypto. You need one of their own wallets first in which you integrate hive so it is like having wallet inside a wallet.
That's interesting. I'll think about it, but I think I'll create a separate account to run my tests and see how this integration works.
Totally that’s the best way to go I concur
That's right, thank you!
Keep your master key safe. It Shouldn't be used when you aren't sure. Better safe than sorry.
I totally agree with that! I'm not going to risk my main account, I'll create another one and then I'll do my tests with it.
That's the best option. 😉
I hope this zypto thing would work because I know my friends here on Hive are looking for something that would bridge their hive wallet onto a local wallet we use here in the Philippines and currently there is none
I also hope it works. I think it will be very good and has everything it needs to succeed, but I'm going to try it with a new account, an alt, so as not to risk my main one.
