That's a freeing realization. You can control how you show up, but you can't control whether someone chooses to appreciate it
So I kept doing what I could, but I stopped trying to earn their approval.
And sometimes that's the healthiest next step: give what you genuinely can, communicate what you need, and stop destroying yourself trying to prove that you're enough
