How many leadership books are sitting on your shelf right now? How many podcasts are queued in your library? For many high-achievers, there is a frustrating gap between knowing what great leadership looks like and living accordingly.
We understand the concepts, we nod along with the good advice, but when it is time to act—whether in the meeting, in the conversation with our team, or at home with our family—we default to old habits. This is the knowing-doing gap, and it is where our leadership potential often gets lost.

Why? Because implementation is hard. That is why you need a powerful reason to do the things you are doing. For some, it is realizing that the pain and shame of stagnation have finally outweighed their fear of change. For others, it is the desire to become the kind of leader their family, team, or community truly needs.
What Does it Take to Bridge That Gap?
Do not make the mistake of waiting for the “perfect” moment. Take the first step. Begin practicing with one small leadership habit today. That is how you start to bridge your knowing-doing gap and how you grow into the confident, authentic leader you want to be. As Chris Robinson says, “Learn a little bit, do a little bit.”
The reality is that it is not about consuming more strategies but about acting differently and being consistent. Real transformation happens in the small, daily actions. Do you want to bridge the knowing-doing gap? Start with these practical tips to empower your growth:
- Catch yourself before reacting out of frustration.
- Notice the triggers that sabotage your confidence or influence.
- Choose a response that reflects the leader you want to be, even when it feels uncomfortable.
That is the shift from being a passive consumer of leadership ideas to becoming an active practitioner of leadership habits. Let me know—in your own leadership growth, do you find it hard to put into practice what you learn?

We aren't born leaders so no one owns a manual on leadership. We all learn and perfect it here. If you don't take the step. Nothing happens.
I don't think there is A manual, but we can learn from those who are doing a good job as leaders. At least that is what I try to do. But I I agree with you in that we have to take the step and perfect it every day. Thank you very much for reading and for your comment.
Best regards!
