Ecency Website and Desktop app just got huge improvements and new integrations such as Keychain, Medium style image zooming, Twitter embeds and other structural changes. Read on to learn more detailed explanation of each change below.
What's new
- Keychain integration, you can now use extension to easily login and perform operations. On desktop app, it won't be visible but for website if extension exist, it will offer option to login with Keychain. We now have standard login with keys, hivesigner login and keychain login. Don't forget we have easiest signup as well, just enter email and username of your desire that's it.
- Medium style image zooming effect that we think you will love, check it out. Click on images in any post and you will see what we are talking about. It makes images more standing out and appeal to your audience or readers.
- Twitter embeds, now posts with twitter links will show embedded tweets.
- Bigger and better fonts to allow reading without straining your eyes.
- Better failover and retry mechanism for server connections, which makes page loads much stable and faster.
- Comments loading improvements, now comments will only show by default when you are logged in. If no user is logged in, posts will have button to show comments, not show automatically.
- Community bridge operations fetching improved.

For Desktop app update, there is 2 choices either download new version from https://desktop.ecency.com or wait until next week, when we opensource new codebase, current version you are running would offer you auto update with single click within application. For Website, all you have to do is refresh/reload page and you will receive updates right away.

@ecency, is there an advantage of using the Ecency desktop rather than Ecency on the web? I'm using the Ecency on the web now, and I'm thinking of having the software installed. However, I can't help but ask this.
Difference is not much because both uses same software, only desktop might be bit more faster in some cases because it uses separate process while web browser if you have many tabs open, other tabs might affect performance of others.

Can we get more universal support for embeds?
What do you mean by universal support? Each application chooses what embed to support, given security concerns, we review and check each new embed before implementing.
For videos, I used a variety of video hosting sites but only YouTube and LBRY work well.
Namely BitTube would be a great addition if universal support for embeds is not as easy saud as done.
I always just assumed iframes could be used but if it is a security concern that explains why it says unsupported when I try to embed BitTube videos.
Yes, not all iframes are secure. So before we whitelist any domain, we check their reputation and security to make sure our users won't be affected. I have added bittube to list for checking.

just go and start your own social media blockchain independently. hive has no difference to that old steemit thing. I mean the rewards are so low you cannot even buy a musshy thing lmao.
The new font type is not so pretty. I like the old ecency font.
