In this post, I will share an experience from when I visited and explored my mini garden, which is filled with various types of plants and fruits.
This is my garden, located in Cot Kruet Village, Peudada District, Bireuen Regency, but the location of this garden is quite far from my house. The journey to this garden takes around 40 minutes, and we also have to pass through many steep and extreme uphill roads. Fortunately, the road conditions are already paved.
Actually, the size of this garden is not very large, but rather than letting this land become abandoned, I prefer to make use of it by planting various types of plants, vegetables, and fresh fruits. As soon as I arrived at this garden, I immediately parked my motorcycle around the main area, and after that, I began exploring the garden.
This is my garden, but my uncle is the one who takes care of it, and the harvest from every plant and fruit in this garden will be divided equally between us.
Here, we can find several types of banana trees, but the most popular one here is Pisang Ayam, or more commonly known as Barangan bananas. This particular banana is very popular in my area because it has a sweet and rich flavor, a fragrant aroma, and a soft texture.
In my opinion, coconut trees are one of the trees that should not be overlooked when planting. Coconut trees are also known as the “tree of a thousand uses” because almost every part of the tree can be utilized. However, the most important thing is that coconuts contain very refreshing water and delicious, energy-rich flesh.
Imagine that a young coconut can have a fairly high price, but we do not need to buy one because we have plenty of coconuts available in our own garden.
Here, we can also find bottle gourds that are quite large in size. I do not know much about plants like these because my uncle is the one who plants and takes care of them 😅 .Sometimes, I just come here to have a look around.
Sometimes, there are some plants that are intentionally grown not only to be sold, but also to provide a sense of satisfaction, especially to support our family's daily needs and help reduce expenses. For example, chili peppers. One kilogram of chili peppers can be quite expensive, but now we do not need to buy them at such a high price anymore because we can harvest them from our own garden. Even though the amount is not very large, at least it is enough to meet our daily needs.
Here, we can also find starfruit trees whose fruits have a very sour taste. However, this fruit is also used as a main ingredient in several types of dishes, and the taste of starfruit itself is something that simply cannot be separated from the palate of Acehnese people.
I don't know what kind of seeds are being sown under the pile of coconut palm fronds. Most likely, they are chili seeds.
To be honest, there are so many different types of plants, vegetables, and trees in this garden. We can also find several papaya trees, jackfruit trees, and even cacao trees.
In my area, this fruit is called Trueng, but I don't know what this fruit is called in other regions. What I do know is that this fruit belongs to the gourd family. This particular fruit has a very unique shape, with an elongated form and a surface that has sharp ridges or angles.
