RE: Just Boxes and Broken Things

in Inner Blocks2 years ago

Powerful post. And so many ideas. We are for sure victims of compartmentalization. I think we cannot escape it, even if we convince ourselves that is a problem from the west of a modern era problem. But from the start, I would argue, people compartmentalized things, food-not food, safe-unsafe, etc.

But it is once we realize that we are doing this, that we can change things.

And like you said, it is about opening those boxes and not pushing them into the dark corners and trying to forget them.

And that is how we grow, and that is how you said you grew as well. Personal growth is the most important thing to help us open those boxes.

Hi @fermentedphil. I appreciate you dropping by!

Thoughful piece!

I'm glad you think so.

Nothing could beat personal issues and grief when it comes to realigning the trajectory for personal growth. The most obvious boxes that need immediate attention can be easily identified during the grieving stage, yet somehow it also feels like there are still other 'boxes' in those same dark corners that are demanding the same amount of acknowledgement and attention.

Compartmentalization have proven itself to be quite useful in this case. While I can't fully say that I'm completely out of the woods yet, I'd like to think that publishing this thought vomit of an article is an indicator that I am pacing myself, and that I am making considerable progress in shedding light on things that need to be given attention to.

I hope things are good on your end. Ciao!

realigning the trajectory for personal growth

Exactly, right? But sometimes the boxes that demand the most emotional vulnerability and energy are the ones that make the most progress regarding personal growth. Even if it feels like it is the hardest thing you will be doing in your life.

thought vomit

I like that idea! I also call it verbal/textual diarrhea. It can really help. Channeling those thoughts and feelings into words and something "tangible" can really help. And as you mention, it can really shine a light on the things that need attention.

Best of luck! Progress/personal growth is never easy but almost always worthwhile.

Thanks @fermentedphil! I hope you stay tuned for my next episodes of verbal/textual diarrhea.

I will certainly do that! I am looking forward to it. One can always learn about yourself in the musings of others. It seems to function as a type of mirror. Thank you for sharing!
