Who would have guessed? (we would have!)
When a large group of people set up in tents in a field next to the woods, snake encounters are more likely than when those people are sitting in their houses. We found a few snakes during Sukkot, and heard of some that we were unable to locate. At one point a girl said she had seen two snakes in a certain area. I was quickly over there searching, and found our first Black Rat Snake of the week.
Thankfully, Black Rat Snakes are not venomous and don't really pose a threat to humans, but some people just don't like snakes, so we caught it to move it farther away from the camp. I snapped a few photos of it after the capture. It wasn't that long as far as rat snakes go, but it's still a nice sized snake. Enjoy the photos.
