RE: HODL 1st Contest ! More than 40 USD in prizes 🎁

in HODL4 years ago

@steemitcuration from uk.
I got into crypto about 4 years ago give or take. My first venture was in a platform that turned out to be a scam but made a bit of money. Second third and forth were also scams but i managed to get in and out with profit. Eventually stummbled across steem which i bought at 3$ 2$ and kept buying all the way down to around 15c just to bring my cost average down.
Everyone i have mentioned it to and explained how it works and its tokenomics etc outside of crypto has called it a ponzi scheme. Hard to argue that really.
I had pretty much given up on the platform and was almost even 'investment wise' and i was happy.
Then came along tribes which i managed to make money on. Once again a failed experiment and absolutely useless.
I bought in everyone i heard of at launch and with the fomo always around the corner sold at highs anyone buying in now? No idea why.
This had really got me back on track and i was more than happy to powerdown all acc and call it a day.
Then came the JS saga. I decided to powerdown and hold liquid with a obviuos fork from day one even though there was no real mention of it.
That happened and everyone doubled there money.
Once again held tight with liquid as others became heros by powering up.
Sold at 60c 70c 80c. Withdrew most and gambled the rest👍
So what now?
Well another fork coming which could be actually good. Remains to be seen.
Hive will dump.
Steem will pump short term.
Is there any future for either.
Absolutly because people dont want to let go of the illusion of power they have and the hold they have over others being a whale.
The lil fish will always give the whales an ego boost by tagging them in post makjng them feel special.
So yeah it will continue for a long time.
Will it ever be mainstream?
No.
Should projects like this be funded?
Yes but they wont.
I admire your effort and wish you all the success.
Please dont take my comment(essay) as nothing more than just being honest.
Not one negative statement in all the comments which we all know aint the truth so just thought i would bring some equality to the question.❤

lol. this was good. your honest reply is very insightful!

Thank you.
All we can be is honest doesnt cost anything and doesnt require powering up lol

I abandoned Steem because i thought it was going to be MySpaced (people were already referring to it as Myspace, lol.) When JS saga started, i observed how the ETH artists now perceive Hive to be decentralized (with formation of DAO), so i think Hive has a chance if this one thing is taken care of:
New user onboarding and retention.

I have stayed neutral on both and hold same stakes over multiple acc.
I wish i could share your optimism.
I was excited about hive all of 3 mins before reality hit and realised its just a straight copy of steem. Same people incharge doing? Your guess is as good as mine.
We have 80ish devs and so far we have a piss poor copy of steemworld and some other copies which aint even changed steem to hive on there respective dapps.
The dao will be the downfall of hive around 7 people taking appox 1m in a year how long will that last?
No new devs are being funded. Same click taking obsene amounts for litterly nothing.
Try saying something see what happens.
Welcome to decentralisation yay

Most of that is accurate if not all.

Very interesting story and take on the STEEM/HIVE and social media in general.

I would say I can agree with a lot of things being mentioned even if not all.

I believe the value is with individuals putting their skills in service of the community as long as they perceive it will also benefit them.

This is what we saw with HIVE and some games and dapps are coming (not to mention @peakd that improve from an already amazing UI).

Thank you a lot for your comment and I would really love to chat with you on discord or in other community posts.

So join us or follow us in any way.

Hello @steemitcuration,

Thank you, it was actually a very nice story that went sour and came back to a happy ending 😅

I understand some of your comments especially the one below as it is clear that there is some group of people getting most of the $$$ on top...

Well you can make a change and follow our trail since you are powering down 😂.

We are definitely not part of this group of people haha.
