Hello, I am @daltono from West Virginia in USA.

The story of how I got into cryptocurrency. It started mid-2017. I won a contest to the first annual https://www.consciousmediafestival.com/. Upon winning I flew on an airplane for the first time (besides the one time I went skydiving), all the way to Austin, TX. It was there I met many people who were working on blockchain projects. Actually the only other person to win a ticket like myself ended up becoming the social media manager for Holo.

I did not get involved with crypto immediately. It was not until September 2017 that I saw an interview between Giselle Koy and Stan Larimer, he of course mentioned Steemit at the time. Seeing users earn giant payouts for posting got me very interested, yet confused. It took me until December 1st 2017 to actually create my account. After that I have been a daily user ever since. Literally no days off for me and I honestly love it. Earning crypto is really the only way I am able to stack it up, so being able to share things I create on Hive is fundamental.

Thanks to @cmplxty for the tag.

I would enjoy reading stories from @adelepazani, @joetunex, @jeffjagoe, and @patrickulrich about how they got involved with crypto for the first time.

Lol I remember seeing those 4000 dollar posts and dying inside because I was a few months late to the party

It was crazy to see those massive payouts as an outsider, that’s for damn sure. I can only imagine how it was to have been here that early on.

I was late to the party by a little bit more than 1 year.
I registered on the Steem blockchain on 2017.05.17.

Β 5 years agoΒ (edited)Β

Damn that's one hell of a story! I love it, that's definitely a great way to get started lol (is there a typo in the Giselle link? I thought it was Dan Larimer but I could be wrong!)

I've also been a daily user of the blockchain we call home, aside from some days here and there in the beginning and now where things come up but I definitely try to make it on at least once a day, to get curation rewards at least!

I'm at least not the only one who procrastinated a little bit here hehe.

Thanks for the story!

Not a typo, @dan’s father (aka @stan) was actually the one to introduce me to Steemit originally.

Literally the only time I’ve not been on daily is the couple of times the chain haunted. Other than that I’m consistent as they come 😎.

I think we were just timid, I won’t blame it entirely on procrastination. I really wanted to join earlier, I was just having trouble figuring everything out without any assistance.

That's cool, father son business!

Thanks @daltono for the tag interesting crypto journey you've had.
My story coming right up!

Awesome! I look forward to reading yours my friend πŸ‘

Hello @daltono,

That is a truly amazing story and you were blessed to earn about STEEM in the early days :).

It is funny that I just come across you account now as you have been around for a while and looks like a fun person to follow πŸ˜….

Thank you for participating to the contest.

@vlemon

The craziest part was that I won the festival ticket in an instagram giveaway. It was crypto practically pulling me towards it like a magnet.

It looks like we both have failed to discover each other until this very moment. So many accounts, it’s difficult to find all of the great ones.

Indeed, but the most important is to take every opportunity to add them to your special "following" list πŸ˜ƒ.

What a story. I look forward to my own first time of boarding a plane. I hope it will be soon. Its also so amazing to see you have such huge connections. Wow

I hope you get to take flight soon! πŸ›«

Congratulation @daltono

Seriously great comment. Thanks for participating in this contest organized by @hodlcommunity and supported by @project.hope.

I was supposed to upvote your post with 400k HP, however I've been late (for which I'm sorry) and this comment is already days old.

Instead, I will upvote your post "NEW Ghosts of Tsushima footage from Sucker Punch" with our account and curation trail. Which will total >500k HP.

🀩🀩🀩🀩🀩🀩 thank you so much.

Hello, I am @adityajainxds from india,

My friends introduction me to cryptocurrency. It was 2016 I remember I first purchased 1 bitcoin and with that bitcoin I have done some good and bad investmen. 0.5 btc I lost in project that turns to be Ponzi schemes (MLM). But I learned from my mistake. Then I have made investment in ripple most trusted at that time.

Then steem changed my life in 2017 as I found it Luckily browsing, from then I never looked back.

So lastly crypto changed my financial needs as other sources of income. Their are ups and downs, but it's life we have to accept it.

Special thanks @achim03 and @crypto.piotr for rewards.

So sad you got Ponzied bro, Hopefully you have learned pretty much well this lesson. Regards champ!

Hello @adityajainxds,

Thank you for participating in the contest, I am sorry to hear you lost tsuch an amount of money but I am sure you feel blessed to know there is an alternative to the financial world most people know πŸ˜ƒ.

There are indeed ups and downs but overall we shall remain optimistic for our cryptocurrency journey !

Best,

@vlemon

Happy ending is the real deal. Whrn we fall, we rise again. Great story there.

@oredebby thank you so much for stopping by and taking out time for reading my article.

Hi, I am @joetunex from Johannesburg South Africa.

My first encounter with crypto ( Bitcoin ) was in 2015. I had a good relationship with my ex boss Sheldon, he was the kind of boss that wanted he employees succeed. One day he invited all of us his employees to a network seminar and I was the only one of his employees that showed up on that faithful Saturday.

Karatbars was the topic and focus on the seminar that day. Few weeks later Bitcoin emerged as a topic from the network meeting I used to attend every weekend.
I liked this short video that was shared in the meeting The End of Money As We Know It I like the idea of the banks can do nothing to stop it because I HATE the banks after watching Mike Maloney's Hidden Secrete of Money The Biggest Scam In The History Of Mankind

So at that time we were introduced to mining Bitcoin, we invested in a couple of them, the likes of; BTC Flex, Carborn7, and few others I can't recall now. Sadly these companies we invested in were scams. We lost money, and the painful part if I look back is I was able to afford 1 BTC then in 2015-2016 if I knew I should have bought and just seat on it πŸ˜ƒ.

An exciting moment for me was when I ordered my Xapo Bitcoin Debit card and I was able to swipe and spend Bitcoin in the local PnP stores here in SA, the smile on my face was quite a broad one, I felt like a Hero.

So it has been quite a journey I love, I like the idea of decentralization and I believe if blockchain and cryptocurrency is well utilised it can alter the course of humanity for the better.

Thanks @daltono and @chekohler to tagging me.

I'm keen on @rynow and @silvertop's first encounter story

Awesome story! You got started early. It's great that you are having success using your crypto in the real world.

Thanks Dalton, the real world use case really got me excited.
Good luck with the contest.

Hello @joetunex,

What a story, as most of us yo were there early and as most of us you missed many opportunities but you caught some other ones didn't you?

Thank you for participating and I will definitely check your link from Mike Maloney's Hidden Secrete of Money The Biggest Scam In The History Of Mankind

I hope to see you around as you seem like a nice person to interact with.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Many thanks @vlemon, you are right, I was part of the early ones but unfortunately lost the opportunity as well.

The hopeful thing though is we are still in the infancy stage of cryptocurrency/blockchain and being on Hive is an opportunity I'm not taking for granted.

I'm sure we be seeing each other around here. keep well πŸ™‚

That sounds like something out a movie sorry to hear you got scammed but just shows how much you believe in the space!

It was a sad experience but getting to learn the basics about Bitcoin have got me to have a bit of understanding and not to invest in things that looks too good to be true.

I must say you started on a big note and early too. So sorry for what you lost, its like that everywhere in the crypto world. Many people regrettedto buying bitcoin at that early time but its all good. Things will sure get better.

Thanks @oredebby, I feel we are in Hive early and there is a lot to benefit if we stick around longer without looking for immediate result.

Congratulation @joetunex

Hello, I am Oreoluwa Debby and I'm popularly called @oredebby as that is also my username. I'm from Nigeria and Ibadan, Oyo state to be precise.

Well from the onset, I knew nothing at all about crypto not until December, 2017 that one of my cousins came visiting. I noticed he was always with his phone and transacting. I wondered where he was getting such money from and then I asked him. He smiled and sat me down and told me about "steemit" and how it works on the blockchain. I was confused and didn't really understand and my main question was "Who is paying the money?" He laughed and said "Even if the money is from the sky, he doesn't care so far he was getting paid" 😁 This was so funny the way he said it and my mum was also there at that time and she said I should better be careful with all these internet stuff.

Few days passed after Christmas and then we were preparing for the new year when I finally made up my mind to join. I finally started steemit on the 3rd of January, 2018. It wasn't so easy at first because I didn't get the upvotes as much as he explained. But I got so close to few friends like @olawalium who made me believe so much in this and then I took it upon myself that no matter what, I won't quit. It went on and on like that and I joined some groups and communities where I got to know more about cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avinoc, EOS and few more. And now hive, I'm still here and standing. Yippyyy

I say a big THANK YOU to @achim03 and @crypto.piotr for their help to bring this contest to the Hive Community. More grease to your elbow.

Hello @oredebby,

Very nice story and I hope you understand better now where this money comes from, I guess from the sky as FIAT money right ?

STEEM and now HIVE has always been about the community and the people we meet, money is just an added benefit (a great one I have to say).

Thank you for sharing and we hope to see you around.

Hive on !

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Smiles... Sure I understand better now. Thanks very much.

It has been nothing but pure joy knowing you. I admire your energy, resilience and dedication to making the best and giving your best. You deserve the best, dear.

Smiles... Thank you Mentor

Hahahaha. I am humbled.

Interesting story, good luck with your entry.

Thanks a lot

It is good you bought the idea and joined. So far i can say the journey has been good for you, cos you did good on steemit. Wishing you all the best here too. Nice contest, great initiative

Thank you so much sis. We win together.

Good story i hope you win

Thanks

Thanks so much @crypto.piotr.

Hi, I'm @achim03 from Switzerland

I'm kind of an old dog in the crypto world. My first contact with Crypto currencies was in 2014. At that time Bitcoin was traded for 200 USD.

I was dealing before with a german based virtual currency called Klammlose. I found the concept inspiring but unfortunately the founders of these Klammlose produced a huge inflation. One day per chance I found an ad for a btc faucet. It was love on first sight. These faucets were giving away crypto for free! I loved the fact that I had only to enter a wallet address to get these coins. Nothing similar was available anywhere else and I immediately saw the potential of cryptos.

At the time when I claimed from a faucet I recieved around 2000 satoshis ;-). I learned and built my own crypto faucets. I have distributed around 4 BTC to users from all over the world with my faucets.

Hello @achim03, nice to have a Swiss there πŸ˜ƒ,

Wow, you are a true Bitcoin OG ! Very nice story with ups and down !

Did you keep some of these BTC πŸ˜„ ?

Best,

@vlemon

Did you keep some of these BTC πŸ˜„ ?

I managed to keep some for myself and part of it is still in btc, another part in Steem, Hive and also in Steemmonsters cards ;-)

Nice job !

Wow that's awesome!

And how has the faucet business worked out for you? Is it easy to create one? How do you keep it profitable?

Hi @chekohler,

Since I was among the first ones providing faucets, it was quite lucrative because at the time, I even had Google adsense to finance my faucets. One day all faucet owners got kicked out and since then it became more and more difficult to break even. In the last two years, many users have turned to bots to claim from faucets which makes it almost impossible to cover the costs.

The business concept is quite simple. You offer a small amount in coins to the users and you put ads and links on your website. If you calculate well, you will earn more from the clicks and views of these ads than you pay to the users. But this doesn't work with automated claims from bots because they don't click anything ;-). I more or less gave up this business because it was a tiresome fight banning IP's and putting in many safeguards so that bots couldn't empty your balance over night.

Interesting story. I’m also in CH.

Nice to meet some other swiss here ;-)

Congratulation @achim03

I'm @chekohler - From Cape Town, South Africa

My first run-in with crypto was back in 2016, someone told me about this Bitcoin thingy and said I should try buying some, so I purchased it on an exchange and then sent it to a wallet, a desktop wallet on my laptop and it took ages for the transaction to go through for some reason I think it was 30 mins and I was freaking out did I get the address wrong, checking the block explorer and seeing no confirmations I couldn't understand it, naturally it was a small transfer so it sat in the mempool for a while but for a noob, it was nerve-wracking.

I honestly didn't think much about it at first and I left it in the wallet for some time and then we got the run fo 2017 and I really took note and lost my mind thinking I was going to strike it rich, lol I didn't but it was fun

I think

Would be keen to share their first crypto story

Bit of a boys club here @katrin-lux why not share your story

Yeah why Not i think my Story would Not be that exciting but for the beginning i really had some funny Moments with this Crypto Thing.. i think i will make a Post too ;)

Lol I think we all building a story of our own, keen to hear yours! Please tag me in your comment or post so I don’t miss it

lol I wish mine was as glamorous!

You’re American you guys can take any lame ass story and turn it into a blockbuster come on

Hahah and from America we get the movie Fast and furious 8. Plot line died a long time ago!

LOL I saw the trailer for fast 9 the other day I literally coudln't stop laughing, the amount of shitfuckery going on in this franchise its insane

Many thanks @chekohler for the tag, my story will follow shortly πŸ™‚

Hello @chekholer,

Great story, I hope not too much regret "I should have bought more" etc...

You aren't riche... YET ! The next Bull Run is coming ! Can you feel it :)

Best,

@vlemon

Oh there has been many new chapters to this story from losing crypto and getting hacked to making all time highs on random shit coins lol it’s a crazy ride from the beginning

Will do Tomorrow.

Well get on it, I want to hear your story

Done!

I can imagine how it was for you when your first time transaction is taking too long. Lol. Now you can play ball after some years.

Lol now I have nerves of steel nothing phases me anymore

Hello, I am @moeknows from the US

I guess you could say it started with Facebook. One of my friends happened to be an outspoken anarchist and capitalist. In one of his threads, a buddy of his was trying to get him into bitcoin. I can't remember when exactly that was, but bitcoin was around 2k back then. I didn't have any money to invest, but I was curious and asked questions.

Eventually the friend invited both of us to an anarchist crypto group on Facebook. I'm not an anarchist but I was interested in crypto. I basically lurked in the group for a while. I saw them debate Ripple and Litecoin and others. The first crypto I ever owned was an ERC 20 token one of the people in the group created.

One day, they were discussing Steem. They said you didn't have to invest anything to earn, so I jumped in and I've been here ever since. I haven't always been really focused on earning, and sometimes I regret that, but I can say that this blockchain has given me a much more thorough understanding of crypto than almost all of my IRL peers.

I'm happy to have been onboard for the majority of the history here. I look forward to the changes to come.

Dear @moeknows,

Quite different and interesting story. Through the anarchist door to Steem and then to the Crypto Space.

Anyway nice to have you around :).

Thank you for sharing,

@vlemon

Hi I'm @cmplxty from Boston, Taxachus..I mean Massachusetts

Interestingly enough, I had first learned about crypto back in 2017 from a YouTube guy that used to post on here @lifttheveil411. He would always shill (not really, just talk about it and try to get people interested lol) about crypto and this website "Steemit" where you could earn crypto on it. I was naturally intrigued but also naturally a damn American. Did I jump on it when he told me to? Nope, it only took me 6 months before I actually made the account lol, in typical procrastinating American style. I signed up and took 2 weeks but eventually got an account and on here is where I earned my very first crypto. A few weeks later, I made an account on a major exchange from the UK (try to guess) and bought some Litecoin. I participated in the FOMO a bit before I came to my senses and started to hodl.

Thanks @chekohler for the tag! Fun little contest. Perhaps let's see if @daltono can share his story?

Great story! Thanks for tagging me, I am writing my own reply to this post now.

Lol listening to that slow start I'm surprised you stuck around this long, so many people have given up since the last bull run its shocking, but hey theres gotta be some suckers to dump my bags on I suppose

I know lol a friend of mine gave up because he's even more American than me but wasn't even born here. He really took to the American way to not do anything unless you get moon returns.

Lol immigrates tend to overcompensate it’s the same with people who find it switch religions! I guess it’s not a bad thing more Sats for us to stack

Hello @cmplxty,

Thank you for sharing and I can completely relate to the procrastination you are talking about. Unfortunately, I also relate to the FOMO you are mentioning πŸ˜„

Well it seems you stayed on Steem and Hive for the community in the end, and this is what matters.

I do also believe Buy and Hold is the most safe way to invest, most traders go broke ! :)

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hello, I'm @miguelbaez, from Tachira, Venezuela.
My history in the world of cryptocurrencies begins in 2017, as you already know in my country there are great economic difficulties due to the government and hyperinflation, I decided to save my money in bitcoin at that time and it was one of the best things that I have done, since the money would not be devalued.
In 2018 I discovered steemit at that time I saw it as an excellent site to publish my poems, since I dedicate myself to writing poems.
Over time I have learned a lot about cryptocurrencies since I have taken the time to read about it every day. Now I am very happy to belong to this community and eager to know what will happen after the bitcoin halving.
Thank you for taking this project forward, I hope that everything goes well for you and you have many successes.

Hello @miguelbaez,

Thank you for sharing and believe me, in the cryptoworld we are quite happy that this technology can serve as a lifeline to so many people around the world.

Everybody needs to unite against tyranny and theft !

Thank you for sharing,

Sincerely,

@vlemon

If you are absolutely right we must unite to get out of this tyranny and the great robbery they commit
Thank you for creating this contest. I will be aware of all these days of the winner.

We also love your posts man. It's good to see you here

I've followed Miguel since the beginning, he's an excellent writer. Good luck and blessings. He has gone through a lot to get here, and we are very happy to enjoy his content.

Good luck.

Hello, I am @jacuzzi, born in the USA but living in Vietnam now.

My first exposure to cryptocurrency was when I was working in a video game company.

This had to be at least two or 3 years before the big crypto boom happened. I worked as a concept artist,

My boss his name is Lucas, he had a mining rig setup in the office. He had it set up so every time he mine a Bitcoin it would make a cash register noise.

That thing would chhing once or twice a day I remember. One time ask him about what he was doing and he gave me an explanation that confused the hell out of me... But got me thinking.

Years later I dove into crypto, and... Kicked my self for not learning more back then lol.

Lucas is now happily retired somewhere last I heard. Myself I'm just trying to rock and roll and catch the next wave before it passes.

:)

Hello, I am @goldmonsters from India.

I would like to explain about my first experience about Cryptos was a news in an Indian website where Cryptos being banned by local Government and the value of Bitcoin and how the people may misuse that along with why Indian Government is banning it.

I just went thru that articles and it made me to explore more on the Cryptos especially Bitcoin and different ways of earning it along with exploring on other Crypto Currencies such as Steem.

The very moment I heard about Steem and steemit and blogging, it fascinated me and that is how I became a Crypto earner and now I earn different coins thanks to different tribes and also my interest in gaming especially Steem Monsters, earns me Crypto for just playing the battles.

I have been trading the cryptos using steem-engine for Splinterlands cards and aim to earn more by investing in different cryptos.

Thanks and Good Luck to all :)

Steem really fascinated a lot of people. Lickily you're still in the business. Hive on.

Thank you @oredebby.

Yes, HIVE is giving me and many additional ways of earning Cryptos and to be frank, I earn more from HIVE blogs than Steemit blogs and it gives me more chances of investment and earning.

Have a Wonderful Day :)

Hello @goldmonsters,

Very nice story. So you started your journey earning some STEEM and playing Splinterlands.

Nice way to start πŸ˜ƒ

Thank you @vlemon and others for voting this.
@splinterlands is a big support in this regard as every blog I post with regards to Splinterlands battles is being supported by them and I just keep investing the Steem and Hive to buy more and more Splinterlands packs and cards in my quest to build nice gold decks for each of the Splinters.

Good day to all and Good luck :)

That is indeed a nice way to move up the ladder through posting about @splinterlands.

They do support players posting original contents ! This is nice :)

Good day to you too !

Thanks again @vlemon :)

Hello? am joe karimi, @joebboy is my username. Am from Nairobi Kenya.

I first heard about crypto from a friend who we met on Facebook @rhondak from the US mid March. She told me how I could share my creative staff there, learn and meet new people.Thanks to @ michelios for delegations he made to me.

Am really looking forward to the contest. Have some friends interested and hope they join hive soon.

Hello @joebboy,

Nice to meet you and your friend is indeed right.

I am happy that you joined HIVE and can't wait until you post more great content.

Best,

@vlemon

Thanks am already enjoying it here

This is a wonderful contest! I'm so glad to see you with an entry here, Joe! :-)

Thanks Kay you always give me the confidence to do all these

How do I get to see your posts??

Hello, I am Raghavendra aka @coolguy123 from India and I am on Steemit for almost 3 years now.

I got introduced to Steemit by a Nigerian student who was looking some help to install Oracle Software and in return, he told about Steemit and that is how I got into Crypto World.

Although, I had heard about Bitcoin by that time, I wasn't much interested in exploring about Bitcoin because of the restrictions we have here in India and we still have restrictions and I just hope that our Government makes it legal some day.

On Steemit I got into many nice Steemians and one fine day when I was still new to Steemit, I got 5K delegation from @fulltimegeek and I got to know that, he had delegated that same amount to many who are trying to help out newcomers by supporting them and also to those who doesn't self vote much..

That was the beginning of my growth as a Steemian and helped me to get noticed by many established Steemians and no looking back afterwards.

Now, on Hive as well, I get to know many new guys everyday and I am an ardent fan of Steem Monsters and keep blogging about the same.

It's been Wonderful 3 years now and I have many sweet memories about many communities and the Cryptos they award.

Looking forward to many discussions on this thread from all of you, Good day friends :)

Hello my dear @coolguy123,

Quite funny that you got introduced to Steemit by a Nigerian student, is he or she still on there?

You were a lucky one to get a nice 5k delegation from @fulltimegeek.

You are a "Splinterlands afficionado", a big fan hahah. You must have a great stack of cards by now !

I am really happy I got to know you @coolguy123.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Thank you @vlemon,

The guy who introduced me to Steemit is by account name @composer and sadly, he is not active since 2018, might be he is busy with his studies..

Yep, I was one of the few luckiest guys to get the encouragement and confidence from that delegation from @fulltimegeek.

Splinterlands has become a part of my daily life nowadays and I keep battling and keeping my fingers crossed for the season end rewards happening in 2 days.

Good to know you and all and happy to be part of this community :)

Good day to all the HODLers and HIVErs :)

Hey everyone, I was tagged by @chekohler on this a couple of days ago and it's been on my to do list, just needed a lot of things to settle down first before I could reply so here goes!

Hello, I'm @nickyhavey from the UK.

I first heard about BTC back in 2012 when I was temp worker from an ex banker who started talking about it and that in "15-20 years time, we'll be using this new currency". I was excited so I researched everything but I couldn't understand any of it as it was written in such complicated language and I didn't know how to buy any of it. I was also a poor Uni student back then with absolutely no money so I mostly moved on.

In 2017, I saw a friend on FB talking about it who is a forex trader and so I asked him for help in December 2017 at BTC's ATH and I was REALLY excited to get my hands on some for the first time! The first things I bought was a Ledger Nano S due to me being anal about security. Then I saw my portfolio drop by 95% in Β£ value in 2018! Yikes!

But, due to the power of hodling, I'm now up by 55% and have continued to put money and time in to building my crypto hodlings - 33% of my money is in various crypto projects and I love it haha. There's never a dull moment in this industry and glad I stuck with it!

Hello @nickyhavey,

Very nice story which must sound familiar to a lot of us πŸ˜….

But most of all, you got the point. Keep learning and DYR ! And now you are in positive territory and probably learned a LOT since 2017 :).

I would love you to post some of this knowledge in our #HODL Community and we would try to support your content as much as we can.

In any case, thank you for sharing.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hey @vlemon! Yes I think I learned a lot the hard way getting in when everything was ATH... you learn a lot faster when you watch your money disappear haha!

I'll do what I can with the posts in your community - I normally post music and sometimes travel but I write beginner's guides for BTC and Hive which will probably be good for the HODL community?

It would be great. Anything related to crypto in any kind of way even music or art. Who knows hehe :)

Hello, I am Kingscrown from planet earth but i rather go to the moon. I got my first bitcoin in 2010 or 2011 for free then got a bunch, sold some at amazing 20 USD (which was 500% profits) and forgot of rest till 2013 and the 200-1000 usd pump. Since then im day trading it and doing my own blogging that finally got me here.

Hello @kingscrown,

Nice to see you there and thank you for sharing your story ! Wow you were there in 2010-2011. Good thing that you forgot about those BTC and did not sell them at 500% profit right πŸ˜‚.

Day Trading is so complicated, I do not know how you do it ^^.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hello, I am @fun2learn from Singapore. I got to find out about cryptocurrency from my older son who was a teenager few years ago. He bought a little Bitcoin and earn a few hundred during the peak of Bitcoin. I felt that Bitcoin was not really safe since I am not one who can adapt to new things readily. I eventually installed the mobile app 'coinomi'. I tried purchasing different types of cryptocurrency using coinomi and managed to earn some money. I had also purchased some ICOs but lost money actually. I joined steem platform on 15 December 2017 and started to learn how to earn through posting. I invested quite a sum of money into steem platform and we know how the price dropped the last two years. I continued to post and earn steem. Now my new venture is on Hive platform and I see potential in it.

Dear @fun2learn,

Interesting that it is your son who introduced you to the CryptoWorld.

I gues syou were relieved to hear about the Fork, maybe you were able to get some money back.

If you would consider to support us, know that we give 90% back to the delegators.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

I did my first delegation on Hive to your community. I have also written a post related to my delegation in the HODL community. Maybe it can bring in a bit of attention from others. Good initiative especially to help the lower income content creators.

Hello, I am @jeffjagoe from Connecticut.

I found out about Bitcoin while I was attending the University of Connecticut in 2012 for a Political Science degree. My roommate at the time (@johnmhudak) was working for the Ron Paul presidential campaign and introduced me to the world of free market, anarcho-capitalism. From there I started following people like Jeff Berwick (@dollarvigilante) and @adamkokesh which opened my world to a whole slew of liberty-leaning ideals, including Bitcoin. I was immediately hooked. It just made too much sense. I was instantly an evangelist. I stopped going to class, dropped out of school (I don't regret it yet) and focused my attention on crypto. I discovered STEEM and made an account in Summer of 2016, but did not begin posting regularly until May 2017 (big regret). But I'm glad I made it back... and I'm glad we're here on HIVE.

Thanks for tagging me @daltano!
I'd like to hear the story from @theycallmedan, @dandesign86, @roelandp and @world-travel-pro!

Wow, this is a very interesting story !

Beginning to go down the rabbit hole after working for Ron Paul's campaign. Definitely something's special.

We are glad to have you here with us on HIVE @jeffjagoe and as everyone in the cryptosphere I also have a lot of regrets πŸ˜„.

Can't wait to read the stories of the people you tagged: @theycallmedan, @dandesign86, @roelandp and @world-travel-pro!

Sincerely,

@vlemon

That's wild that you were so ahead of the curve. I was too busy partying like an idiot in 2012.

haha I definitely did my fair share of partying back in college, but when I discovered bitcoin things changed... that being said... I still, to this day, spend way too much of my potential crypto stash on cannabis consumption

This is why you need to get a Dynavap and use waaaay less flower than when smoking. Plus you can use the ABV to make edibles that you can then eat or recirculate for a return πŸ’Έ it’s a no-brainer. I’d start with the 2020 M.

I saw your vid and was definitely interested. I've got a Storz & Bickel Volcano that I use most often... along with a PLENTY (that I rarely use) and a Puffco Peak that has been out of commission for a while. Still crush a solid oz of flower per week lol. But the volcano bags get holes after a few weeks of usage... I'm always open for more fun tools.

I'm loaded on AVB right now, last time I tried to cook with coconut oil after a week of water curing and completely failed. The buds just soaked up the oil like a sponge. Do you have a go-to technique?

image.png

I’ve never cooked with ABV. I’m going to be very hesitant to risk it once I have a giant bag like that. There is no other use for it though since I don’t smoke.

I legit only go through an 1/8 every 30 days. I do not show much restraint when it comes to not using my Dynavap either. Anytime I feel the need, I do it. The little thing just uses so little. I love the whole procedure too.

Wow ! this conversation seems so "weird" for a European hahaha. I did not get half of the acronyms and words such as ABV, Dynavap...

I guess I will find out once it is legalized over there πŸ˜ƒ

** Hello, I am @alejandrararita, rarita means that I am a very weird person, I am from Venezuela, my first experience with crypto was in 2015, my friend Rafael told me that if I wanted to save my money for the devaluation, the BTC could help me So, I bought etherium and a bit of BTC in my country with more inflation in the whole world, we Venezuelans have to find a way to save our money, because our currency is very unstable.
Now with this technology I can help my family from home,sometimes it is difficult to overcome all situations , I am a lawyer and my husband is a dentist but with our work we cannot pay the basic expenses So crypto has been a blessing to my family.I thank the universe by cryptos and by these networks.

In hive I only have 1 week, I'm still adapting to the network, sometimes as in life I make mistakes, but this is how we learn, don't you think?

What I liked about esteem is that teamwork is cultivated and appreciated. a beautiful way to connect and see life.

Hello @alejandrararita,

Very nice story confirming what many of tus know: Cryptocurrencies can help individuals when governments mess up ! And I am so sorry about the Venezuelan situation, used to be such a thriving country.

I think, by already participating to some contests, you are doing a great job πŸ˜ƒ !

Welcome to the #Hive and I hope to see you around πŸ˜‰.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Thank you, blessings!

Indeed! We are the change world needs

Hi, I am @culgin from Singapore.

My story with cryptocurrencies actually started with the Bitcoin whitepaper. I still remember that it was mid-October 2017. I was doing my usual commute home from work in a MRT train (Singapore's version of a subway). It was probably a financial article that led me to read about Bitcoin. BTC had a massive run since July 2017 to October 2017, from $2000+ to $5000+, and so mainstream media are starting to report about it.

I usually just skim through my reading while I am commuting as it is not the most conducive environment. However, the whitepaper caught my eyes and I read it the second time when I reached home. After reading the whitepaper, I dropped a text to a close group of friends on WhatsApp. I asked, "anyone heard of Bitcoin?". One of them replied that he heard about it years ago but did not think much of it. I then said, "have you read the whitepaper, this is revolutionary."

I did not immediately jump in to buy but I started to read more. The next thing I read was the Ethereum whitepaper and I got even more fascinated by the concepts behind blockchain and cryptocurrencies. After 1 week of intensive reading and research, I decided to nibble a little. My first crypto purchase was actually ETH and not BTC. I bought it from Coinbase (screenshot below) on 23 Oct 2017.

My first crypto purchase

After which the ICO FOMO started, and I read tons of whitepapers from various projects. Sadly, I have a number of failed ICO investments. But those are all valuable lessons to allow me to be in a better state of mind and position now.

My journey in crypto also got me reading about how money works. It is strange that most people do not understand money. How it is created and how it flows. It is only when you understand money, then you can better appreciate Bitcoin and Ethereum. In addition, crypto also got me interested in technical analysis, which was something I did not believe at all previously. Overall, I think I am a much better trader and investor after I got into crypto.

Hello @culgin,

Very interesting story and I imagine you never regretted to browse through this finance article and then towards the Bitcoin Whitepaper.

I can relate to you and the ICO phase, well I believe most lost their hats if not more.

Thank you once more for sharing your story.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

You are welcome! And yes, I have never regretted getting into cryptocurrencies

Hello, this is @loretoyya from Valencia, Venezuela.

I had my first crypto-meeting in a Steemit MeetUp made by @votovzla in the city of "El Tigre" on April 6, 2019 here in my country. I think it has been one of the best events I have attended because I met a lot of users that make life in Steemit (and now here in HIVE), and that I only knew through their publications or through activities in Discord.

In that meeting each of us told the attendees how they had changed our lives after knowing Steemit, among them were @samgiset, @angelica7, @eugelys, @jauregui88, @edwardstobia, @gorayii, among others. It was a fun weekend in the company of many friends.

Thanks to a conversation I had with one @enrique89, who introduced me to the EOS blockchain, I had the impulse and the opportunity to become an Ambassador for @pixeos in my country. Now I'm looking for artists who make spectacular works here at HIVE so they can tokenize their artworks from the art gallery and exchange them for EOS.

All of this happened thanks to a crypto-encounter, and I'm just getting started.

Hello @laloretoyya,

Very interesting story that highlights how you came to crypto thanks to a meet-up and pursued your journey to help another blockchain thrive.

And now you are going through the rabbit hole and trying to reach out to artists so they could make a living with their creations thanks to cryptocurrencies !

All of this happened thanks to a crypto-encounter, and I'm just getting started.

I love this sentence as it is also my feeling, so much to learn and so few time.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

(this is one of my favorite GIFs i made in early steem days)

Hi, I am Stellabelle and I'm from somewhere on the internet (prefer not to say which country, lol).
My very first encounter with Bitcoin was in 2011 when I was doing soul-searching and went on a journey which started by me typing into Google this question:
"Who is Changing the World?" This led me to Vandana Shiva, Monsanto, a film called Scientists Under Attack that was banned in my country, these things led me to Bitcoin. I posted about Bitcoin back then in 2011 on Facebook, but i was dead broke at that time, and didn't have a spare dollar. I was doing slave wage jobs, and then in 2013 i lost everything and was on food stamps, and couldn't find a job even after applying over 300 times.

When I first found Bitcoin, I remember feeling intrigued, but I didn't do a deep dive (unfortunately). Being broke and depressed didn't help at all.....

Fast forward to 2015 when i wrote my first book, Un-Crap Your Life, and shortly thereafter, I became a science/tech writer for Interesting Engineering. During one night when i was researching a story, I accidentally stumbled onto steemit.com, this was June 2016... It took me an hour to figure out how to upload images, because at that time only markdown was used, there was no image uploader....LOL.
I'll never forget how Dan Larimer greeted me during my first post: he was nice but he said that my formatting needed some work. LOL. I was thinking to myself, "jesus christ, i just spent an hour figuring out how to upload an image and you're telling me that my formatting sucks?"
Anyway, I fell into the rabbit hole and just never left. I guess it's safe to say that if steemit hadn't been invented, i probably would not know as much about crypto as i do.
I am grateful to Dan and Ned (begrudgingly,LOL) for making Steemit, but it is Hive that I feel has a chance to really help people become more free (that's my main motivation to be here.....that and to be able to learn and create, instead of doing some slave wage job.
I would enjoy hearing stories from @jeninacrypto and @fabiyamada and @juliakponsford and @yusaymon.

You've been into the system since 2011. Wow thats a long time. What a story this is. Glad to have you on hive.

well i didn't enter the Bitcoin system in 2011, but that was the year had a slight consciousness of it...as i said, i didn't get any bitcoin because i didn't do a deep dive back then (shame!!!!).

Hi @stellabelle,

"Who is Changing the World?" This led me to Vandana Shiva, Monsanto, a film called Scientists Under Attack that was banned in my country, these things led me to Bitcoin. I posted about Bitcoin back then in 2011 on Facebook, but i was dead broke at that time, and didn't have a spare dollar. I was doing slave wage jobs, and then in 2013 i lost everything and was on food stamps, and couldn't find a job even after applying over 300 times.

Who would have thought this Google searchwould lead you to Bitcoin?

Very interesting story as you went through the whole Dan, Ned and Steem History.

I also believe Hive can actually succeed where Steem failed if the whales on top manage to delegate some of their power to good Hivers.

I see a lot of developer activities and a lot of excitement, this has to continue in order to sustain our current momentum.

Thank you for sharing your story, I really "enjoyed it" and I hope you are much better today than you used to be before crypto.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

thanks so much for your reply....yes, crypto has changed my life for the better. I am a believer...and i share your positive outlook of Hive, I think we can do it now.

Hello I am @teenagecrypto a fun 19 year old that started earning crypto when I was 16. I'm still learning and earning. I made a goal for myself to never spend a single dime of my money to earn crypto. I earn it all from posting on here and I am currently trying to make it a side job.

It seems you are doing a great job @teenagecrypto !

Thank you for your contribution.

You are welcome

Tell us about your first encounter Crypto and what were you first thoughts about it?

It was in 2014. I do not remember much. It was with various cryptocurrency faucets. I also tried to mine some of the cryptocurrencies. For example with MinerGate. And there were also command line miners. I currently do not remember what I thought about it. I was not really involved with it until 2017.05.17, when I registered on the Steem blockchain.

Hello @xplosive,

Wow 2014 ? So early is nice.

How did you go to faucets websites, typing things like: "earn money online?" maybe?

Thank you for sharing your story.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

I currently do not remember how I found it, but I have not earned much in those early years. And I am not earning much nowadays either.

"Can you write an article about Bitcoin"?

I am a content writer and write most to affiliates. In the cryptoworld you can earn A LOT in affiliate so when people began to read a lot in newspaper about Bitcoin - affiliates see money! They order content. I was september 2017 and I started to read and write.

About 14 days later I met a friend and he told me he was working as a teacher and held some cryptoeducation. I joined because I love investments but also because I was working in writing articles about crypto.

I was buying, selling, trading, sending and gambling with crypto. Testing, using, trying and learning. That is my way to learn - so I can write about it.

I also had xxx USD to invest and was blogging about it at an affiliatesite (not mine). At one point I was up 350 % and of course that made me more intresting.

You know what happen 2018. No more articles was ordered and the value of my investment was fast going down...

Today I write some to costumers and also some at my swedish blog about crypto. Not so much as in 2017 but if I get a job - I LOVE IT. Because I learn so much writing about it.

So Here I am Today with some different coins in my portfolio - Electronium, Dash, Btc, Steem, Hive, Enjin, Eth, Doggicoin, Goatcoin (YES I HAVE IT) and some other.
Lets see which of them go to the moon first....

@chekholer - Here is my story. @chekohler Should it be....

EDIT - Have to tell you that I use it too.
Paypal is not anymore usefull for everyone in Venezuela. To make a banktransfer is not a choice. So how to pay a friend for a work - By BTC :-)

Hello @minimining,

Do you mean you were paid by article by newspaper? Did I get it right?

Then of course the trading/gambling... where you probably lost most of your cryptos right ? :)

Interesting to know that Paypal does not work anymore in Venezuela... that is crazy !

Which coin do you love the most at the moment?

Sincerely,

@vlemon

I was (and still do) writing article to websites about crypto. Guide, information and like that. To a website that help people start trading with crypto. You can find a lot of this at web.

I startad at xxx. Went up 350 % - and then down total 50% . So at that moment I still had 50 % of my start capital. Now has it went up some (but steem has went down a lot) so I have about my startcapital.

Enjin is my favoritcoin. Have always been so far

Even with the latest news about Cryptofights? Do you play it?

Play?
I am investing in enjin not playing with it.
But I am intresting about that fight - What is that?

Hi, I am @jab1987 from Manila, Philippines

It all started last year, November 2017, I already heard about Bitcoin from a total stranger in elevator when the 2 talking about Bitcoin. Since I actually had zero clue what bitcoin was, I didn't pay attention to it until March last year.

I remember it was a noon break, I was alone on my table at the office when one of my work colleague approach and invite me to joined coins.ph using his referral link. Upon sign-up I was asked to complete a KYC verification and I received my first Bitcoin (Satoshi) which is worth $2.00 or Php 100.00.

I really feel excited that day and I am eager to learn more about Bitcoin. Upon reading different article and how to earn Bitcoin, I ended up solving captcha on different faucet for satoshi. From here I learn about different coins, I was overwhelmed to many coins.

A few days later my appetite to learn more about different kind of coins and how to get one without spending a single peso, Google landed me on coinmarketcap.com. From here I meet Steem, read about it and I ended up reading on Steemit.com.

Just wow, I have seen a post earning few hundreds dollars to thousand dollars. I feel so excited and without a doubt I sign-up for Steem account, confirmation code was sent on my phone and a link sent to my e-mail.

While waiting for the approval, I am thinking of quitting my job since I see one post on trending tab is earns an around $300 to be paid in 7 days. The reward is already my one month salary.

Two days has passed, then weeks until today, unfortunately I didn't get my Steem account. I was so disappointed, those dreams and plan has been gone until this month.

Last May 06, 2020, while I am busy looking for an alternative way to earn money since my company have officially declare bankruptcy due to covid-19. I remember steemit.com and for the last time I pay another visit. However, I noticed it was not the same as it was a couple of month ago.

From there I learn about Hive, a Steem fork as a result of the tron foundation hostile takeover. With the help of search engine, Google redirect me to signup.hive.io and from there I found eSteem offering instant signup. Give it a try and I didn't get the same frustration Steem given me.

A reason I am here on hive enjoying my every little time posting my opinions and thought. In fact Hive is the only cryptocurrency I have that comes in whole number, not just a fraction which is something like 0.0009.

To be honest the first thing that comes into my mind when I get an account instantly "this is it, a chance for me to make extra money for my survival until I got another job" but as days passed on, my view on hive become more meaningful. I find here an interesting communities where I can able to share my experiences, expertise and more.

Therefore, Hive is the beginning of my official crypto journey and my story will continue...

Hello, I am razeiv from India.

I got into this crypto world back in 2017, I still remember the day. I was in office getting bored and sitting idle, and while watching youtube in my office desktop I came across one Bitcoin video in my recommended videos section( It was obvious, as i was searching how to earn online haha!). Then i opened it being curious about why Bitcoin is so famous and what is it exactly.

That's the day, and this is the day now, I have $2500 assets worth in Dash and BCH hoping to grow and excel in Hive :)

Thank you!

Dear @razeiv,

Nice story and well being idle is a way to discover new things I guess :).

Nice stack that you got there, maybe you will even consider putting some on HIVE to thrive ^^.

I wish you all the best in your cryptogrowth.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Thanks, yes thinking of it. Targeting to invest on it before July :)

I originally came across crypto, specifically Bitcoin, in about 2015. At the time, it seemed like an interesting concept but was not so well known. I downloaded some Bitcoin mining tools and got started. I remember reading at the time about some other cryptocurrency projects too like Ethereum. I had limited resources at the time so couldn't go on a mass spending spree and I was rather limited to just mining Bitcoin.

The mining became harder and I was getting fewer rewards so I gave up on it for a while. Just over a year later though, I checked back and found my Bitcoin was now worth much more. It got me interested again and I bought some real mining machines. However, again, it started becoming very competitive to mine. I decided it was easier to just invest in coins.

Of course, I took a hit when the Bitcoin price crashed after getting to $20k. I have learnt a lot since then though and now have a portfolio of about 50 coins I have invested in. I do trade but I am more of a hodler.

I believe we need real use cases for cryptocurrency so that we can get real utility. That then lead me to Steem and now more recently Hive.

Dear @awah,

Very interesting story and we can say that you are an early-adopted. Earlier than most in the comment section at least :).

What are your main holdings beside BTC, HIVE and Steem at the moment?

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hi @vlemon

My main other bags are Ethereum, BNB, Tezos, Stellar, Neo.

What about you?

BTC, Ethereum, Monero and BAT

Good choices. I also have some Monero and BAT.

@steemitcuration from uk.
I got into crypto about 4 years ago give or take. My first venture was in a platform that turned out to be a scam but made a bit of money. Second third and forth were also scams but i managed to get in and out with profit. Eventually stummbled across steem which i bought at 3$ 2$ and kept buying all the way down to around 15c just to bring my cost average down.
Everyone i have mentioned it to and explained how it works and its tokenomics etc outside of crypto has called it a ponzi scheme. Hard to argue that really.
I had pretty much given up on the platform and was almost even 'investment wise' and i was happy.
Then came along tribes which i managed to make money on. Once again a failed experiment and absolutely useless.
I bought in everyone i heard of at launch and with the fomo always around the corner sold at highs anyone buying in now? No idea why.
This had really got me back on track and i was more than happy to powerdown all acc and call it a day.
Then came the JS saga. I decided to powerdown and hold liquid with a obviuos fork from day one even though there was no real mention of it.
That happened and everyone doubled there money.
Once again held tight with liquid as others became heros by powering up.
Sold at 60c 70c 80c. Withdrew most and gambled the restπŸ‘
So what now?
Well another fork coming which could be actually good. Remains to be seen.
Hive will dump.
Steem will pump short term.
Is there any future for either.
Absolutly because people dont want to let go of the illusion of power they have and the hold they have over others being a whale.
The lil fish will always give the whales an ego boost by tagging them in post makjng them feel special.
So yeah it will continue for a long time.
Will it ever be mainstream?
No.
Should projects like this be funded?
Yes but they wont.
I admire your effort and wish you all the success.
Please dont take my comment(essay) as nothing more than just being honest.
Not one negative statement in all the comments which we all know aint the truth so just thought i would bring some equality to the question.❀

lol. this was good. your honest reply is very insightful!

Thank you.
All we can be is honest doesnt cost anything and doesnt require powering up lol

I abandoned Steem because i thought it was going to be MySpaced (people were already referring to it as Myspace, lol.) When JS saga started, i observed how the ETH artists now perceive Hive to be decentralized (with formation of DAO), so i think Hive has a chance if this one thing is taken care of:
New user onboarding and retention.

I have stayed neutral on both and hold same stakes over multiple acc.
I wish i could share your optimism.
I was excited about hive all of 3 mins before reality hit and realised its just a straight copy of steem. Same people incharge doing? Your guess is as good as mine.
We have 80ish devs and so far we have a piss poor copy of steemworld and some other copies which aint even changed steem to hive on there respective dapps.
The dao will be the downfall of hive around 7 people taking appox 1m in a year how long will that last?
No new devs are being funded. Same click taking obsene amounts for litterly nothing.
Try saying something see what happens.
Welcome to decentralisation yay

Most of that is accurate if not all.

Very interesting story and take on the STEEM/HIVE and social media in general.

I would say I can agree with a lot of things being mentioned even if not all.

I believe the value is with individuals putting their skills in service of the community as long as they perceive it will also benefit them.

This is what we saw with HIVE and some games and dapps are coming (not to mention @peakd that improve from an already amazing UI).

Thank you a lot for your comment and I would really love to chat with you on discord or in other community posts.

So join us or follow us in any way.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hello @steemitcuration,

Thank you, it was actually a very nice story that went sour and came back to a happy ending πŸ˜…

I understand some of your comments especially the one below as it is clear that there is some group of people getting most of the $$$ on top...

Well you can make a change and follow our trail since you are powering down πŸ˜‚.

We are definitely not part of this group of people haha.

Hello I'm kgakakillerg this is how I got in to crypto my friend basically told me about steemit of course when he first told me I thought he was talking rubbish I thought it was all a scam because you hear so many bad things about but then after a while I ended up joining steemit and the first time I invested in any crypto was to buy steem I purchased bitcoin with a gift card I brought it was a absolute joke what I received after all the fees but at that time I didn't really have a clue I've learnt a lot more since then I will do longer version on my page @kgakakillerg

Haha πŸ˜‚, if you only knew at that time what Bitcoin would become !

As most of us here, we would not be in the comment section would we ? πŸ˜‚?

Sincerely,

@vlemon

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ can you believe that when I first heard about bitcoin I could have got it for Β£100 only if I knew now

HEllo/ namaskaar πŸ™ my self @bhattg and I am from India.

This is around happens around 3 years ago in 2017 .one of my friend told me about steemit and cyrpto platform, I have never heard a this words before.
I asked him what is this all about I have no idea then he explained me a lot about steemit and crypto. we all are kind of beginners at that time,none of us are fully aware of all the things but we have taken our shots but we all have kind of failed at that time, the friend of mine have earned a good amount from all the crypto stuff.

I have invested my money on the bases of his analysis on the coin named as Lisk I have invested another time in jan 2018 in Lisk that time the one coin prize is around $30 USD that is around 2266 INR, ans guess what that is now $1.07 USD that is 80.82 INR I have purchased 10 coins at that time its around $300 but now its worth of 10$ only.After that I never invest my money in the guidance of him, I think that was a good decision of my life

This is my story of crypto.

Hello @bhattg,

Interesting story, at least now before investing you are doing your own research.

But at that time everybody lost money, prices where just too high.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

thanks a lot mr. @vlemon for stopping by my post.

ya now I am well aware of all of that, I have learned a lot from that incident.

Tell us about your first encounter Crypto and what were your first thoughts about it?

Hello, I am Jose Adams, @jadams2k18" from Venezuela.

I don't remember very well, but I think it was 2010, 2011 when I heard something about Bitcoin. I knew it was something like money, but the only way I could get it was by mining. I remember setting up my old PC for mining. But it was very resource consuming and slow. I never copied the information from my wallet, I really had no idea about the concept of a wallet and I lost those bitcoins (maybe it was $0.05 or less). I got to know the world of the deep web and that's where I saw that BTC was used a lot. That was scary.

It wasn't until the end of 2017 that I met Steemit and started to enter their world in January 2018. From there I became more interested in the world of crypto sphere, exchanges, wallets and crypto coins (and I knew that there were other very flashy cryptos: ETH, LTC, DOGE) and it was with @originalworks' contests that I really got to know the blockchain technology and what the future brought.

I fell in love with this technology and I think it will become a global and autonomous economic system in the future.

To conclude I would like to thank @hodlcommunity, @esteemapp, @achim03, @project.hope, and @crypto.piotr for their help to bring this contest to the Hive Community.

Hello @jadams2k18,

Very interesting story and kind of crazy to think what it became. It seems so far away this BTC 2010-2011 period πŸ˜‚.

Thank you a lot for sharing and I hope Crypto helped you to be better off in Venezuela.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

BTC 2010-2011 period

It's been 10 years! Seems like yesterday ;D

Thank you a lot for sharing and I hope Crypto helped you to be better off in Venezuela.

Crypto has been a great help for us in Venezuela

Hello, I am @shanghaipreneur from FinNexus - a DeFi project based in Asia. I first heard about bitcoin back in late 2013. Back then, it was all about the famous Lee Bros. of China - one ran one of the biggest exchanges BTCC, the other was a Silicon Valley guy who started his own version of Bitcoin called Litecoin, the silver to BTC's gold. I was suspicious of the whole thing because the person who had introduced it to me presented it as a get-rich-quick scheme. In his defense, bitcoin 5x'ed in the space of 2 months to end 2013... but I was wary about catching a falling knife. I figured I'd keep an eye on it and try to buy it once it had obviously bottomed. Well, it based in the $200s for a good part of '14, '15, and '16 but of course I was caught up in my own thing and didn't even know how to buy any. Then an investor I admire said, "Here, buy all you can of THIS thing at $400." I tried to do it, but could never get my KYC properly filed at Coinbase, so I joined Steemit instead. No one gave me any upvotes back then, so I forgot I even had the account even. Then a year later I was researching my PhD thesis and came to find out that the Chinese central bank had been actively researching blockchain since 2014. I then immediately looked at BTC price. It was around $1800. Whoops! After that, I've made sure to stay up=to-date and been hooked ever since...

Hello @shanghaipreneur,

Thank you for sharing your story and I am now following your project on Twitter :).

Interesting story and thoughts. It is nice that you were suspicious when presented to you as a "get rich scheme".

Very nice ending and I guess Crypto got you a job.

Can you tell us more about FinNexus? What is the goal of the platform... I am very interested.

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Thanks for the response @vlemon, always respected your blog a lot. We're a DeFi project that is creating a "Crypto Supermarket" - the idea is that crypto lacks diversity, real world value, and convenience. So we're gonna bring it to the industry!

I fell in with some of the engineers from Wanchain (WAN) to launch this project. Our first protocol cluster is about bringing real world assets - loan portfolios, receivables, etc. - to tokens. It's kinda boring stuff but the great thing is that these tokens will be completely uncorrelated to other tokens. And they'll also have a return component, so they're definitely be good for that risk-averse section of your portfolio.

The second protocol cluster is pretty damn cool. We've started working on it during COVID-19 and have actually gotten pretty far fast due to the pandemic. We are creating a decentralized options platform. So you can stake your bitcoin (if you wanna sell a covered call and earn some income) or you can stake a stablecoin (if you wanna provide insurance coverage for someone who's afraid bitcoin price might fall). We'll start with BTC and move on from there. That's about it for now.

We've just raised a good bit of money on Bitrue. We've done 4 rounds of FNX token distributions and they've all sold out so far. It's kind of amazzZZingGG!

Very interesting comment and I am quite interested by the options and BTC lending you are mentionning.

I really need to check all of this out, is there a DeFi Bible/Temple Website out there? To get all of the info?

I am making so much $$$ buying puts on stocks (ofc I would buy call on BTC haha).

Sincerely,

@vlemon

Hello, I'm Hardaeborla from Africa.

I could remember back then I had no knowledge about cryptocurrency and I never knew such valuable things really existed not until around 2017/2018 when the news of Bitcoin was trending due to the drastic increase in price of BTC.

This really made me curious about what BTC was all about which made me visited Google for my personal research since I love making money πŸ˜€. Fortunately for me I was directed to Steemit with the help of an article written by a Steemit blogger about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin. I was able to read the post and it gave me a sight glimpse of what Bitcoin and cryptos was all about.

After reading the post, I noticed the huge reward or money assigned to the author on Steemit (post payout) and this really got my attention because I was really in need of making money online as a student who desires to live comfortably. This was also led to my research about Steemit and I began to find it interesting since it involved making money πŸ˜€πŸ˜Š

My Thought About the first ever crypto I encountered

I actually first doubted Steemit rewarding it's users for their content or activities on the platform not until I started earning some tangible amount from my post payout. The mystery was solved when I was able to convert my steem and SBD to cash and ever since then I've actually been a great fan of cryptos.

Thanks for your time and I hope you have a great day ahead with love from @hardaeborla β€οΈπŸ’•β€οΈπŸ’•β€οΈπŸ’•

Hello @hardqeborla,

This really made me curious about what BTC was all about which made me visited Google for my personal research since I love making money πŸ˜€.

Haha, you are honest at least πŸ˜‚.

The mystery of STEEM has been solved xD.

Thank you for sharing.

@vlemon

You are welcome 😊

Hello, I am "Onuwaje Tuale, @tfame3865 is my username, I hail from Delta state, Nigeria.

During the year 2013- 2016, I was into ponzi scheme fully. I was very popular in this. After ponzi scheme was taking my life front and back, I have to call myself to oder and keep advising myself. I said I dont think I can continue with such life again. Why lamenting and thinkin of what to venture into, a friends of my told me about #steemit. At first I was like how can you say I dont invest before I can earn. This will be a shit system. He told me to give it a try, I did by registering and our account was activated on the 7th day. I became a member of the platform in the year 2017. When I had the account, I was not too serious with it. I came to my drawing board when I saw that I earned 30$ from one of my post. You need to see how I was dancing then.

I gave it more effort and at the end, it finally paid off. Forgot the issues that arise, apart from the fight we have, we all know #steem change our lives.

Thanks to @achim03, @crypto.piotr and @hodlcommunity for such a wonderful contest, at least we all can share our though.

Hello @tfame3865,

How are you handling the COVD19 situation over there? Did it change anything in your daily life?

So finally you stopped Ponzi and came to the right platform right?

Nice meeting you,

@vlemon

Yes, I stopped. As for Covid 19, it changes alot in my life.

I am now in the right place.

Nice meetting you

@itspapaputra πŸ€— - From Indonesia

I'm not encountering crypto stuffs directly. So, for years- I'm a programmer without a actual job (cuz i'm bad at it).

I found forex on 2020. To find new opportunity in there, I start study financing. COVID-19 appears 1 month after, it seems like a big opportunity but I don't know how to trade yet so I just kept learning.

I found Publish0x on March, people talks crypto there. It looks nicer than forex, and my interest instantly switched.

Several weeks later I join Hive, because its community won against someone who trying to centralize the chain.

Rn I just trying to find another chance in my life. Here- I share my knowledge gained about crypto things, experience, tutorials, etc etc.
I just hope to win this so I can use half of the prize for trading and invest on cryptos (because, people will mostly into decentralized stuffs on next decade - this is what I believe.)

That's all.
Oh- one more,

I'm bad at writing.

Hello there @itspapaputra,

Wow, very interesting story ! Especially thinking that you just learn about Cryptos a few weeks/months ago !

It is great to have you there and your writing will only improve, you will see.

Thank you for sharing.

Sincerely,

@vlemon
