Aligned

in Reflections11 months ago

A short while ago I spent a few hours with a friend with who, despite our cultural differences and a ten year age gap, I get along very well with. She's only been in the country for just on ten years and has assimilated into the society and culture really nicely; she feels more part of my country than she did or does with her own and that suits her fine.

She's younger than me however has a lot of experience in so many things, good and bad experiences, which gives her a level of maturity beyond her years and as business owners, her and I, we manage to get on very well when we meet up.

There's many things we align on but that doesn't mean we share exactly the same likes or dislikes or have the same tastes, interests or hobbies but we have similar values and I think that's what helps align us. This is not to say we don't share many similarities, we do, but I believe it's the differences between us that help us get along so well.

I mentioned this to my guy later on when he asked how my catch-up went and we got to talking about ourselves, our relationship that thrives on many different elements including our differences. Yes, I look at him and feel such a physical attraction, he carries himself with in a certain way that's just irresistible to me, but we have so much in common, values and attitudes, interests, likes and dislikes and there's no wonder our hearts align so easily and comfortably.

But we also have so many differences which we foster because it keeps us each interested and it means we have the chance to put effort into supporting each other which draws us closer in the process.

Aligning relationships with friends, family, lovers, socially and professionally can be terribly difficult but it doesn't have to be. It's give and take, the ability to listen with genuine interest, to show care and patience and to accept that not everyone is the same; what a boring world that would be if we were.

Like the image I used, sometimes people align perfectly and sometimes they do not and that's ok, it doesn't mean we can't all fit together somehow and make our lives and other's happy and enjoyable.

That's the key: accepting and respecting that we are all different, and that those differences enrich us all. It makes us unique and irreplaceable, and that's wonderful.

Hugs, Becca.💗

It's nice to have the key, it gets doors opening.
