I suspect that many are missing out on so much of life these days, while they stare at screens, not even adding their thoughts into the discussions.

My youngest son came home last night from a friends college dorm. He talked to me about meeting a new friend while there. He started telling me details about this new friend. It did my heart good to know that he wasn't one of those kids. Exactly like the ones you are talking about.

I really think there is going to be a large gap in a decade or two from now between those who were raised digitally and those more analogue, with the more analogue having higher in-demand skills.
