I never like monarchists because it kills people's democratic rights. As citizens of a state, everyone should have democratic rights where everyone, starting from the common people, can participate fairly. In the current modern era, maintaining these means depriving other people, so the royal family should come out.
Somewhat ironically, somebody who's appointed for life has less desperation than somebody who only has 3 or 4 years to cut deals, do favours, make friends and steal everything that isn't bolted down.
