We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.

We Talk Friday Ep. 29: A Princely Scum
I don't know who in the world has been following the saga that is the life of the man formerly known as Prince Andrew, and will now instead be known only as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, but I think it is safe to say, he is disgusting. As is his entire family for letting this drag out and not condemning him to prison. Sure, he says he has "done nothing wrong" but there should be a trial right? Oh, he paid off one of the people who happened to have a picture with him and Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein's partner in crime, so no trial.
Should that be possible for crimes of this nature?
I have never been a monarchist, as I think that they are disgusting people all in all. Entitled, inbred, and manipulative, people forget that underneath the jewels, gold embroidered cloth and eloquence, lay the most ruthless family that was able to hold power in the region. I think that in this day and age, we should be well and truly past having royal families that have any political sway at all.
It is a bit unfair on poor ex-Prince Andy though, because for several years now he has been dragged through the global media having some of his dirty laundry aired, when there are likely hundreds of other people who are just as famous (if not more so), who should also be outed, sentenced, and have their lives of luxury and entitlement, stripped away. Politicians, celebrities, people of industry.
There should be a Rick and Morty-esque Day of Purge.
And once proven, everything they own should go into a fund to improve the wellbeing of everyone else. They talk about "taxing the rich" but it wouldn't be necessary if all those sick-fuck assholes were uncovered and openly tried. Diddy was a billionaire at one point and is still worth about 400 million. Strip it. And all those other celebrity people complicit in the freak-offs - strip them too. But apparently, all those celebrities "didn't stay" for the real festivities.
Bullshit.
We are living in an increasingly sick world, where people believe they are entitled to have their increasingly twisted desires fulfilled. And it isn't just the people of power like it used to be, nor is it behind closed doors like it used to be - it is increasingly brazen. And in a world where everyone carries recording devices on them at all times and want to remember their own depravity and that of others, there are records being kept. Like trophies saved by serial killers of their victims.
This goes beyond fantasy and kink.
The illicit nature of what people want to do is because it adds to the experience by making it a scarce resource. And because the people of power can buy what they want, they want to have experiences that are only available to them, or a small group of people. They want exclusive experience, to feed their oversized egos. And the more they get caught, the more normal their behaviours become, and the more average people will shift in their preferences too.
Another one of those "race to the bottom" situations.
And another one of the many reasons I think society is crumbling.

I understand your point about everyone else who has been involved but I cannot bring myself to feel the slightest bit sorry for this sorry excuse of a man.
Yeah - I am not actually sorry. His misery should have the company of the others.
You cannot imagine what is living in a country where there is a royal family squeezing the money of all the citizens just for the sake of it.
Yeah I can, though it is a bit different. Australia is part of the Commonwealth....
I think the acceptance of this kind of behavior by the elite is concerning and shows a bigger problem in our society. We really need to push for transparency and fairness.
Perhaps people become more accepting because they with they could do the same?

Talking about this topic, it really made me angry because it feels like the powerful are just keep playing by their own rules while the rest of us suffer the consequences of their misbehavior and bad acts. The Prince Andrew case isn't just a battle, man, it's about how the system neglect monster keep wearing the crown and walk free without being punished.
The treaty's power has become a shield for evil. When you're powerful, you are immune to punishment and all the rest when you break the law. When people like him face not trial, they begin to send message to everyone that justice is now for sale.
You're right, society is beginning to fall apart because we have proven to people that justice is now for sale. So when people like him face not trial, they begin to fall apart words to define who we truly are. So the world needs to be serious again.
It's one of the most reprehensible situations that shows how broken the world, justice, and the systems are. See where people commit regular crimes, they face this as punishment, but someone that is powerful, suddenly becomes complicated. And sad how we see money and influence can silence these victims and can remove accountability.
You talked about the royal family, they have only lived above the law, and this can be very disturbing to the society. If other people were involved in this crime, we are exposed and they are stripped of their power or privilege, the world would have finally started feeling a little fair justice in this kind of case.
This is very true. People in society kept leading, keep making the same powerful people escape justice because they had their self behind with their title and reputation.
What is even worse is that, is how people really forget once things begin to move on. There is never any closure or any kind of scandal waiting to replace the last one. I think the world is indeed becoming sicker. Corruption is no longer shocking, it is rampant and popular now. Even the idea, I love the idea of redirecting the world to fix people.
Imagine how many life would change if the rich who abuse power actually paid for it or were punished for that.
I never like monarchists because it kills people's democratic rights. As citizens of a state, everyone should have democratic rights where everyone, starting from the common people, can participate fairly. In the current modern era, maintaining these means depriving other people, so the royal family should come out.
Somewhat ironically, somebody who's appointed for life has less desperation than somebody who only has 3 or 4 years to cut deals, do favours, make friends and steal everything that isn't bolted down.
It is frustrating but also sad, seeing how power, money and titles can completely rot people from the inside out. The monarchy is the perfect example of that people born into privilege and protected from accountability. Still paraded as symbols of dignity. The worse part is how society still glorifies them instead of questioning their relevance. Although, there is a change in this narrative, yet many people defend calling it a cultural or historical heritage. And we have lost some basic sense of decency and empathy along the way. We turning into everything but humans :(
I'm not following the case, so I need to investigate further. It's true that kings and their factions no longer exist under that name, at least, but those positions have evolved into politicians or celebrities who have become untouchable for years. While you mention Diddy, I'd say Dan from Nickelodeon. Although his fortune isn't nearly as great, the power he wielded was so immense that he controlled an industry for years. We still live in a world where knowing who to contact and knowing how to do business with the right people gives you equal or even more power than a king! In a media-driven world where everything is revealed in less than two seconds, it's obvious that no one will admit to being part of Diddy's parties and everything that went on. They'd be publicly shamed on social media until the next century, maybe!
You know, there are pictures of our current president with Jeffrey E and his girlfriend, they have been friends for years and our justice department said that there is nothing to see there...
yea.. might make right i guess.. or is it now being a rich, power mad, man baby prez??
:P
Definitely some sick stuff and eye opening just how deep the enablement and cover up goes.
1 Samuel 8
"10 So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking for a king from him. 11 He said, “These will be the ways of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horsemen and to run before his chariots. 12 And he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive orchards and give them to his servants. 15 He will take the tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give it to his officers and to his servants. 16 He will take your male servants and female servants and the best of your young men[a] and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take the tenth of your flocks, and you shall be his slaves. 18 And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”
