In life we have the freedom to choose who we want to be, we can take on different roles depending on the environment in which we develop: in the family, at work, in social life, etc.
However, what is really important is who we are in essence, not who we pretend to be.
Unfortunately, we meet people who wear masks, who show a façade different from their true selves.
Some do it out of necessity, others out of hypocrisy, malice or their own inner demons.
But, as the phrase goes, ‘Some people breathe to tell you the truth, and some people mean it when they lie to you’.
What these people do not take into account is that, sooner or later, the masks always end up falling and revealing the true essence behind them, and that is when we discover who they really are.
Genuine and kind people bring us happiness, while false and hypocritical people with dark hearts bring us experience.
But at the end of the day, we have the freedom to choose to be genuine, to take off our masks and show ourselves as we are.
Authenticity is a gift we give to ourselves and to others. It is living in harmony with our values, without pretence or deception, it is the key to finding true fulfilment and inner peace.
Let's choose to be authentic, to be who we really are, no matter what the circumstances.
It will always be depending on the circumstances. Like in the work place, we need to blend and forget who we are too.

I like this saying and I resonate with it, but then a question popped into my head while thinking about it. What if someone is genuinely evil (due to things out of their control)? Is it ok to not wear a mask in this situation?
