"If hard work leads to success, the donkey would own the farm" - old rural saying

This might lead to the innovation of the so called "jugaad" where random things are utilised to ease out the manual effort involed in villages. Like using a bicycle ream as a pulley or a bike motor on a cart wheel and so one. It has been said that the need is the mother of all invention. And when the village people started finding it tough to carry on with job, they simply adapted towards the makeshift way of carrying the work to get some relief. Village people often considered as the hard worker who always put in more efforts in their work. Their nature of work ask them more manual effort. I have been in village since last few years and seen the manual hard work put in by village. Be it farming, or constructing or anything, they are true example of doing hard work. They always believe that "hard work" alwsys lead to success. Even I was brought up with the same mindset till it changed as i get into real life struggle.

Hard work vs Smart Work

I understood the real significance of the above "donkey" saying while working in the corporate sector. There was a complete change of atmosphere and as much as I work hard, still the glory, and rewards were far away from my reach. People starts to adapted towards "smart" work convept and taking all the recognition. It was like carrying a Motorola brick phone innl the age of smartphone. However, It did not took me long enough to adapt to the changed atmosphere. After all adapting to the situation is in itself a smart work. I started applying "lean" methods to my work. Finding every little gap in the process and where automation could bring down the efforts. This worked well for me and any the company too thereby reducing the time and manual effort involved in carrying out the tasks.
The concept of "smart work" is all about introducing the effective and efficint way of to completeing the tasks and thereby reducing the time and physical efforts elements. On the contraray, "hard work" involves putting in more manual effort and time in completing the tasks. My grandfather used to say a similar phrases in their days; it was like,

“if it was all about working hard, all the brick layers would be millionaires.”

This does not mean that hard work is not fruitful at all, and people should always run towards easy way of carrying out the work. Hard work is necessary sometimes. It is like that in certain domains, especially while operating in own business or own entrepreunership, that hard work is very important, infact it gets necessary to put in more effort but sometime such efforts gets not sufficient enough.

Need for Smart work

The need to carry outbtasknin lessor time leads to introducing "smart work". Many corporates sector advocating smart work culture in their organization solely for faster activity. In my personal opinion, Smart Work does helps us in many way. Afterall, we have limited hours in a day (24 hrs) and have many things to accomplish. There is a long list :

  • Take care of us physically. i.e Sleep, eat, exercise.
  • Take care of us mentally, to avoid stress, etc
  • Take care of our family, children, spouse, parents etc.
  • *Take care of our finances to earn livlihood, work, invest etc.

Unless and untill, if we won't take the time out of everything, everything cannot be accomplished. This is what smart work gives us while workly effectively.

Hard work & Success

The above saying could stands wrong. Hard work is absolutely necessary, but should be aim it in the right direction to get success. Surely, there are many other components that make up a successful person. But no one worth talking about has gotten to where they are without a tremendous amount of “hard work”.
Hard work gets us only to a limit. Beyond that, we need a sophisticated strategy that includes personality, wisdom, and social acumen, among other variables and skills to taste success sweetness.

Success isn't just about the hard work. Success is a complex blend of hard work, smart strategies, timing, and sometimes a bit of luck. It is also about where we put our effort that matters. The crucial factor lies in knowing how to extract value from our hard work. Otherwise we risk letting someone else enjoy the fruits of our labor. We get to the phase where we Work smart and claim what we deserve!

Hard work is not sufficient, but its absolutely necessary. It is just the bare minimum, without it nothing will ever get done, only lazy bump says its not necessary sometimes.

Peace!!

Hard work is necessary but that's not all it takes, I've seen so many hardworking people who can't afford to live a decent life. Like you said, hardwork paired with smartwork and a luck is key..

That's well said, hardworking unable to cash out their effort and sometime others take away with their credit. This is where it is important to learn smart work as well. And that can be done with proper planning and understanding.

I totally agree, to be successful you need both, hard work, persistence, perseverance, perseverance, discipline and strategies, smart work, all combined in the best possible way.😃

What are the two "presrvance" relates too ?? I am bit confused.

I didn't understand the question.....

Hard work is very much related to perseverance and perseverance but without smart work it will remain nothing more than that.

.... related to perseverance and perseverance....
