Kissing
Kicking It

We spent the day aimlessly wandering around Tallinn oldtown, grabbing a coffee and tea whenever one of us needed to go the bathroom. Though, I think that that is a self-perpetuating process.
Like in many tourist cities there are a lot of pigeons.

But normally it is the pigeon looking in the window at the people.
And just outside one of the old town gates, is a flower market that has heaps of beautiful bouquets. Every time we have been here, my wife comments about how much cheaper they are here than in Finland. What I find interesting is this is how people travel - everything is relative to what one knows. Good and bad. However, it also means that we aren't looking too much at the things we don't know anything about, the things we have no comparison for. We are blinded by experience, just as much as informed.

I used to not like whisky, but I am starting to enjoy whiskey sours.

One bit of something different was we saw a RedBull truck setting up for something and an hour later we saw Jaan Roose slacklining a few hundred meters between buildings in oldtown. I didn't know this was much of a thing, but apparently last year he travelled 3600 meters walking between mainland Italy and Sicily.

I like that last photo.
The thing that makes it a better photo for me is the flock of birds flying below.
And then of course, there are the obligatory photos of churches and around the city. There were no photos allowed in the church, which is something I don't really understand as long as you aren't there using flashes, making a lot of noise, and taking selfies. I accidentally took some with my camera set to silent, so the shutter doesn't fire. It works more like a phone camera in that mode.

As we were walking and talking, we didn't actually take too many photos and we just wandered and (or meandered) around, doing very little. We did end up walking about 11,000 steps (14,000 for my short wife), but it was a very easy day.

And weirdly, I didn't take a photo of it, but we came back to the hotel in time for "chocolate hour" which I thought was going to be something sexual, but was actually just some complimentary cakes and chocolate snacks. Not a bad way to warm up for the pool.

And now, after a swim, sauna and relaxing dip in the hot pool, we will head for a nice steak dinner at a restaurant close by. It will be back to reality tomorrow afternoon - but we will have time for another swim and sauna before we head out back to Finland.
When's the next trip?

Interesting, the church cross has a half moon on the bottom. Is that some sort of Muslim / Christian fission?
I actually have no idea. I am not up on my religious symbols. Perhaps it is a sickle? :D
Looks like you are having an awesome time. I have never had a whiskey sour before, but I do enjoy whiskey, so I should try one out sometime!
Give it a go. Probably too sweet for you, but it is pretty refreshing!
It sounds wonderful. I love your photos, all of them, but that dachshund bench is a thing I want. Your aerialist photo is truly great. Were you lying on the ground to get that one pigeon shot? Doesn't look like it, or the other people would not have been ignoring you.
I hope you two are also getting all warm and fuzzy now and then. No photos necessary. I don't even really need to know!
My wife wants to steal it! :D
Just bending. I love taking photos of pigeons in the hope of also catching something interesting in the background.
I'd say you succeeded caatching something interesting with that one then.
Dammit man I always enjoy your stories and adventures but the photos in this one are something else. Your eye for composition, framing and perspective are almost too distractingly good.
What joy we can get from deciding to be a tourist even in our home towns from time to time. Then, a bonus in the rewards for sharing of you are a Hive tour de force!
The guy on the line is my favourite photo in ages!
Ya man that is wild. gives me the heebiejeebies just looking at it.
In my childhood the name of these candies sounded completely different :) "Kiss-Kiss", in Russian the candy was called "КИС-КИС" and there was a cat on the wrapper. "КИС-КИС" is a word for luring a cat.
Totally :) I remember those iriski :) And yes kiss kiss in Russian is how you call your cat :)
I didn't know that. But, I was trying to get pussy! ;D
Oh, in finnish, "cat" is "kissa"
I can say that you really are enjoying your anniversary with your darling wife. The memories I like are how you and your wife didn’t rush to do too much but just wandered around and enjoyed the city. Sometimes, the best memories come from those slow days with no fixed plans. The slackline show must have been amazing to see in personbwalking between buildings like that is wild!
The photos really capture the beauty of Tallinn, especially the flowers and churches. Attimes we are used to comparing prices of goods and also the quality too in our country and when we travelled like your wife did. Keep enjoying your anniversary and keep us posted.
You guys are having lots of fun and it's a good way to celebrate your anniversary. I think spending time together like this as a couple may help to strengthen the love and bond between them. Memories from this adventure will no doubt stick to both your minds for a long time. Well, enjoy it while it lasts before the trip back to Finland.
What a wonderful mix of sights, moments, and surprises in Tallinn! The slacklining must have been amazing to witness, and “chocolate hour” sounds like the sweetest way to end the day. Glad you got to enjoy both the city and some well-deserved relaxation!
It seems you and your wife really enjoyed the charm of Tallinn :) Taking the time to explore and soak up the vibe. Those unplanned moments usually make for the best memories.
Being able to see all these beautiful places is cool as your celebrate your 10 year anniversary. I like the way you celebrate this with your wife without any intruder whatsoever.
The lovely pictures you took also make sense as i see all the edifice buildings. Keep enjoying the holiday with your lovely wife.
I really liked your description of the chocolate and sauna experience, definitely a perfect way to end a special day. Enjoy the dinner and the trip, I’m excited to hear about your next journey 😄
You're very good at taking photos; you're talented at it. You've walked a lot, and when you go somewhere, you need to walk to explore it anyway :) Sitting and looking around is like looking at photos on a computer.
