I didn't figure it out, but at least the commenting started to work again so was able to get to the other article before bed. :)

It working is good XD Sometimes I don't care as long as it works and other times the webmonkey in me freaks right out because WHY IS IT SUDDENLY WORKING AGAIN WHAT CHANGED IS IT GOING TO BREAK AGAIN.
Totally understand not connecting to the hotel wifi, I would feel the same, though often I'm not sure how much more isps/telcos can be trusted. I want the weird distributed networking thingi in my head universe XD
