I am really struggling with my connection, so I will see how far I get with this before giving up or just posting. I have tried to answer comments on the other post, but it keeps failing. I am sharing the connection from my phone to laptop, but while it is working on my phone, the laptop keeps connecting and disconnecting in a loop. I will try not to get too frustrated.
However, the trip is going well so far and I just wanted to point out something nice from the hotel, that I was hoping would happen. It is a decent hotel that I can mention later at some point perhaps, but when I booked I added into the requests field that we were recommended the hotel by friends and we were coming to visit for our tenth anniversary and were looking forward to the stay.
When we arrived and checked in, on top of the normal scripted pleasantries, we were congratulated on our anniversary. And then when we got to the room, there was a handwritten note from the manager, a plate of fruit and chocolates, and a bottle of chilled prosecco.
It is worth making a note of special occasions.
This is cheap for them to do this of course, but it does take a little extra effort and makes a great impression on our stay. The room is very nice, the service has been good, and the general atmosphere is modern and relaxed, but also has a feel of luxury. I will recommend this hotel later in a travel article I suspect.
I took a room with a balcony.
There is a thunderstorm.
So after dinner (we ate in the hotel restaurant) we went back to the room for dessert and some sparkling wine, chocolate and fruit. We both took a travel sickness pill before the boat ride as it was expected to be stormy (it wasn't) and my wife is super tired from it, and is already in bed. Which has given me a chance to tap away on this tiny keyboard and struggle with image placement. I am tired too though, and the frustration is getting to me!
Or maybe it is the gin and tonic, or the red wine, or the prosecco. Whatever it is, it is getting to me and I will soon give up and move on to bed instead. Though, I am currently in my stubborn "I will struggle until I succeed" frame of mind.
Oh, and after dinner we made a very quick trip to the pool area for a dip, where they also have a Japanese bath, a cold dipping pool, a steam room, and a traditional sauna. It was really refreshing after the day travelling and we plan on heading again after breakfast before we go to walk and explore the oldtown. We have been here before a few times, but it is different without Smallsteps, and it has been a long time since it was just the two of us.
Now...
I will give commenting one more try before bed.

I had to switch nodes earlier as comments were taking forever to post and votes the same. It's been a while since we have had this situation. You might want to check yours.
Perhaps it was that. Tried again after and it was okay. Maybe my connection was causing the issue?
I was on the @deathwing node, switched to @blocktrades after doing a speed test in the peakd settings.
If you cast your mind back to 2018, the chain was in a right state compared to now, always up and down. Maybe we are forgetting its ran be regular people, not some big corp and is susceptible to the odd blip. It's great now compared to what it was.
I have never seen that "check speed" option that I remember! :D

It is such an uncommon occurrence now, that is so patently obvious, whereas over the years, there was a presumption that it was the chain and not connection/tech issues.

It's been a few years, so maybe specific restaurants have changed a little. We were in the vegan restaurant V and in Spot. Both were excellent, but actually I haven't had a single bad experience , even in the places that we just stumbled into. I'll definitely have to go back on exactly that: an eating trip ;-)
At least they picked up on the subtle hints and did the extras. I used to hate travelling without the kids so do not forget to buy Smallsteps a little gift for her sacrifice lol. My problem is now the grand kids prefer our house and company to the parents so we have inherited more kids which is actually quite cool.
Yeah, we will get her something for her of course, and for her hostess.
I am looking forward to a future (if it happens) where our house is filled with grandkids I can both spoil and scold :D
Many years away, but time does fly and I never really expected grand kids so quickly and they do make you feel older and younger all at the same time.

How long until your tenth? I suggest getting away, even if it is just for a night or two like this. It is refreshing.
Still a long way to go, slightly less that two years until anniversary of our meeting, but 02.02.30 for the marriage anniversary.

Totally understand not connecting to the hotel wifi, I would feel the same, though often I'm not sure how much more isps/telcos can be trusted. I want the weird distributed networking thingi in my head universe XD

It's nice that businesses are making a gesture, but I don't think it's enough. Two women with massage expertise could have given you a massage in the sauna. It resets the body.
That would have been great. It is actually something that is missing from the hotel it seems, because I was trying to get a massage for my wife.
The disconnection might be a signal to do what you are upto - i.e enjoy the time. Such disturbance might distract you so better focus on the quality time. As expected the photographs start pouring 😉 and giving worth of imagination to the readers...

The thunderstorm wasn't overly impressive - otherwise I would have taken pictures too. I have always wanted to capture an epic lightning strike.

That's very thoughtful of the hotel management, not all hotels would do that.
I understand that feeling when you are used to travelling with your kid and then it's just the you and your spouse, but it's needed though. Do enjoy the rest of your vacation with your lovely wife

Let me commend the hotel's customer service, it's really nice. It's also great that you didn't give up on the image placements, they are really nice pictures.
It's nice when a hotel makes an extra compliment on a special occasion. This hotel room is probably not cheap, 300-400 euro.

It is great to see you that you are enjoying yoir anniversary and you got the perfect hotel that suits your liking and the warm reception is also top notch. Even though it doesn't take the management anything to put such writing up to welcome you. It is cool as they deem it fit to do to acknowledge your anniversary.
It is annoying when you need to use network and its fail i have been in the shoe too. However, for the fact that you can still operate on your phone sounds cool. I do hope you enjoy your holiday and anniversary.
