So Be It

in Reflections2 days ago

I reckon like me, the current HIVE prices have people a little crestfallen and feeling downtrodden. And no, I am not here to say, "Don't worry, it will all be okay", because I don't know that the price will recover any time soon, or any time in the distant future either. However, since it is what it is,

So be it.

The challenge with not only HIVE, not only crypto, but with the entire global economy right now, is that it is a gigantic mess. There is massive overvaluation in some areas, undervaluation in others, and most importantly - a huge amount of volatility which causes copious levels of uncertainty. There are wars, conflicts and operations that are going on. There are political tensions over tariffs and land masses. And at national levels, there is a contagious spread of blame of foreigners ruining everything and causing everything from housing crises to unemployment and social problems. That seems fair, but what is actually to blame are the politicians and corporations themselves, who have created not only the policies, but incentives to power migration, without any infrastructure planning to deal with the aftermath.

This is par for the course though, because over the last few decades, governments have been working primarily with corporations to maximise profits so the wealthy few can get wealthier, without considering the consequences. Instead of planning ahead, when the inevitable happens and their actions cause negative repercussions, they push the blame and responsibility of clean up on the people who were actually affected by their decisions in the first place, and who have already paid at least once to the wealthy.

It is a wealth transfer that keeps on pushing more into fewer pockets.

When it comes to HIVE price though, who know what happens. But when it comes to Hive as a community platform, *act with some fucking decorum and honour, and stop your bitching and whining. This place operates despite the low price, so use it as it is intended to be used, as a place for creatives, developers and various readers and commentators to interact together, build together, and do shit that won't be done elsewhere.

If it all goes to zero forever?

Fuck it.

Even though I have hopes that it will improve my financial situation one day, this was never meant to be a job, and there was never a salary involved. Despite the huge amount of entitlement some people have about what they deserve from Hive, no one deserves anything, whether earning from writing or buying in. As far as monetary-type value is concerned, there is risk involved, and if you are now unwilling to face the risks, that is okay. Bail out. You might lose something, you might gain something, but grow a pair and make some decisions for yourself, instead of relying on everyone else to make it all okay for you.

For those who want to take some risks for a better future?

Buckle the Fuck up.

Find a chair next to some people you want to spend time talking with, and start fucking talking to them. Stop crying into your pillow at night about what could have been and what you should have done, and acknowledge that this is where it is right now and at least historically, we have been here before. That doesn't mean the future will be bright, but it also doesn't mean it won't be bright, or brighter.

Obviously, I am tired of these shit market values too, and I wish Hive will go to the moon and sun and reach out into the farthest depths of the universe. But come on, that is not where we are now, and it might not be where we are this year or next. It could be that in two years from now, the earth is a flaming ball hurtling through space devoid of life also.

I give it even odds with HIVE hitting a dollar.

At the end of the day, your decisions are yours. So before you make any, go and take a good long hard look at yourself in the mirror and decide on what kind of person you want to be.

And then be it.

It's been a year and I haven't even understood yhe whole platform thing. All that matters to me is that my writing skills and thinking capacity has changed a lot. Plus, I have learned a lot of things on this platform, with respect to different cultures, variation in opinions and different approaches.
Moreover, when I look at other social media sites, they are nothing compared to Hive. Take Instagram as an example, there is this endless scrolling, and in return, one is achieving bare minimum or nothing at all. The environment here is friendly, one's work is acknowledged, all this when one is getting paid. Crypto is not my thing, so I don't really get to worry about it. Only thing which worriess me is the end of this platform. And it's not my personal approach, here and there, I read other people scaring me with the price. I justr look upon it, with hope and fear at the same time.

You should take the time to learn - it is awesome.

here and there, I read other people scaring me with the price.

Price is what it is. Value is something different. Some people seem to also have no personal values.

As I've been trying to poke around a bit more I've finally started seeing some of the attitudes I keep reading the rest of you talking about 😅 I don't know whether that's good (I can feel a shenanigans comic brewing) or not (sometimes I wish I'd stayed in my bubble but then again I found more potentially interesting people).

The bubble feels safe, but eventually it pops and the air outside is rank :D

It could be that in two years from now, the earth is a flaming ball hurtling through space devoid of life also.

I would give it even odds with Hive hitting $100 :) I must be an optimist ;)

Hive is fun for me, because I can do stuff here and earn a few cents here and there LOL. The real investments are a lot less fun, though on a day like today they do make you feel pretty good:

I hope you are more right than me!

Not a bad day. But green days can also be fake green days :D
Gains after dips- But hey, still gains!

I basically just keep showing up and doing the same thing I always do. I don't see that changing. It does suck at times, but what else do I really have to do with my time?

but what else do I really have to do with my time?

Exactly. I guess some people have a lot to do with their time that is super important - but I suspect most don't.

Man, I am just writing and enjoying the engagement. At least while time is allowing. When Spring comes, my time here may be less. But still. What better time to accumulate. If you are into that. I am into accumulating more people to follow and follow me. That is kind of slow right now as well. But hey, it is still fun times. At least for me. All this doom and gloom is pansie shit.

What plans do you have for spring?

What better time to accumulate. If you are into that.

Many only accumulate when it is free. :D

I am into accumulating more people to follow and follow me. That is kind of slow right now as well.

Yes it is, but slow also means you get a chance to know the people.

Well it will be warmer. So I will be getting out more. But mainly plan to work in the yard. Got lots of DIY stuff to do outside as well.

I agree about the chance to know people.

You're right—it is what it is. Many people who complain are wishing it to be something it's not. As someone who has tried almost every social media platform imaginable I can honestly say Hive is still the most rewarding. This has never been a place that sparked many book sales for me but it's wonderful incubator of ideas, engagement, and friendships.

but it's wonderful incubator of ideas, engagement, and friendships.

And I think in today's landscape, that is valuable in and of itself.

It is-and incredibly rare.

It's okay to complain about the price of hive, but it's better to do something positive about it. Like continuing to contribute value to the community or buying more hive now it's this cheap. Both options are better than just complaining.

Global unrests and crazy economic policies have surely contributed to the distablization of the world economy and the financial markets, including the cryptosphere. And these events are unlikely to stop or abate anytime soon. Not while Trump is still US President.

Trump promised to be pro-crypto, but right now he's clearly being the very opposite of that. I wouldn't even be surprised if he's using the tarrifs to manipulate the markets so he can make some profits. Man's nature of greed can make him do almost anything, not minding the consequences, no matter how grave.

Both options are better than just complaining.

But they require active decision making and responsibility with consequences.

Greed knows no bounds - and Trump is amongst the greediest of them all.

I am just worried that if Hive price will continue to fall witnesses will not be able to do their work and Hive will just stop working. for instance the page from witch I bought most my Berserk manga volumes is no longer working. But a caveman like me is not even sure that this is possible...

Witnesses will be fine.

Back in the steemit days, i used to say. ‘Steemit doesnt owe you shit.’ Your post now reminds me of that sentiment… drop the expectations, HIVE on!

The level of entitlement in the world has increased even further now, so the sense of being owed something is much higher it seems.

When prices comes to this form is when you need to star to do the power up.
Happy power up.

Nice one :)

I can't imagine spending my days anywhere else! I'm glad there are more of us who feel the same way.
❤️

Yeah - if it all comes crashing down, I will still be around :)

I'll be there with you!

We'll have fun, regardless.

I don't really check or am interested in the price, after all it's the full crypto world in deep red not just hive... The only issue would be when witnesses can't repay the expenses to keep nodes up

People "see Hive" daily - but the rest of their tokens are just somewhere in a portfolio. Funny isn't it? The things they use they value the least.

  1. LET IT BE, LET IT BE..

giphy.gif

  1. HIVE to $1!!!

1 dollar would be incredible from here.

Stop crying into your pillow at night

People are crying into their pillows during this?

Dear me, has it not been worse at times? I remember when HBD tanked. I guess HP remained the same, but an account's overall bottom line could have been as bleak as what many are seeing today. I'm not hurting as much as others I guess because I kept 500% USD value in HBD savings, earning 15% to 20%.

Yeah - people cry into their pillow like teens over their first heartbreak.

Here I think it is important to see that nobody is obligated to give us anything, and it is our responsibility to take action if we want to see change.

Seems many people's only "take action" is to take as much as they can

I'm calm, absolutely calm. I enjoy logging into Hive every day and chatting here.

I'll only be worried about the HIVE price in two situations: either $0.02 or $1.

why worry at 1?

A strong project with a history dating back to 2016 in the CoinMarket top 100 is exciting. And getting $1-2 for a single comment is also exciting :)

I don't think we should be writing Hive off just yet, I believe it's a fantastic community here - not a place for riches or fame - and it's roadmap for 2026 including a pivot towards mobile-first infrastcture could attract plenty of new users.

I don't write it off. I just write :)

I don’t know where the price goes either, but I do think communities that keep functioning during the bad cycles usually have a better shot long term than the ones that fall apart the second things get rough. The platform still works. People are still posting, building, commenting. That part hasn’t disappeared just because the market’s ugly.

That part hasn’t disappeared just because the market’s ugly.

And it won't disappear. It gets quieter though, as some people lose their nerve.

You’re right about something many don’t want to admit Hive was never a guaranteed paycheck. Somewhere along the way, people started treating volatility like betrayal instead of risk But risk is baked in. Always has been. If someone came here purely for a stable income they misunderstood the terrain.

I really felt this. The market has been rough, and it’s honestly discouraging sometimes when I look at the price. But you’re right Hive isn’t just about the numbers. The price will go up and down, but the people and conversations here are what really matter. In times like this, you kind of have to check yourself and remember why you’re here in the first place. Hard moments really show who’s staying and who’s leaving.
