Life is what it is simple, unpredictable, and full of mysteries. Before any of us came into existence, the world was already here, and long after we were gone, it would remain. The Bible says it clearly: “One generation comes and another goes, but the earth remains forever.” This verse reminds us that no matter how long we live, our time here is limited. We are just passing through, and one day, we will leave everything behind. That understanding alone should humble every human being.
Through experience, I have learned that in life, there is no friend forever, and there is no enemy forever. People change, situations change, and time has a way of rearranging everything. Someone you trust deeply today may hurt you tomorrow, and someone you once hated might become your greatest helper. Truly, time and chance happen to everyone.
Life itself is not always fair. Good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. It is the strange balance of existence. Even when you try to live right, life will still test you in ways you never imagined. I have seen good people cry, faithful people betrayed, and hardworking people struggle while the lazy ones seem to have it easy. But that is how life is; it teaches without warning and corrects without pity.
No one can live without facing problems or misunderstandings. Conflicts are part of what makes life real. Without them, the world would be too calm and lifeless. Every disagreement, every challenge, every fall and rise adds meaning to our journey. Even among friends, there will be crises. People disagree because they care; they argue because they are emotionally involved. Conflict is not always bad, it sometimes helps people understand each other better.
A situation in my neighbourhood reminded me of this truth. There is a couple who recently moved to our new site. The wife lives abroad and only visits once in a while. The husband stays here in Nigeria without a job, depending largely on the wife’s financial support. I learned that she sent money to him to build a house, which he actually completed. Everything seemed fine at first until accusations began to fly. The husband accused his wife of infidelity, while she also discovered that he had been seeing another woman.
Their quarrel grew worse, and the wife eventually blocked him, cutting off all financial support. Later, she accused him of selling her cars: two of them, according to what people said. Now, she plans to return home, pack all her belongings, and sell the house since it was built in her name. The situation is sad and painful to witness.
From all that has happened, I can only conclude that life is a mixture of joy and sorrow, trust and betrayal, peace, and conflict. Sometimes, people destroy what they built together because of pride and misunderstanding. Even though the husband has his faults, the wife is not entirely innocent either. But in the end, two wrongs can never make a right.
Life will always test us through people and situations. The lesson is to stay calm, learn from every moment, and never allow bitterness to consume our hearts. We may not have control over what life brings, but we can control how we respond to it. And that, perhaps, is the true wisdom of living.
Life is filled with both good and bad. You can never live a smooth life. You cn never find a perfect person, you just have to live and enjoy the moments as it comes.
I think if we know this and accept it as it is, then we won't take life too seriously, and we will learn how to live in harmony with all men.
