Andrew Archibald McDonald is a prominent figure in this province's and Canada's history, having been in charge of settlements dedicated to the fur trade in the western frontier and then becoming a politician that steered the course of this country's early history.
It's no secret that a few settlers took native women as wives, though I don't think that the custom was widespread. I found this poster in an exhibit in Fort Langley, where Mr. McDonald managed business affairs for the Hudson's Bay company, and it has information pertaining to this matrimonial aspect of this nation's history.
What remains for us then, is to make the best & wisest solution we can for every man...
Archibald McDonald
March, 1829

I really thought you were talking about the fast food McDonald haha
It's a common British last name, so you see it regularly here, and it always makes me think of big Macs and strawberry Sundays :D
Every step has history, what a great phrase! And what a brilliant poster!
There's a lot of history in this place. I like how this large poster uses sepia-coloured aesthetics reminiscent of that era.
I always like sepia tones... I think you know that! Good evening!
