Ethnobotany of the Baobab (part 1)

- Baobab Sorbet -

Made by Gambian women, these sorbets are made from dry Baobab pulp, sugar and water. There are several ways to make these sorbets packaged in small sachets and sold for 10 euro cents. These delicious refreshments that remind me of my childhood are sold in all the villages and in the local markets. Baobab fruit is an important food resource for local ethnic groups and it is used in the composition of many recipes.
Confectionnés par les femmes gambiennes, ces sorbets sont fait à partir de la pulpe sèche de Baobab, de sucre et d'eau. Il existe plusieurs façons de réaliser ces sorbets conditionnés dans des petits sachets et vendus 10 centimes d'euros. Ces délicieux rafraichissements qui me rappellent mon enfance sont vendus dans tous les villages et sur les marchés locaux. Le fruit du Baobab est une ressource alimentaire importante pour les ethnies locales et il rentre dans la composition de nombreuses préparations.
