RE: One Week Diary Through The Lens

in Amazing Nature2 years ago

What is very worrying in our region is theft, hijacking and kidnapping now taking place through lack of earnings.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Here a few years ago situation with kidnappings was terrible. Express kidnappings were the order of the day. With the economic crisis that changed, I don't know if it's because of the huge migration that took place and because a lot of thugs left. But we don't hear about kidnappings anymore. Robberies are always a problem here, especially of vehicles. There are robberies in crowded areas in the street sometimes.
And motorcyclists who sometimes rob people in traffic those who are carelessly talking on the phone or displaying valuables.

I hope everything gets better here and there.
Happy week to you !

Huge migration with professionals exiting the country over last 20 years, now we deal with more problems, a big brain drain!

Don't foresee things righting for some time to come, if in my lifetime I would be surprised!

Have a great day!

We seem to share many of the problems, here and there. Here migration has been brutal. The UN says that the migration of Venezuelans in recent years is only surpassed by the refugees from the war in Syria.
The youth here are looking to leave no matter what. And many professionals have left. It is a sad reality.
We have had to see our children and new generations having to look for the opportunities they can't find here, outside the country.

Most families have children living overseas, or moved families over since 1994. Reverse Apartheid has led to only black inhabitants obtaining employment, leaving little choice for all others who live here.

Those able to setup small business on their own, this too is difficult with BBBEE (Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment) or tax complications if self-employed needs to expand.

Small business now face servicing business where over the last ten years were happy to accept workmanship, now only work with black nationals refusing entry onto premise to perform tasks.

What makes me angry is majority of blacks migrated from the North, my heritage arrived on first ships from England or Holland which are traceable, my children are fourth generation.

If we are no longer welcome in the land of our birth, say so and give us free access to return to countries of origin without all the red tape.

Have always been proud of my country, never thought I would say this, but it gets to a point when one considers actually walking away from the mayhem.

I must admit that I don't know much about the situation in your country but what you say is regretful.

It is very hard when you feel you are no longer welcome in your own country. Here it has happened for political reasons. Society has become polarised, and the group in government has spent years pretending that the country belongs to them and not to everyone. They have destroyed and taken advantage of the country's wealth as if it belonged to them.

I am sorry to hear that the situation for you there is so difficult.

Our situation is very similar, not quite the same, however after State Capture, overspending now having no employment crime is rife!

Wishing for better tomorrows, that is about the best we can do!
