Time to bloom

"Nature is a space in life that reminds us of its infinite beauty"
Liseth Zamora.

The month of May has always symbolized in Venezuela the beginning of the harvest; where the first rains fall to break the strong drought. This year it was accompanied by several forest fires, unfortunately common in the area where I live.

La Victoria, Aragua belongs to the coast-mountain region, so it is common to observe its prominent valleys and mountains that with a few drops of rain green up even if they are dry for the moment.

A beautiful species that during the whole year goes unnoticed because normally its greenery and foliage are not striking is the Araguaney. When its leaves basically all fall, one of the most beautiful spectacles of nature begins: the flowering.

Its beautiful flowers are massive and cover practically the entire tree. For years, it has been a source of inspiration for many people: writers, copleros, composers and singers; since its flowers have an exuberant yellow color. Although it is found throughout the national territory, it is mostly observed in the Venezuelan plains.

This time, I had the opportunity to enjoy it much closer to me; since it bloomed two blocks from my home and has turned out to be the sensation and the center of attraction of the community. As it is an extremely young specimen, this is the first time it has bloomed in such magnitude. In previous years it had only achieved a few small buds. This tree can last between 80 and 120 years, the yellow flowers appear from 8 to 10 years after being planted.

Now, what makes it so attractive to all of us is that this enjoyment is extremely ephemeral, since it can last 4 days at the most, after which it leaves a striking yellow carpet.

Parts of Australia experience drought conditions for years...I wonder, how long do your droughts continue on average?

Hello @galenkp how are you? Our dry periods are between December and April. From May to November is rainy period

I'm well thanks, I hope you are too.

Yeah, I figured there'd be some months that were particularly wet and those that are dry. Same as the tropics in Australia, right across the top end really. We have droughts though, as I said, and sometimes very long periods without rain in parts. Australia is so vast that the climate and weather conditions are so varied.

There are no four seasons. This is because it is an intertropical country

Yep, I get that. My State has four seasons but the top end of Australis, the tropics, only has two. They are called the wet season and the dry season. It's always very hot and humid up there but in the wet season it gets hotter and way more humid.

It's very curious, I didn't know it was like that.

Yeah, we have deserts, sub-tropics, full-tropical, arid lands, mountains, snow, etc. It's incredibly diverse. Such a huge country.

Here we also have everything, as the song says: desert, jungle, snow. What we don't have is volcanoes, thank God. The only generator of the ozone layer: the lightning of the catatumbo.

Here we also have everything

No G-dog over there though. I'm exclusive to Australia, my natural habitat. (Except when I travel)

Look, I know you've been told this before, but hive should award you a new badge: most wanted user of the weekend.

Lol...Thanks. You know, there's some who would award me a badge for most hated. It's funny how different people have different perceptions. I appreciate your comment though, and that you engage with me.

It is very difficult not to get hooked every weekend it gets better and better. That's true, in the comments it's very noticeable. Some people love you but others hate you. That's a sign that you do great things
