The long seed pods you see are the 'fruit' of the tree, and they are very similar to bean pods. Before fruiting, the tree will be covered in bunches of large white flowers. Where I live, the foliage also turns a brilliant yellow during the fall season.

Wow My area doesn't have these trees
They would probably be easy to get, if you wanted some, as long as they're not considered invasive in your area. They're fairly could hardy and heat tolerant and grow quickly, even from seed.
