We knew it was coming but it is always a surprise when you wake up, looking outside and see there has been a foot of snow that has fallen covering the landscape in a blanket of white.

JJ Checking Out the Deep Fresh Snow Outdoors
I took a photo from the covered porch when Bruno first came out into the snow.

Early in the morning when it was snowing heavy Bruno didn't seem to happy to be out in the snow and cold but when the snow slowed down and it was a little warmer (plus I came outside) Bruno seemed much happier playing in the snow

I did some shoveling then went to see if I could get some photos from around the yard.

JJ came out for a bit but he wasn't to pleased with all the deep snow. He took one trip outside to do his business then he went to the litter box after realizing the snow was so deep.

When going out the back door of the house in the early morning I was presented with another beautiful snowy scene -

After returning from our walk I took a few photos of the winter wonderland in our yard -

We have a sun room attached to our house which is quite warm causing a melt on the roof with icicles making a beautiful display in front of the windows.

When the snow comes heavy like this I like to make sure I keep the bird feeders full for a lot of the bird's food will be covered. We are expecting -20 degrees Celsius tonight too, so it is good for them to have some extra fuel to keep warm.
Looking Toward Bird Feeder From Deck
There was plenty of chickadees coming to the feeder then flitting to the nearby bushes to eat them. There seemed to be a dominace thing happening with them for there would be the main birds chasing the others away.

Another bird that was plentiful at the feeder was the bluejay. There was half a dozen or so taking turns coming into the feeder.
3 Colorful Bluejays at Bird Feeder
I think there were some juvenile birds at the feeder for they would open their beaks and expect there mothers to feed them like the one below -

When I got to close the bluejays would fly up into the trees. They didn't look to happy huddled on the snowy branches waiting to get back at the feeder.

A frequent visitor to the bird feeder is the red breasted nuthatch. You can tell when he is around for he gives out little peeps when he's coming in for a feed.

Another bird that you could hear at the feeder was the downy woodpecker tapping away.

That's all for now. I'll be out taking more photos of our winter wonderland once the snow stops so I can take my good camera out for a walk.
I took most of the photos around the yard with my Canon Powershot A495 and the photos of the birds and scenes from the deck I took with my Canon Powershot SX 60HS

You definitely got some good pictures of the birds!
I really like the close-ups of the Bluejays. They can eat a lot of food, but I like them anyway. :-)
I have squirrels coming to that feeder to and those are the ones who take a lot of food (not sure if they it it all or just stash it! Our dog keeps them away some what so the birds get their fair share.
There's a chipmunk that shows up under my bird feeder and packs it's cheeks with seeds that the birds drop and carries them off to it's nest. It probably eats some of them also. :-)
Bet the birds were sure glad of the feeder after that dumping! Love the way the bushes made the snow scene pop!
Wohoo ^^ That already looks like deep winter ^^ The snow was very busy over there at our place ;) .. I like to see both of them playing and being excited due to this beautiful weather change .. The little snow flakes on Brunos head look great !

Is there no mountains with snow on them in Venezuela? I grew up in Saskatchewan Canada where we have very long winters with lots of snow - great to go skiing and sliding/tobogganing. I'll be sharing lots more winter wonderland photos with lots of snow in it for the season is just beginning.
The tallest peak in the country has some snow, but it's quite far from where I live and I've never see it in person. One of my brothers lives in Toronto, he's the only one in my immediate family who has experience with snow, hahaha. Looking forward to those beautiful pictures!
WOW, I really love the picture of a dog running on the snow.:D
Great captures of the snow and Bruno not impressed with deep snow to wade through.
