What is this lizard doing? Trying to escape the human who caught it, as simple as that!
Жизнь и смерть, вот две главные вещи в жизни. Показать смерть сложнее, хотя мне есть что показать (см. конец поста), а жизнь - это выживание, то есть в основном питание, и кроме того, размножение. Природа достаточно скупа, проектируя в наших телах центры удовольствия, она поступила чисто утилитарно и ограничилась двумя процессами: питанием и размножением, что лишний раз подчеркивает приоритеты :)
Life and death = aren't these the main things in life? Death is more difficult, although I have something to show on the topic (see the end of the post), and life is survival, that is, mainly nutrition ... and besides, reproduction (copulation). Nature is rather stingy, and embedding pleasure centers into our bodies, it basically limited itself to two processes: nutrition and reproduction ... - which, in fact, emphasizes their importance and priority :)
Чомга охраняет гнездо с яйцами. Это очень смешная птица (ну, до тех пор пока вы вы не подставите свою руку или глаз под ее долото, конечно). У нее гибкая шея, как у змеи, и пока она сидит на яйцах, она вертит головой каждую секунду налево - направо, как маятник, проверяя периметр на предмет возможных угроз. Гнездо было построено на воде, но достаточно неподалеку от берега, я фотографировал телеобъективом 300мм, но мог подойти очень близко. И вот если я подходил на расстояние чуть больше полутора метров, птица не выдерживала и покидала гнездо - плавала рядом и гневно выражала свое недовольство - уходи отсюда, человек. При этом второй родитель (я не разобрался, который из них был мамой, а кто папой) тоже плавал поблизости и добывал еду.
Crested Grebe duck guards a nest with eggs. This is a very funny bird (well, unless you put your hand or eye under its chisel, of course). It has a long flexible neck, elongated as a snake, and while sitting on the eggs, it turns her head every second to the left - to the right, like a pendulum, checking the perimeter for possible threats non-stop. The nest was built on the water, but close enough to the shore, I took pics with a 300mm telephoto lens, but could get very close to it. And as I approached a little more than 1,5m distance, the bird could not stand it and left the nest - but didnt go away, still was swimming and circling rounds near the nest, and angrily expressed its displeasure - "go away from here, hooman!". At the same time, the second parent (I did not figure out who was mom and who was dad) also swam nearby in search of food, being her support. What is amazing about it? Ha, it was such a touchy picture to watch at!!!!! And the duck is very mesmerizing, not like usual sparrows or pigeons.
"Утренний туалет", или грязная лохматая тля рано утром пьёт ночную росу (может быть, трубила всю ночь, предавалась порокам и не знала меры в алкоголе, а теперь у нее слегка гудит голова?)
"The Morning toilet", or dirty shaggy aphids is drinking the dew early in the morning (maybe she was hanging around all the night, having fun with dancing, alcohol and drugs around the bars? now her head might be buzzing, then).

The froggie is taking a refreshing bath in the pool at the Amanita Penthouse.
Вам может показаться, что на этом фото - простой мотылёк. Но вы не знаете контекста, всей истории. На самом деле... я при помощи серпа косил высокую траву вдоль канавы (вы видите срезанные стебли). Ночной мотылёк, очевидно, нашел тут себе приют и дневное укрытие, которое я разрушил. Поставьте себя на его место, и вы прочтете что означает его выражение лица, то, с каким видом он смотрит на меня, гада. Разрушил родимый дом! Это очень злой, огорченный, разбуженный вторжением ночной мотылек.
It may seem to you that in this photo is a simple moth. But you don't know the context, the whole story. In fact ... I used a sickle to cut the tall grass along the ditch (you can see the cut stems). The nocturnal moth evidently found shelter here and a daytime shelter, which I destroyed. Put yourself in his place, and you will read what his expression means, the way he looks at me, you bastard. He destroyed his home! This is a very angry, distressed, woken up by the invasion of the night moth.

Кормление ежика! Этим летом в наше место приходили три ежа разного возраста, из них этот - самый молодой. Он появлялся первым, когда вечер был не самый поздний... однажды мы подкараулили его у помойной свалки, и предложили угощение. Ежик провел не меньше 15 минут, свернувшись в колючий шар перед этой тарелкой с молоком и хлебом. Ежики всеядны и едят все, даже тухлую падаль, но молоко конечно особенно приятная вещь... и потом мы имели возможность сделать его портрет с очень близкого расстояния. Эта фотография получена отнюдь не телевиком - а макро объективом 60мм, с расстояния вытянутой руки. Удивительная история! никогда еще я не смотрел ежику прямо в глаза.
Feeding the hedgehog. This summer three hedgehogs of different ages used to visit our place, this one was the youngest of them. He often appeared first, when the evening was not very late yet... (which is important for taking good pics!) Once we noticed he approached to our garbage dump, we offered a treat of milk and bread. The hedgehog was scared of us, and spent 15 long minutes curled up in a spiky ball in front of this plate. Hedgehogs are omnivorous and eat everything, even rotten carrion, but milk of course is especially pleasant thing ... and then we had the opportunity to make a portrait of him from a very close distance. This photo was taken not with a telephoto lens, as you might consider, but with a 60mm macro lens, at arm's length. Amazing story! never before I have looked directly into the hedgehog's eyes.

Вода не менее важна, чем питание. Кошка пьет воду - простая картина, но она содержит в себе бесконечное количество умиления.
Water is just as important as food. A cat drinking water is a simple picture, but it contains an infinite amount of emotion.

Вылупляются паучки. Точнее, они уже вылупились и подрастают - я был свидетелем паучьего детского сада! Это было удивительное зрелище: не один ребенок, а сразу тысячи! И продолжалось это меньше одного дня. Когда я захотел спустя пару часов сфотографировать эту картину еще раз (при другом освещении) представьте мое удивление, когда я обнаружил это место уже покинутым! Удивительные скорости...
Spiders hatch. More precisely, they have already hatched and are growing up - I witnessed a spider kindergarten! It was an amazing sight: not one child, but thousands at once! And this lasted less than one day. When I wanted to take another picture of this picture after a couple of hours (under different lighting), imagine my surprise when I found this place already abandoned! Amazing speeds ...
Паразиты атакуют паука. Было непросто сфотографировать эту случайно подсмотренную картину... я на самом деле когда делал фотографии, думал что снимаю паука-маму, которая носит на себе яйца. Уже потом, разглядывая фото на мониторе, я сложил два плюс два и понял, кто такие маленькие оранжевые кругляши.
On this picture, you see the tiny parasites attack the spider. It was not easy to photograph this accidentally spied plot... when I actually took the pics, I considered that I was capturing a spider-mother who carries eggs on her back. It was only later, watching the photos at the display, I added two plus two and realized what the little orange rounds were, actually.
Удивительные сцены жизни животных, птиц, насекомых (и грибов!!) можно заметить, даже будучи городским жителем. Коршун прилетел в город за добычей, и поймал голубя. К сожалению, это была не фотопрогулка, а деловая поездка в город, поэтому фотографии сделаны при помощи телефона, а не камеры с теле объективом. Почувствуйте разницу... мы сделали 100+ фото, все они примерно одинаковые, такого низкого качества. Однако все равно - это было суперская встреча и столкновение с настоящим "действием" в мире животных!!
Amazing scenes of animals, birds, insects (and mushrooms!!) secret life can be noticed even if you are a city dweller. This kite came to the city for prey, and caught the pigeon. Unfortunately, this was not a photo walk, but a business trip to the city, so we had to take photos with my wife's phone, not a camera with a tele-lens (feel the difference: we took 110 photos, and all of them are about the same, and such a low quality). However - it was a superb encounter with real "action" in the animal world !! We took pictures hiding behind a tree, at a distance of 3m. When after a while he got tired of our neighborhood, he suddenly picked up his prey, jumped off the spot and with no apparent effort disappeared into the sky.

Spectacular shots. Would be very hard to pick favorites but the detail of the lizard shot is incredible, that would probably be my pick. Excellent work.

by the contest conditions - to tell a story about animal's doing some action - I think it is not the most impressive one... the spider attacked by the parasites, maybe is my pick then. kite feasting on the remains of a dove was a happy find and capture, too. sadly I had no camera with me at the moment

This is a great action collection. For me also is the post as a whole more interesting than just professionally made photographs ... and a low quality shot with something interesting on it is for me always more exciting than a "perfect" landscape or portrait that looks more or less like the other 100000000000000000000000000000 "perfect" landscapes or portraits I saw throughout the internet, with no interesting concept or context around them. :D I absolutely like some bad movies for the same reason. You have a nice mix of shots with a wide array of technical quality, there is a bit of action on every one, and all together this looks great.

a mix, yes. I always have to say smth about the capture. well, most of the time, lets put it so.
my point of view is slightly differs from yours, but I appreciate your opinion a lot, too. 'context' means a lot, sometimes even a fancy title, may provide to a photo totally different, amazing dimension! @borjan

а-аааа! ты про мотылька. (в посте он назван ночным мотыльком, а еще там есть бабочка к-я пьет нектар, я сперва подумал что ты про нее). ну, тут да, признаю. мне и самому было невыносимо горько... но не настолько, чтобы забиться в уголок и рыдать, успокаиваясь. вместо этого я сбегал быстренько домой за камерой! заодно и успокоился, снимая происходящее. в конце-то концов, не последнюю корову пропиваем - арендная плата недорогая, можно найти немало другой сходной жилплощади с такой же выгодной арендной платой. просто ему надо было пережить шок, и уверен что уже той же ночью ему тоже стало легче... причем намного!
Стресс ведет к развитию. Мотылек вышедший из зоны комфорта, станет чем-то большим)
но это еще не точно. может и не станет, если его вскоре приметит какой нибудь из дневных охотников. или тупо дитенок пробежит рядом, и отоварит сандалькой нашего "вышедшего из комфорта"
Ну все может быть, ну будем надеяться на лучшее, раз мы уже развернули такой диалог...

ну да, ну да, русский человек завсегда жалеет и становится на сторону слабого. коршуна чего жлеть, ему кушать не надо и деток кормить тоже незачем... откуда и зачем ему детки?..

в природе все сбалансировано. слишком много зайцев - есть куда волкам размножиться, слишком много размножились и нехватает на всех зайцвев - обратный процесс пошел, вымирает часть волчков с голоду. процессы с обратной связью, о чем тут жалеть. вот человек если вмешивается, и начинает рудить - тогда да, жалко. человек не эколог, и тут всем становится нехорошо... всему балансу.
Да я все понимаю.
Но мне жалко оленя (к примеру) когда его лев убивает. Но и льва жалко, когда он промахивается и остается голодным...
А когда одно животное убивает другое, со мной что-то происходит, как будто часть его боли передается мне, я ее чувствую!
Я писала как мне голуби нервы трепят, но когда я узнала что их отравили - я плакала.
А когда через несколько дней на мой балкон прилетели "мои" голуби (чтобы опять какать и недавать мне спать) - я обрадовалась что они живые.
Я этих наглых морд теперь опять гоняю.
Ох... я, наверное, дура :-(

нет, эта не оставила, мы быстро ее отпустили, так как она дала за себя знатный фото-выкуп :)

мне мой маленький помощник помог.
еще летом снял фотку на болоте - вспугнул ее во мху, и она не утонула в нем сразу, а сдуру побежала по дереву вверх. у меня то как раз макро было вот прям щас с собой, но! много ли снимешь чего? - согласен. тот кадр, это далеко-далеко не то же самое, что этот!
