Although I like boho style (mixed with some leather) I also worked in offices as a young woman. Thus I appreciate more tailored dresses, too. Here is a work in progress:
I purchased 4 yards of the print fabric just because I saw those colors and decided I had to have it. I was not exactly sure what I would make until I realized I had been wanting to make the Folkwear patterns Sporty Forties retro dress. I have it pinned to the dress form now while I decide on buttons for the front.
I am also knitting a pink cardigan to go with the dress. I like bright colors for winter projects. They remind me that summer is coming!

The library sewing books at my branch with a retro style seem to be popular now. People interested in sewing seem to want to update 1950s patterns and prints.
Sometimes you want to wear something classier than ripped jeans or leggings! The fashions of the 50's flattered the female figure without looking trashy. !BBH

OMG! The fabric is amazing and I absolutely understand your wish to wear something bright and flowery in winter. I hate that here all people wear only black, grey or in Gerät muted and dark colors. So, if you go into town everything is dark, the sky, the houses, the people… I love the pattern you have chosen which may be vintage but perfectly fits into todays cottage style.

I think I am instinctively drawn to colors because my mind desperately needs color. I wear black at work (required) but often add a pair of ridiculously bright socks just so I can see some color when I need it. Of course at work it helps that I am surrounded by white and ivory gowns and sparkly formal dresses. !BEER
