Crochet Donuts Key chain

Weekend was a blast and my plans were not realized. I was not even able o do the laundry ad I think I'm going to do it tonight.

Hello Hive people! I hope this week hold a better and brighter days to all of us! In this blog,I'm going to share with you the Crocheted Donuts Key chain I first made.

Looking Back

I had been crocheting since 2017 before I knew about Hive and a fellow crocheter told me about Hive when I asked about her needlework that she posted. I asked how and then the rest is history. I am forever grateful to the bighearted great grandma @jurich60.

Sadly, the people around me thinks my crocheted products are expensive so I was discouraged and took a long pause, but still making crocheted products for my use. One of my disappointments was if I see my crocheted project neglected and not being given value to those whom I gave them.

Anyway, enough of that negativity and heart ahces. This year, one of my goals was to get back in crochet and in fact last year, before the Valentine's day, I made several flowers to sell but the Valentines day that day was rainy and I was not sold even one. This year, I did not bother because of the following reasons: I was too busy; I don't have enough good yarns(my yarns were almost all scraps) and I did not have budget yet to buy some.

Despite all the reasons I had, my hands were itching to make some projects to start with and when I saw these cute donuts key chain pattern posted on Facebook, I immediately grabbed and made my very first donuts key chain!

I followed the pattern trusting the process as I went and finally made one! I used my old 4ply indophil yarns, and a 2mm crochet hook (IMIA #2).

Here's the pattern

Round 1: Make a slip knot and chain 20
Round 2: Single crochet on the first chain, (two single crochet on the next chain, three single crochet each on the following three chains)4x and two single crochet on the last two stitches. 25 stitches in total.
Round 3:(this is a continuous rounds or circles make sure to mark the part where you began, In my case, I used a different colored yarn and get it in between the first stitches I made in every round) make three single crochet on the first three stitches, double crochet on the next, (make four single crochet on the next four stitches, make two single crochet in the next stitch)4x, then add a single crochet on the last stitch. Thirty stitches in total.
Round 4: make five single crochet on the first four stitches, double crochet on the next, (make five single crochet on the next four stitches, make two single crochet in the next stitch)4x.Thirty-five stitches in total.
Round 5:make three single crochet on the first three stitches, double crochet on the next, (make six single crochet on the next six stitches, make two single crochet in the next stitch)4x, then add three single crochet on the last three stitches. Forty stitches in total.
Round 6-9: One single crochet in each stitch

This makes one side of the donuts. The pattern said to make another one and stitch them together but as I was thinking on what to do do, I modified it by stitching the round two on the round where chins were made. It does the same thing plus you don't have to stitch them together.

The sides were open and I sewed them together stuffing as I go and making sure cottons does not come out.

Substituting and Fueling Up for Work

I did not have fiber stuffing so I substituted it with cotton rolls I found at that moment. But before I could finish my work, I got invited for delicious snacks on the neighboring office. Someone was bidding farewell as she is moving to another company and prepared food for us all to share.

After the food, I went back to my work and finally finished my little project, sewing the sides and stuffing in the cotton fibers. It was not an easy job as cottons get caught up in my sewing and the would stick out making the project look awful. Perhaps with more practice,it would become easy.

Here are some snaps I took while working

The round was not perfect at first but it only needed push to balance all the stuffs inside and make it look better.

For the key chain ring. I took my old key ring from the key holder and attached it to my project. It turned out to be nice and I decided to gift it to my nephew whose birthday was that day. It was a perfect timing!

I tired it on my bag and poof! It looks so good!

I planned to make more soon and will sell them if possible. Hopefully God is in favor of my plans and will pour blessings on me. I am very happy of my little achievement!

To encourage myself more on making crocheted projects, I always wear my crocheted virus shawl to be reminded that my hands could do lots of pretty things with hook and strings.

This is perhaps the most beautiful project I have ever made.

Ill end end my blog here and I hope to see you around, Keep safe and stay happy!

Nagpapatunay lang talaga na uso ang donut sa Pilipinas. 🤣 Tatlo ba naman tayu nagpost ng ganito. Haha, iba2 yung pattern natin tatlo but I think same kami ng technique ni sis @yoieuqudniram, ang pinagkaiba lang talaga isa yung number of stitches.

Oo nga sis eh, kaya diko rin napigilan gumawa. Napadami tuloy.😅 Magfifiesta na ddin kasi dito sa amin so I'm thinking na baka papatok ito. Yes, madali nga sya matapos. Burger naman tayu next time sis.

Pag nakabili ako ng maraming yarns sis. Nag iipon pa ako para makabili ng bulk. Yung nabili ko polyester l, nag try ako ng purse.
