Cutting the head stock piece is a task of precision. You need to keep around 4 cm to the outer side of the piece, then following this measure, you get another 9cm towards the center of the neck and you have the piece to cut. Last thing is to move the lines to the side of the neck and draw a diagonal line. This last step gives you the angle the head stock will show, it is around 13° to 15°. Finally, get your saw and start cutting following the line as much as you can.
This cut requires practice. But this doesn’t mean you don’t have to do anything else on the pieces after cutting. In my case, the piece needed some work before gluing it together. You can see I evened the edges of both pieces. Also, used a plane to even out their surfaces and sanded them to get rid of any bumps. There you can see how the pieces fit together. With this done I can start working on giving the neck its conic shape. But that will come in another time.
Cortar el clavijero requiere precisión. Se debe dejar un margen de 4cm hacia el borde exterior del mástil, después tomando ese margen, se miden 9cm hacia adentro. Lo último es desplazar esas medidas hacia un lado del mástil y trazar una línea diagonal. Este paso nos dará la inclinación del clavijero, esta varía entre 13° a 15°. Finalmente, es tiempo de tomar nuestra herramienta y cortar siguiendo la línea en toda su extensión.
Este corte requiere práctica. Esto no significa que no haya que trabajar en las piezas después de cortarlas. En mi caso, tuve que hacer varios trabajos antes de pegarlas. Tuve que enderezar los bordes. Además, utilicé el cepillo y lija para aplanar las superficies de las piezas. Aquí pueden ver cómo quedó la junta. Con esto hecho, ahora puedo trabajar en darle al mástil su forma cónica. Pero esto será en otra ocasión.
