Fue una tarde entrañable de la que conservamos unas imágenes preciosas, sin embargo, pasaba el tiempo y yo no me animaba a hacer el álbum ideal. Es algo que suele ocurrirme muy a menudo: acostumbrada a trabajar por encargo para mis clientes o simplemente a hacer los libros para regalarlos, apenas tenemos en casa creaciones miAu!. Espero que mi colección de obras personal vaya aumentando (jejeje).

I've been looking forward to sharing this work! A few years ago our friend Chano came to our house to give us a beautiful photo session. It was a lovely afternoon of which we kept some beautiful images, but time went by and I couldn't bring myself to make the ideal album. This is something that happens to me very often: used to working on commission for my clients or simply making books to give them as gifts, we hardly have any creations at home miAu!. I hope that my personal collection of works will grow (hehehe).
Lo primero que hago cuando tengo que enfrentarme a un nuevo proyecto es decidir el papel que voy a usar. En este caso, como se trataba de fotos familiares (en las que salimos adultos, niños e incluso la gata) tenía que ser un estilo que fuese bien con todo: ni muy infantil, ni muy floreado, ni muy serio,... Así que dejándome llevar por la gama de colores de la ropa que llevábamos puesta esa tarde (azules, verdes, mostazas y blanco) me decidí por esta colección de papeles de la marca First Edition, "Paradise Crush", muy alegre y tropical. Para unificar todo el conjunto, usaría el negro (color que eligió el fotógrafo como fondo de sus capturas).
The first thing I do when I have to tackle a new project is to decide on the paper I'm going to use. In this case, as they were family photos (in which we were adults, children and even the cat) it had to be a style that would go well with everything: not too childish, not too flowery, not too serious,... So, going with the colour range of the clothes we were wearing that afternoon (blues, greens, mustards and white) I decided on this collection of papers from the brand First Edition, "Paradise Crush", very cheerful and tropical. To unify the whole set, I would use black (the colour chosen by the photographer as the background for his shots).
La estructura consistió en páginas cuadradas encuadernadas con dos líneas de espiral blanca. Estas dos líneas fueron posible gracias al uso de la encuadernadora The Cinch, que nos permite seleccionar qué agujeros se troquelarán (puedes verlo en la publicación del seis de febrero).
Además, en cada una de las páginas se repite el mismo diseño: un canto de papel decorado, que alberga los agujeros de la encuadernación, que es el mismo que el del enmarque de las fotos. Las fotos van pegadas sobre un papel decorado, este sobre otro negro, este sobre otro decorado y finalmente sobre el negro de la página. Así en todas las hojas. Es importante recordar que el adhesivo empleado está libre de ligninas y de ácido, para no estropear las fotografías con el paso del tiempo.
The structure consisted of square pages bound with two lines of white spiral. These two lines were made possible thanks to the use of The Cinch binding machine, which allows us to select which holes will be punched (you can see it in the publication of February 6th).
In addition, the same design is repeated on each of the pages: a decorated paper edge, which houses the binding holes, is the same as that of the photo frame. The photos are pasted on a decorated paper, this one on a black paper, this one on another decorated paper and finally on the black of the page. This is the same for all the pages. It is important to remember that the adhesive used is free of lignins and acid, so as not to damage the photographs over time.
Con el plotter de corte (del que ya os hablaré en próximas publicaciones) recortamos palabras y elementos que incluimos como decoración en las diferentes páginas, como "mis chicos" o "amor" o como unas hojas o unos corazones. Eso sí, usando siempre el mismo papel decorado que hubiésemos usado en esa página (en el canto y en el enmarque de las fotos).
Recalcar además que ese papel decorado es el mismo en las parejas de carillas izquierda y derecha, así, mientras vas pasando las páginas, estas están siempre conjuntadas dos a dos.
With the cutting plotter (which I will tell you about in future posts) we cut out words and elements to include as decoration on the different pages, such as "my boys" or "love" or some leaves or hearts. Of course, always using the same decorated paper that we would have used on that page (on the edge and in the framing of the photos).
It should also be noted that this decorated paper is the same on the pairs of left and right pages, so that, as you turn the pages, they are always matched two by two.
Otro detalle respecto a la decoración es el uso de un adhesivo transparente y brillante que se queda en relieve -el Glossy Accent de Ranger- , y que he aplicado en zonas concretas, como por ejemplo los puntos de las íes de "mis chicos".
La última página sí es algo diferente, pues la he usado para pegar una instantánea que le hice al fotógrafo mientras trabajaba, y al que queríamos recordar en nuestro libro.
Another detail regarding the decoration is the use of a transparent glossy adhesive that remains in relief - Ranger's Glossy Accent- , which I have applied in specific areas, such as the dots on the "I's" of "my boys".
The last page is a bit different, as I have used it to stick a snapshot I took of the photographer while he was working, and whom we wanted to remember in our book.
