Me gusta coser, sobre todo para la familia y amigos, aunque de vez en cuando hago otras cosas.
No soy para nada una experta, ni tan siquiera me considero buena, pero me complacen los resultados que he tenido y siempre trato de hacerlo lo mejor posible.
No suelo coser muy seguido porque daña mis vértebras cervicales. Pero a cada rato me aventuro, aunque lleve después unos días de reposo.
La semana pasada buscando en mis cajones encontré una falda que adquirí hace un tiempo en un mercadillo de moda circular. Aquí en Cuba es muy poco frecuente (para no decir que casi no existen) ese tipo de intercambios. Para mi fue lo máximo, me encanta la idea de intercambiar, reutilizar o transformar, todo lo que pueda dar una segunda oportunidad a una pieza de ropa o a cualquier cosa.
En plena pandemia surgió un emprendimiento aquí en La Habana donde las personas podían intercambiar sus ropas en desuso, pero en buen estado, por alguna que encontraran en ese local. También se podían donar. Desgraciadamente ya no existe, sus dueñas ya no viven en Cuba y no conozco otro que lo haga.
Fui varias veces, doné y cambié otras. Esta falda que les traigo hoy la encontré allí. Era una talla grande, pero para mi idea estaba genial.
Llevaba muchos meses engavetada y la semana pasada salió de su letargo para convertirse en un pantalón ancho para mi hija. A ella le gusta mucho la ropa cómoda, el tejido de rayón de esta falda está perfecto y su estampado a rayas lo hace muy bonito.

It's been a while since I've shared with you my sewing adventures 🤭.
I like to sew, mostly for family and friends, although I do other things from time to time.
I'm by no means an expert, I don't even consider myself good, but I'm pleased with the results I've had and I always try to do my best.
I don't sew very often because it damages my cervical vertebrae. But every now and then I venture out, even if it takes a few days of rest afterwards.
Last week, looking through my drawers, I found a skirt I bought some time ago at a circular fashion market. Here in Cuba is very rare (not to say that almost do not exist) such exchanges. For me it was the best, I love the idea of exchanging, reusing or transforming, anything that can give a second chance to a piece of clothing or anything.
In the middle of the pandemic there was an enterprise here in Havana where people could exchange their unused clothes, but in good condition, for some they found in that store. They could also donate them. Unfortunately it no longer exists, its owners no longer live in Cuba and I don't know of another one that does it.
I went several times, donated and exchanged others. This skirt that I bring you today I found it there. It was a large size, but for my idea it was great.
It had been on the back burner for many months and last week it came out of its slumber to become a wide pant for my daughter. She really likes comfortable clothes, the rayon fabric of this skirt is perfect and its striped print makes it very pretty.
Here is the step by step and the list of materials.
Necesitaremos:
- La falda a reutilizar
- Una pieza de ropa para molde o patrón
- Hilo del color adecuado
- Tijeras
- Máquina de coser
We will need:
- The skirt to be reused
- A piece of clothing for mold or pattern
- Thread of the right color
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
Primeramente separaré la cintura de mi falda y cortaré las partes de mi pantalón. Usaré cada parte de la falda para hacer una pierna, así me evito la costura lateral exterior. Solo tendría que unir los tiros y las partes interiores de las piernas.
First I will separate the waistband of my skirt and cut out my pant parts. I will use each part of the skirt to make a leg, so I avoid the outside side seam. I would only have to join the straps and the inside parts of the legs together.
Con las partes ya cortadas enfrento los derechos de mi tela y coso los tiros delantero y tracero con costura recta, remato con zigzag para que no se deshilache. Después de la misma manera procedo a unir ambas partes por la entrepierna.
With the parts already cut, I face the right sides of my fabric and sew the front and back straps with a straight seam, finishing with a zigzag so that it doesn't fray. Then in the same way I proceed to join both parts at the crotch.
Para hacer la cintura ajustada al cuerpo de mi hija, mido y corto la que quité previamente de la falda. Una vez ajustada a la medida solo queda coserla en su lugar. Hago coincidir los laterales de mi pantalón con las costuras de la cintura. Finalmente toca hacer los dobladillos en ambas piernas. Y estará listo.
To make the waistband to fit my daughter's body, I measure and cut the waistband I previously removed from the skirt. Once the waistband is adjusted to fit, I just sew it in place. I match the sides of my pants with the seams of the waistband.
Finally it's time to hem both legs. And it's ready.
