This is my first post in this community and possibly the last one too as I'm not a gamer and chances for me to play this game are slim to none, but I thought today I make history and log the fun I had during the opening of my two Alpha Vial packs in the big history book of Hive.
Most likely you're sick of the Alpha Vial Opening posts by now, but no problem. Here's another one for you 😂
How It Started
When the news about Holozing broke, there was no way not to find out, unless you were living under the rock (yeah, we have a few species of those on Hive too). As interesting as it seemed, I knew I'm not going to play, but playing the game is not the only way of interacting with it. I see an investment opportunity, so what I did was delegating to the project, to earn some ZING tokens.
Then last December there was the Advent Calendar type of giveaway and I remember I made top of the list with the highest rewards collected. I can't find the post, so you have to take my word for it, or not.
God, it's so difficult to remember what's happened when and why. I may not list things in chronological order, so don't bite my head off, as I'm trying.
I think the discount we got to utilize for Alpha Vials was given based on 2023's Advent Calendar claiming. I know I completed all 31 days and got some % of discount and that made me buy the first pack. Then I bought another as HIVE/HBD conversion was quite favorable at that time and this is how I ended up with two Alpha Vial packs.
The Grand Opening
Last night most of the Alpha Vial pack holders were excited to have the chance to open their packs. The most waited event in Zing history I'd say. It gave PUNK vibes to be honest. I still remember when we minted PUNKs during HiveFest and what a fun it was. However, it gave me anxiety (figuratively speaking of course) as I haven't followed the project as a fan should. I have seen the update posts, but have never been consistent in trying to understand what those things are for.
So this morning, or around noon, to be precise, after watching Acid's video about him opening some packs and explaining what he got and what he could do with the cards, I took a deep breath and opened my two packs and this is what I got.
Most likely half of the pack openers were pleased with what they got, the other half most likely was displeased, as it happens in real life.
I was neither as had no clue if mine was good or bad, so I asked Acid on Discord, if I'm already rich, and he was politely hesitant in confirming my richness 😂
Ok, jokes aside, this is what he said:

Anyway, it was fun to open these two packs and find out what I got.
The Game
Yes, you read it right, but I'm not referring to the game, but the financial part of it, as that's a game too.
I remember I bought my packs when one pack costed around 65 HIVE or so.
Today one pack costs over 169 HIVE as $HIVE is trading at $0.1096 at the time of writing. Yes, 20 HBD has always been 20 HBD, that's true but I suppose it depends on how you get your HIVE and when.
Not long ago, claiming your rewards, which contain in delegation rewards, staking rewards and collection rewards has been changed from hourly to every six hours, to give a chance to smaller stakeholders. Up until then, you could get some advantage by claiming regularly and staking it (which was done automatically).
Today I opted for opening my packs, which means I gave up collecting collection rewards, but I'm fine with this decision as at some point I'm going to benefit from holding creatures and other items.
So far, apart from the two Christmas achievement I've managed to get this badge, which is given out to those who have been a Holozing member for 2 years.
My other achievement is a contributor achievement for those who have 1 million ZING in rewards. At the time of writing I have 1.08m tokens staked.
Gaming is a big industry and has a bright future. I truly hope Zing is going to be successful and is going to bring the gamer community on Hive, which is going to reflect on the price as well.
I hope you opened a pack or two yesterday, or today. If not, there's still time to buy some and open them.

I just opened the packs and this is what I got.

Nope, only if you get some good cards. I remember when we minted PUNKs, I minted 2 as I found out too late about it and didn't have liquid HIVE. I got 2 PUNKs with rep over 280 both. Other got a bunch of garbage.
So it can be frustrating too. 😬
Yeah that's right. But if you manage to win something cool it's like winning a lottery 😅
Opening packs of game cards is always fun for me too.
I haven't opened my Alpha Vials yet. I'll probably open one because the temptation to open it is too strong :)
I'll open the other seven when the distribution of ZING tokens changes.

If you have several, you can open some, just for fun, but you can also hold them to get more ZING.

Thanks for the post and a bit of nostalgia! Just one small correction however, it's not a card game per se, the cards are just how we introduce the items and what holds your creatures and what you capture them in! The game itself you will only see the cards in the hands of the healers as they're trying to figure out what creature to place out in battle next :D
You got a nice bag that'll give you a lot of room in your journey if you decide to give the game a try later + you did get a capture device that only has a 33% chance so not too bad!
and if you absolutely dont wanna play later, you will be able to place most items on the market and/or lease your creatures out to others players wanting to play with alpha creatures!

I'm sure I'm not going to play as I'd like to focus on trading and all my time is dedicated to it, but I'll be a supporter of the project, keep an eye on it and utilize what I have the best way I can.
