Forest Healer

in Holozing Community11 days ago (edited)

Good night or good morning everyone, hope u all doing great.

I made some fan art of Holozing, and this time I decided to focus on the female Healer from the Forest. Like lately, I worked on it in Photoshop, and I wanted to create something of my own, inspired by the character but following my own path and style.

Da week I was quite busy with several things, so the project took me longer than I expected. The video I edited said it took about 16 hours of work, but in reality it was time divided into intervals, between breaks and other projects, so it wasn't continuous hours. In addition, I took screenshots of the same video to show you step by step how the drawing progressed.

To start with, I made some pretty crazy sketches, mainly to position the character and get a general idea of the composition. I wasn't looking for detail at that point, just a basic guide to build on. Then I worked in greyscale until I achieved a more solid structure, which allowed me to move on to colour without any problems. I always enjoy that moment because it's when the character starts to 'take shape' and you really feel your initial idea coming to life.

When I moved on to colour, I focused on shades that conveyed the essence of the character and the forest setting: deep greens, golds, and a few touches of soft light. I wanted the energy of the forest around her to be felt.

I kept the background simple, with soft shadows that suggest the depth of the forest. I didn't want to overload it because she is the protagonist, but at the same time, each element is there to reinforce the magical atmosphere and connection with nature.

The first sketches of the character and what was the initial position were completely editable, because that's how it usually is. As I progress, I change several things that I don't like. Although in reality it wasn't that detailed when it was in greyscale, . On other occasions, yes, I practically just add the colour and that's it, but this time it wasn't that far off with the greyscale.

Oh, byw, this time I've worked on a couple more layers, but not that many, just about three. I've found a couple of quite fun brushes, well, I mean they have some texture and I really like that, so you can get some nice textures with those new ones, although I still only use a couple of them.

I left the face practically until the end, which usually happens. I kept making changes and adjustments to everything. The hair was also one of the things I did almost at the end, as I had only done the basic shape I wanted but nothing too detailed. I left that as a separate layer so I could edit it later.

Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.

Oh, and one more thing before I wrap up...

Good work on the proportions, particularly the torso. Would be easy to hyper-extend it given the pose - you've done an excellent job of non fore-shortening any limbs in your figure study.

As to the colours, these is my favourite palette.
