Good morning, Hive-ians! 😊

We started our week by planting Sweet Corn in our newly widened and lengthened main pasture garden. 😊

We had some eggs to use up this week, so I made us some omelets and egg muffins that took care of a couple dozen and froze some of this for later enjoyment. 😊

The pretty Pansy looking down at her flock mates. 😊

Rebel spending a few minutes hanging out on my handsome husband. 😊

The hatchlings doing their morning stretches before breakfast. 😊

The different types of feathers and varying degrees of fluffiness on their little feet is adorable. I love the puffiness of Ducky and Pansy, but the flippy wings on Nyjer and a few others is neat too. We really love the pheasant-like colouring of Floyd, and our neighbour’s daughter thinks Ducky should have been named Penguin because he’s got penguin colours on his face. LOL! 😊

My scoring skills are not quite what I’d like them to be, but I still try my best to make a nice score pattern, this one didn’t do exactly what I thought it would, but it turned out okay, in my opinion and it tasted great. 😊

These buns were super soft and great for roast beef sandwiches. 😊

Our beautiful sunset colours behind my favourite tree. 😊

Just hanging out on my handsome husband’s foot while we chat. 😊

This brave little gal jumped up from his foot up onto my knee and proceeded to pick through the scoop of food I was holding in my lap. 😊

I don’t know about you, but we think their little faces are adorable, especially this close up. 😊

This little bunny has moved onto our homestead, into our barn or under our hay bales, we aren’t sure, as it’s been seen in both spots, but both our flock and our dogs always let us know when its here. 😊

Our peppers survived their first foray out into the outdoors this week. Can you spot the spicy Ghost Pepper in the bunch 😊

This is as “above” a shot as I could get from my height, of those same peppers, to help you identify them. 😊

These are the buns I made to get us through the weekend, they’ll go nicely with the roast beef in the slow cooker/crockpot. They weren’t shaped as nicely as the previous ones, but the sesame seed spread/ratio was nicer on these ones, to me. 😊

Some freshly baked cinnamon buns to enjoy for dessert. 😊

Pansy and I walking through the garden. 😊

Dot, Ducky, and Floyd enjoying the herb garden. 😊

Squirrel sunbathing. 😊

Is it just me or do these incoming storm clouds look like they’re painted to anyone else? 😊

The first blooms have opened up in the little dog run fence garden bed. 😊

This Tulip should be the next bloom to open in that dog run garden bed. 😊

The Bleeding Heart is doing well and looking lovely this year. 😊

The apple trees are budding up. 😊

We had some crazy wind and rain yesterday, but during lulls in the storm we always had someone stop to say hello and grab a snack, like this soggy gal. 😊

I just noticed, while going through all my pictures from this week, that she’s got a heart-shaped black mark on her nose, that’s something different and will probably provide us with an idea for her name. 😊

Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! I’m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. 😊 God bless you all. 😊 Have an awesome week everyone! 😊

This was really fun to read, I loved all of your photos! The baby chicken was my fave, gotta love the fluff! 😍 Your baking looks amazing too. Here you are talking about score marks, and all I can think is "that looks so yummy!" 😁
Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊
That's so nice of you to say, thank you very much! I know right, they're so cute and it looks like some of them are wearing pantaloons, LOL! 😊
Awe, you're making my day, thank you. I'm not very artistic and am trying to get a bit better at it, but you're right, the bread was tasty and it didn't matter what it looked like. I might need to make another loaf today, or maybe tomorrow. We usually make fresh bread a couple times a week, always on Friday, to get us through the weekend though and I've grown to really enjoy the process of kneading the dough. I find it kind of therapeutic, honestly, just let my mind wander as I'm doing it, it's a great work out and relaxing at the same time. I know that sounds kind of contradictory, but its true. 😊
Feel free to come over to see more pictures of the chicks each week, there will be pictures for at least a few more weeks while we wait for the younger ones to get fully feathered and grow big enough to stand their ground with the main flock, maybe more if Pansy decides she wants to become my house chicken. LOL! 😊
Okay, my tea is gone, so that means it's time to get off the computer and get to work. I'll chat with you again soon. 😊
God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
I hope you had a therapeutic bread day yesterday! I can totally see how the activity would be stress relieving... like a zen garden... with delicious carbs! 😍 Perfect 💕
Excited for my next chick fix hehehe Hope you're staying warm up there (I'm in ohio and I'm freezing today haha)
Bread dough kneading is indeed very therapeutic for hands, wrists, fingers and for me, it also helps me work the kinks out of my stiff shoulders and neck muscles while I'm working the dough; (and if I'm having a bad moment, I get to give the kneading a little extra oomph and work out my frustrations while helping my dough get softer and puffier at the same time. It's a win-win, for me. LOL! 😊
I'm not sure what happened last week...I wrote a blog post, but it never seemed to get posted and has vanished from my blog writings completely. I'll have to try to republish it so you can get your chick fix, though there are a few chick pictures in this one, too. 😊
The wind has been crazy here and it just cuts through any layers we put on. It's been hard getting anything going this week because the winds make planting seeds impossible, unless you didn't mind them planting everywhere and anywhere the frigid winds would take them as you tried. That didn't sound like a good time to us, so we said, no, and its a good thing we didn't do any as we have woken up to frost several times this week and still have at least another one to come before the end of this month. I wear two vest, two shirts and a sweater most of the time around here, though there are a few days each year that I end up in just a t-shirt and pants (too many mosquitoes to go around in shorts for this grandma, they love my pasty white redheads flesh), but that's rare. Though I'm in menopause now and the hot flashes are hitting more frequently, maybe this will be the year I don't wear sweaters most of the summer. This grandma can dream, right? LOL! 😊
You have what looks like a comfortable looking homestead. A lot of effort and dedication has to go into a labor of love lie you have there. Much respect to you and your husband. Is he a vet too? I ask because of the boots look like military issue.
All the animals look so at peace around you like they have no fear at all. This only comes when they are treated with kindness, love, and respect. It is obvious to me they get that at your home.
Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊
Yes we do, we (the royal we as he does all the heavy lifting on his own) have done a lot of work to get this place where it is. We started with just a chunk of wild land and it has become our sanctuary. God knew we needed it after the lives we lived before moving here. Yes we are both Veterans, good catch on the boots. Those boots are older than our two adult children and are on their last legs, which is too bad, he finds them to be the most comfortable boots he owns. It would be nice if I could find him another pair, the odds are not in our favour for finding another pair, but I'll look once I have the cash to pay for them if I'm blessed to find them. 😊
Awe, thank you for saying that. We do try to give them good lives while they're with us, no matter how short or long their stay ends up being. My handsome husband gets quite attached to them all, and I've learned to have affection for them, but not form that deep a bond with the ones that might end up predator food or in the freezer...though there are a few chickens that I'd be super sad to see go either of those ways, but I'm prepared for such occurrences when they come. All homesteaders need to be ready for that, if they're going to have animals/fowl of any kind, as it happens and you never know when. It's kind of like the military motto of "hurry up and wait", LOL! 😊
Okay, I've been on here longer than I was supposed to be, so I've got to go start my spring cleaning. Chat with you again later. 😊
God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
The sunset behind your favorite tree was so calm and pretty. It's amazing how fast chicks change from fluffballs to gawky teenagers. Wish my bleeding heart looked as good as yours! And we have a LOT of rabbits this spring.
Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊
I know right, that's how I feel every time I look over at my favourite tree, no matter the time of day or weather. She just brings me peace and lets me breath when I see her. 😊
So true about the chicks. The bigger ones got a field trip out to the main coop to see how the flock would take to them. They didn't like Dot or Duo at all, bot of them got beat up, but the others were fast enough to keep away from any aggressive future flock mates. The chicks were all happy to go back to the brooder box when my handsome husband went to get though. 😊
That seems to be a really great spot for our bleeding heart, she's been very happy there for the past couple of years and just gets nicer looking each spring, like the rhubarb that we have at the end of that same garden bed. 😊
That bunny was back again this morning, driving our flock crazy over by the barn and of course, I lost sight of it while I was trying to get my camera out and focused enough to take a picture of them, which meant no picture was taken. LOL! 😊
Okay, now, I really do have to get off this computer. I'm being yelled at inside my own head. OCD is rude, I'm just saying. LOL! 😊
God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
