Success in the Crypto Game Space

in Blockchain Gaming3 years ago (edited)

So you are interested in the concept of crypto games; you got lucky and discovered the best attempt in the space BUT you don't know much about cryptocurrency and you have some questions. Well, you just got even luckier because you also found a decent writer who's been trading and analyzing cryptocurrency for years.

After playing Skyweaver for a couple of months, I've noticed that it has ALL the markings of a great game. The user interface is well-designed and smooth, the servers are consistent, the artwork is unique, the audio design is fitting, the mechanics are deep, and the balancing is reasonable. However, I have invited a few people to play the beta with me and I've noticed that they share a lack of understanding concerning the cryptocurrency aspect of Skyweaver. I believe that the tutorial for this game should include a walkthrough of how to use your Sequence Wallet. Sure, they've released content telling new players how to use their wallet but you have to read through old posts containing an overwhelming amount of information where some of it is focused on the wallet and some of it is not. So since the tutorial doesn't cover this information, I decided to create my own guide for new players, specifically focused on how to utilize one of the most underrated features of this crypto game.

What is the Sequence Wallet?

When you first sign up for this game, you will be asked to create an account through 'sequence.app' and upon doing so, you will have created a personal wallet is accessed in-game. It connects you to the Polygon or Ethereum network, depending on your personal preference. I encourage each player to do their own research on these networks simply because they will become more important to society as the value of cryptocurrency is recognized but ultimately the choice is minor. After going through the process you will be able to access your personal Sequence Wallet, congratulations!

The Sequence Wallet is an application that stores all of the assets a player earns in this game. Using cryptocurrency terminology, you can call it a hot wallet. It can be accessed from anywhere within the Skyweaver app/website by clicking the wallet icon shown in the image below. The basic information concerning your Sequence Wallet can also be found displayed at the top of your Skyweaver profile- information such as how many collectible cards (NFTs) you have, how much they are worth in fiat, how many DAI coins you have, and the address of your personal wallet.

Anything in your Sequence Wallet belongs to you. This aspect of Skyweaver is one of the features that makes it unique. Usually in digital card games, the assets that a player earns ultimately belong to the company that maintains the game. This means that the player cannot trade those assets and if the game dies, those assets will be taken from the player. In Skyweaver, you can take those assets onto exchanges meaning that not only can you trade them for in-game items, you can also trade them for cryptocurrencies that exist outside of Skyweaver! This is an extremely exciting application of ideas for somebody like me who has participated in the exponential growth of the crypto space; and because the game is fun, it makes me bringing other people into that growth much easier.

Navigating Your Sequence Wallet

You will receive 50 DAI coins as soon as you create your Skyweaver account. These can be used in the Skyweaver 'Market' to buy in-game NFTs (such as Silver/Gold cards) at prices that are driven by the player base. At the moment of this writing, Skyweaver's economy is temporary which is why the coin is calld tDAI instead of just DAI. tDAI is being used by the game developers to test and work out as many kinks as possible before the soft launch of the game. Once the soft launch happens players will use DAI which I will discuss in the next section following how to navigate this thing. Let's begin.

screen_shot_2021_08_02_at_2.28.33_am.png

At the bottom of your Sequence Wallet you'll find 3 icons. These are the main tabs that you will use to navigate your wallet. The first tab 'Wallet' displays your wallet address as a long string of characters which can be given to anybody else with a cryptocurrency wallet, think of it almost like a CashApp/Venmo/Zelle username. The tab also shows you how many coins and/or collectibles you own. Although DAI is the native cryptocurrency for Skyweaver, you can use your Sequence Wallet to store and trade any other cryptocurrency asset. Under the Balance category you can see how much fiat your entire Sequence Wallet portfolio is worth and even use the Send, Receive and Scan buttons to quickly trade assets. Selecting a coin under the Coins category (e.g. Test Dai) shows you a log of your transactions using the coin. You will be given the option to 'Send tDAI' to a different wallet address. This means that you can transfer your coins to a different hot wallet, a cold wallet, an exchange, or any other person you meet who has a cryptocurrency wallet- regardless of whether they play Skyweaver! All you have to do is indicate how many of your coins you want to send as well as which address you are sending them to. This can be done by copying and pasting the address straight from a player's profile (or elsewhere when transferring assets outside of Skyweaver), scanning a QR code or pulling up your contacts and clicking a name. The exact same concept can be applied to the Collectibles category. Here, you will find your Silver/Gold cards which can be sent and received between wallet addresses. In other words, you can send cards to people who don't even play the game just like you might give a physical card to a friend. It's a revolutionary feature and I believe that if our community really understands and uses it, it would quickly blow this game sky high.

The second tab is 'History' and it is pretty self-explanatory. It displays a secure log of your Sequence wallet transactions and because this wallet is blockchain technology, your transactions can ALWAYS be found. They are public and this means that if you ever have a dispute about your economic interaction with a player (or any entity for that matter), the receipts are unable to be altered and available for anybody to see. Transparency is one of the strongest benefits of the cryptocurrency space, beyond gaming. This concept contributes to the strong security of the technology and explains why many wealthy entities have decided to invest in the space.

The third tab 'Contacts' is simple enough. You can Add New Contact by clicking the corresponding button and paste the person's address along with a nickname (ie their real name or their in-game name) so that you can recognize it. After adding a contact, you can click their name and send assets to them directly from this tab. Now that you understand how to use your Sequence Wallet, you may want to understand more about the actual

What is DAI & Where Can I Use It?

If you know very little about cryptocurrency, you probably think you know that the space is volatile. The brilliance of stablecoins like DAI is that they are... stable. They aim to keep their value at about $1 USD no matter what. My first exposure to a stablecoin was something called Tether (USDT) and I've got to say that this one seems better in every way. The decentralization of it is a major plus AND it uses smart contracts to maintain its stability. In other words, you can use it to buy/sell/trade without ever worrying about how much it's worth.

At the moment of this writing, two of the three exchanges I frequently use support DAI- Coinbase and KuCoin. Coinbase is the more popular one and any American who gets into cryptocurrency will probably have an account or at least heard of it. You can actually get free DAI coins through Coinbase by watching a few videos and answering a short quiz after each one. KuCoin is less popular as an exchange but it is my most preferred exchange out of the dozen or so that I've used. I tend to find many more coins through KuCoin and the fees are low/non-existent.

Ending Comments

Hopefully this guide was enough to help new Skyweaver players figure out the economy aspect before the game soft launches. If you have any questions I did not cover, please let me know in the comments below or reach me on Discord @ Esblue#5778. Also, look out for more upcoming posts about Skyweaver! The next one will probably be about the most recent major patch. Until then, enjoy yourself and keep growing.
