Hi all,
Three days ago I finally got my first piece. While I had this on my mind for quite some time - I also needed some time to pull the trigger.
Final result;

Idea:
I wanted to do a sunrise piece that included the silhouettes of my family.
For me the sunrise means a lot!
For example:
- the symbol of new beginnings! Regardless of how difficult your day feels at a given time , tomorrow is a brand new day!
- my wife used the song Sunrise from Norah Jones on our wedding day to walk down the aisle.
Process:

My visit to tattoo studio “The Rose and the Tulip in Rotterdam”
- after hosting a hive design contest to get inspiration, I turned to some different black and white tattoo artists in the wider area and discussed the idea.
- I received different ideas that could work and started playing around with chatgpt to get a more concrete idea on the design I really liked.
- I contacted one of the artists again, based on recommendations from close friends that had quite some work done by a studio in Rotterdam.
- picked a date roughly 2 months in advance. Provided some family photos.
- 3,5h session: starting with finalizing the concept - sunrise in the background should highlight the family photo, we set the size and location (and direction).
- Started with the silhouettes, after that we used the stamping of the background to determine the correct angle for the sun. Working on the background and finishing with some white highlights to accentuate the depth a bit.
- will keep it like this for 3 weeks to allow it to recover a bit. After that I get another session to see where some tune up is needed and also to see if we need more white (as that quickly turned red during the session)
Loved every bit of this experience and the result.
Edit: recovery process
Saterday (day 4)

Washing it and using bepanthen aftercare 4x a day. I did notice losing some excess ink but no itching or pain at all, seems to be healing perfectly fine!
Greetings @rainbowdash4l, Welcome to the Tattoworld community.
Congratulations on your first tattoo, and for taking this lifelong decision seriously.
Your tattoo is a transcendental symbol of what family means to you. Its meaning and design are beautiful. Follow the tattoo artist's recommendations so that your skin heals well.
It's a shame you didn't take more photos of the process or the tattoo parlor. In our community, we have a rule of at least three photos, but thank you for sharing anyway.
Thank you for your reply! I edited the post to include my visit and recovery so it has 3 photos! But will definitely make more photos on the tune up session
Great! Thank you very much. 😉
I really liked the design, especially because you include so many things that are important to you in one tattoo.
From the looks of it, it has been healing quite well.
Hello, I'm really like you always with the idea of a tattoo and I still can't get the time.... I am very happy to read your process, it is really very beautiful and the meaning is very touching. Like you I am a fan of sunrises. A hug❤️
Thank you for your kind words!!
