AMIGAS QUE SANAN [Esp/Eng]

Those people who come our way when everything goes wrong ... they become healing souls.

Hello greetings to this beautiful community of Holus and Lotus, this is my first post here and very happy to be able to share with you a life experience with my healing friends.

I can divide my life in Venezuela in two parts: before 2016 and after 2016 before 2016 we had a prosperous and abundant Venezuela, during this time I got married and had my two daughters.

They were years of progress and economic growth, during this time our work and effort were represented in the acquisition of goods, comfort in the monthly expenses related to food, health and education.

There was also space for recreation, having the opportunity to take vacation trips up to twice a year. This was a time when the idea of the dream of getting married, having a home and having children was lived to the fullest.

However, after or after 2016, the most intense crisis of my country without precedent began.

We would never have imagined getting to where we are now. Little by little and very subtly we were losing economic and social spaces that began to affect our emotional well-being.

Nights were spent with thoughts that only focused on one thing: how to get money to go on with the life we had.

We began to lose health benefits; on the one hand, we no longer had health insurance and on the other hand, public institutions began to lack basic health care supplies.

We lost purchasing power benefits, since our income was no longer sufficient to supply the basic food and hygiene basket.

And finally, recreational benefits where it became impossible to go out, to the point that eating an ice cream was no longer in the budget... This is how my depression process began...

I think that many Venezuelans developed resilience, really being in the middle of such a difficult situation and not falling into an emotional storm was almost impossible.

So, in view of the emotional imbalance I was experiencing, I had to go in search of wellness and mental health.

However, for some months I felt so hopeless, sad, depressed; I did not want to do anything but lie down and cry every so often.

This is where the role of many friends came in, women who were in the same country suffering the same thing but understanding that we could not give in to the situation.

I have several but in this post I want to talk about my work colleagues, I had the opportunity to enter to work in the educational zone of my state, I was coordinator of elementary schools in the state.

When I joined the coordination the first one I met was Eloana, a wonderful secretary, responsible and very professional, we automatically clicked, then another secretary called Carymar joined, she is a little younger but very eager to learn, proactive and always very willing.

I was asked to join me in the coordination of a teacher, so I suggested my friend and teacher Yamilet and finally the office next to the preschool coordination required another teacher and I suggested Mariela, also a co-worker. Both teachers were of great support to me when I was director of the school.

We started our educational work in the coordination and for social issues we planned to meet once a month to celebrate birthdays, including the head of the Division and the coordination of initial and special education.

We established a day at the end of the month and everyone brought something to share and of course the cake that could not be missed.

I remember that in addition to the birthdays in the month of December we had a typical Christmas gathering with hallacas, porche crema and other typical Christmas foods.

Time went by and the personnel also changed, there came a time when we were no longer the same as the Division, but what we never stopped doing was to continue meeting.

Even I left the coordination and Yuraima, a teacher who came from Sucre, joined us. But she made a match with us and especially with those who had stayed in the division.

It is then when Yamileth, Eloana, Carymar, Mariela, Yuraima and I continued with the custom of meeting once a month, this time regardless of whether or not there were birthdays, it should be noted that we always met at Elo's house, since it was the house that was close to the educational area and we had easy access. And that we did it in spite of the economic situation, we always looked for a way to get the money and contribute to our meeting, which although it implied an economic expense, it was like going to therapy.

In addition to this we made a WhatsApp group "Las Muñecas" to keep in touch. This group served among other things to make mental health challenges.

Many times we carried out these challenges of several days where gratitude and positive mind were encouraged, with this we tried to counteract how bad we were having it economically and the many shortcomings that we were presenting.

So we dedicated ourselves to make our challenges with our tasks all oriented to counteract the anxiety and depression that the day to day was generating us.

On the other hand we extrapolated our meetings, now we also planned to go for example to the beach and spend a different day.

And that was how in every meeting or in the WhatsApp group we could unburden ourselves when we were in crisis. That was and still is a place where we can drain our joys but also our fears and frustrations.

This way we could give each other encouragement, helping each other when someone fell into depression or sadness. Always with the goal of being grateful and giving thanks for what we had and not complaining about what we didn't have.

I think that was one of the ways I was able to overcome my depression, it was impressive how we filled each other with words of encouragement, growth, hope, faith, which gave us emotional well-being and thus physical and family well-being.

The last meeting we had in March coincided with the date of my birthday and my trip to Argentina, so that day we got together and shared. A special detail is that my cake was decorated with coffee figures because they know how much I love it.

With them I learned among so many things that: I could not change the situation, but it depended on me how I faced it.

They were my help in those moments of crisis and despair, they were a pillar for my emotional health in those moments.

Currently they continue to meet and although I am not in the country I talk for a while by videoconference and I am present at the meetings.

I am so grateful for those women who to this day are still there, still listening to my fears but also to my hopes and accomplishments.

Gracias.
