@damarysvibra’s proposal invites us to look water and air in the eye, reminding us that major transformations don’t happen on days of absolute stillness, but only after a storm batters the landscape.
We read about nocturnal storms that rattle our windows and wake us up, forcing us to look at what dwells within. And it is impossible not to carry that image over into our own life journals.
There are seasons when the storm isn't meteorological, but deeply internal. It settles into the daily routine through very concrete fronts: the relentless search for a job that never quite materializes, the tightness of money that seems to evaporate between our hands, and the subtle yet firm warnings of a body going through early sarcopenia, demanding attention and forcing us to slow down when we would still love to stride across the world.
Added to that is the echo of loneliness, a presence that sometimes anchors itself in the corners of the house and weighs as heavily as economic uncertainty.

Going through these gray days, it is inevitable to look back. Sometimes, rummaging through drawers or digital galleries, we come across photographs from past stages. In them, I saw a woman who believed she had everything figured out, a younger version of myself who felt immensely happy, untouchable, the absolute owner of the board. With naivety right at the surface, I thought the entire world was at my feet, that my lucky star would never burn out, and that God walked hand in hand with every decision—even those that today, with the perspective of the years, are recognized as monumental missteps and errors.
Back then, unconsciousness was a protective mantle. Consequences weren't measured, tomorrow wasn't thought of, and we walked along the ledge with a lightness that today, seen from a distance, sends shivers down the spine. Today, those youthful mistakes sometimes feel like heavy shackles around the ankles, tangible reminders that missteps leave a mark and that the price of impetuosity is paid in full in the present. It is easy to fall into the trap of self-flagellation, of looking in the mirror and demanding answers from that yesterday-version for not having known better.

However, that is where the metaphor of the storm takes on a sacred meaning. Nature doesn't apologize for raining with fury; it simply overflows the rivers, sweeps away the old, purifies the stagnant ground, and cleanses the stale air. Current difficulties, no matter how painful and uncomfortable they may seem, are fulfilling that exact same purifying function. The sweeping waters do not seek to destroy for the sake of destruction; they carry away the remnants of obsolete illusions, shatter the armors of pride, and leave me naked, human, and above all, very real in front of the mirror.
True relaxation, as is well reflected upon through biodanza, is not born from repressing pain nor from forcing an artificial smile while we crumble inside. Genuine peace requires giving an outlet to catharsis. It is necessary to allow ourselves to feel nostalgia, to cry over yesterdays that will never return, to accept the weight of loneliness, and to acknowledge physical or economic limitations without dressing them up in euphemisms. Only when we face discomfort head-on and let out the storm we carry within does the body release its tensions and true self-regulation begin to descend.

Little by little, the pressure eases. The inner sky begins to clear. We understand that those mistakes of the past were not a curse, but the harsh lessons that forged the resilient, conscious, and mature woman who writes today. Shackles weigh less when they are understood as part of the learning process, and loneliness ceases to be a threatening emptiness to become a space for intimate self-reconnection.
In the end, the breath of air always returns. Life shows us that storms are temporary and that days of clarity far outweigh the temporary downpours. Even though a job hasn't arrived yet and challenges remain, the simple act of breathing lightly, valuing a hot coffee, tenderly caring for this changing body, and embracing the present with all its scars, hands the compass back to me. The storm has passed, it swept away what no longer served, and it left me ready to inhabit calm with a clean soul and an open heart for what is yet to come.

Wow, your words perfectly describe a feeling that has been dominating my days lately. I admit I let myself get swept up in the chaos a few weeks ago, but as you rightly say, that catharsis was necessary to make way for the peace I always knew was within me. Yes, we get overwhelmed when nature itself lashes out, but deep down, we have control over ourselves; to weather any storm, we simply need to center ourselves again. I loved this reflection and am so glad I came across it. Hugs, Purrix!
