Last week I visited Parque del Este and also took the opportunity to walk through Parque Simón Bolívar, which is accessed from a large pedestrian bridge that connects the two sites.
La semana pasada estuve por el Parque del Este y también aproveché para pasear por el Parque Simón Bolívar, al que se accede desde un gran puente peatonal que conecta los dos sitios.
Inaugurated in 2018, this park is located at the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base in La Carlota, an airport that was created in 1946 for civilian and military use and is currently only used for certain military purposes and aeromedical flights, since a few years ago the government decided that these spaces should be destined for public use.
Inaugurado en 2018, este parque se encuentra en la Base Aérea Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda de La Carlota, un aeropuerto que fue creado en 1946 para uso civil y militar y que actualmente sólo se utiliza para determinados fines militares y vuelos aeromédicos, ya que hace unos años el gobierno decidió que estos espacios se destinaran para el uso público.
As you walk over the bridge, there is an incredible panoramic view of the highway, something that stands out there is a large round figure, it is the Caracas Sphere, the work of Venezuelan Jesús Soto, one of the greatest exponents of kinetic art.
Al ir caminando sobre el puente, hay una increíble vista panorámica de la autopista, algo que destaca allí es una gran figura redonda, es la Esfera Caracas, obra del venezolano Jesús Soto, uno de los más grandes exponentes del arte cinético.
I walked to the center of the bridge to photograph the movement of vehicles passing underneath. On either side are tall metal fences to protect people.
Caminé hasta el centro del puente para fotografiar el movimiento de vehículos que pasaba por debajo. A ambos lados hay unas cercas metálicas altas para proteger a la gente.
In the middle there is an oval part with a grill where you can stand if you want to watch the cars go by from another perspective, under your feet, and also from here there is a spectacular view of the mountain El Avila or Waraira Repano.
En el centro hay una parte ovalada con rejilla en la que te puedes parar si quieres ver pasar los carros desde otra perspectiva, bajo tus pies, y además desde aquí hay una espectacular vista de la montaña El Ávila o Waraira Repano.
Then there is a ramp down to the park, which covers an area of 12 hectares in its first phase. You are first greeted by a small plane, a Skyvan that has been adapted to be an ice cream parlor, too bad I couldn't browse there because it was closed. Things that happen when you go to the park on a weekday at noon...
Luego hay una rampa para bajar hasta el parque, que tiene una extensión de 12 hectáreas en su primera fase. Te recibe primero un pequeño avión, un Skyvan que se ha adaptado para ser una heladería, lástima que no pude curiosear allí porque estaba cerrada. Cosas que pasan cuando vas al parque un día de semana al mediodía...
I had visited this park shortly after it opened, but I saw several new features now, such as exercise areas with machines, a playground, more trees and an Acoustic Shell, which opened just last month, and of course, I wanted to see it live and direct after watching it on television.

I loved the design of the seats, seen from a central point they look like a pyramid of the Mayan or Aztec civilization.

I read that this Acoustic Shell will be the model to build one for each municipality in Venezuela and thus promote cultural activities in all the states of the country, I hope they fulfill it.

I also wanted to show you the artificial lake that is here, but that day they were setting up an event in the park and around it they had placed a lot of stands that prevented it from being seen, so I could only take a picture of some participants of this event that had to do with the agriculture and livestock theme.

Nice! I haven't been to Bogota, but I know that park is very visited there, they do big music festivals and all kinds of activities. Simon Bolivar liberated 5 countries from the Spanish crown, among them Colombia, that's why there are many places with his name around there.

Creo que este es uno de los lugares que debí visitar cuando vivía en Caracas, a pesar de que siempre me manejaba por la zona de Chacao y Altamira que es relativamente cerca (creo). Tiene todos los atractivos posibles, muy lindas fotos @sofathana que tengas un hermoso día 😘
