Hoy estamos de festejo y celebración por ser una fecha que mundialmente es reconocida como "el día internacional de la medicina" en honor al científico cubano Carlos Juan Finlay y Barrés, nacido en Camagüey, en 1833, en igual mes y día, quien descubrió el agente transmisor (mosquito Aedes aegypti) de la fiebre amarilla. Este día es especial, pues se honra a todas las personas que dedican su vida a tratamientos para sanar el cuerpo y la mente en los seres humanos. Muchos han sido los científicos cubanos que han dado grandes aportes en término de salud a lo largo de la historia de la medicina.

I feel proud to be Cuban and to have great figures in all professional fields who put up the greatness of our spirit in the face of any adversity.
Today we are celebrating and celebrating a date that is recognized worldwide as "the international day of medicine" in honor of the Cuban scientist Carlos Juan Finlay y Barrés, born in Camagüey, in 1833, in the same month and day, who discovered the transmitting agent (Aedes aegypti mosquito) of yellow fever. This day is special because it honors all the people who dedicate their lives to treatments to heal the body and mind in human beings. There have been many Cuban scientists who have made great contributions in terms of health throughout the history of medicine.
Los llamados "héroes de bata blanca" se han visto en estos últimos años en muchos escenarios donde han demostrado su fidelidad ante el juramento hipocrático, expresando su amor y pasión por esta profesión y ha sido en su enfrentamiento ante la pandemia devastadora COVID - 19. El desempeño de estos héroes ha sido de vital importancia ante el enfrentamiento de esta penosa enfermedad que ha destrozado la vida de familias enteras.
Cada médico desde su especialidad ha tenido que crecerse profesionalmente para dar lo mejor de sí. Esto ha incluído separaciones físicas de sus familias que necesariamente han tenido que soportar para el cuidado de ambas partes.
No solamente los médicos, sino cada profesional del sector de la salud aporta desde su nicho para tratar de lograr entregar a cada paciente una mejor calidad de vida.
Cada vida salvada, cada paciente que se mejora con un tratamiento o una intervención quirúrgica satisfactoria es el mejor regalo que puede recibir un médico, pues es muestra de la efectividad de su trabajo. Un paciente feliz con el mejoramiento de su salud es la retroalimentación perfecta de cada profesional.
También existen momentos de tristes en esta profesión como son: el deseso de una persona o un tratamiento no efectivo por no reaccionar el organismo como debería hacerlo. Estas son cuestiones con las que debe lidiar, pero no por eso desistir de continuar hacia adelante. Ante las situaciones difíciles se sobreponen y echan hacia adelante con más deseos de ayudar a quien lo necesite. Esto lo hace un verdadero profesional.
Tan noble labor es agradecida por todas las personas, pues todos en algún momento hemos requerido del servicio de estos profesionales que con tanto ahínco se esfuerzan cada día por entregar los conocimientos adquiridos y los pone en práctica, en función del bienestar de la sociedad.
The so-called "heroes in white coats" have been seen in recent years in many scenarios where they have demonstrated their fidelity to the Hippocratic oath, expressing their love and passion for this profession and it has been in their confrontation with the devastating pandemic COVID - 19. The performance of these heroes has been of vital importance in the face of this painful disease that has destroyed the lives of entire families.
Each physician in his or her specialty has had to grow professionally to give the best of himself or herself. This has included physical separations from their families, which they have necessarily had to endure for the care of both parties.
Not only physicians, but every professional in the health sector contributes from his or her niche to try to give each patient a better quality of life.
Every life saved, every patient who improves with a satisfactory treatment or surgical intervention is the best gift a physician can receive, because it is a sign of the effectiveness of his or her work. A happy patient with the improvement of his or her health is the perfect feedback from every professional.
There are also sad moments in this profession such as: the despair of a person or an ineffective treatment because the body does not react as it should. These are issues that must be dealt with, but not for that reason to desist from moving forward. In the face of difficult situations, they overcome and move forward with more desire to help those in need. This is what a true professional does.
Such noble work is appreciated by all people, because we all at some point have required the service of these professionals who strive every day to deliver the knowledge acquired and put it into practice, for the welfare of society.
Días y noches sin dormir y sin descanso procurando mantener un corazón latiendo, estabilizando presión sanguínea, oxígeno constante... Muchos responsables profesionales alrededor de una persona, dando lo mejor de sí para lograr salvar una vida.
Es cierto que es su trabajo y que se les es recompensado por efectuar tal labor, pero detrás de eso está todo el empeño, la dedicación y esfuerzo personal, incluso familiar, que requiere.
A todos los profesionales de la salud de cualquier parte del mundo reciban mis más sentidas felicitaciones por la obra que realizan cada día de sus vidas:

Days and nights without sleep and without rest trying to maintain a beating heart, stabilizing blood pressure, constant oxygen... Many responsible professionals around a person, giving their best to save a life.
It is true that it is their job and that they are rewarded for this work, but behind it all is the effort, dedication and personal effort, even family effort, that it requires.
To all health professionals everywhere in the world, receive my heartfelt congratulations for the work you do every day of your lives:

Tengo dos familiares que son enfermeros y puedo corroborar que es así: su dedicación es absoluta, aunque esto suponga durar varias noches durmiendo una o dos horas. ¡Qué haríamos sin personas como ellos! Yeni,muy bonito que hayas hecho una publicación para homenajear a los médicos cubanos... y bueno, también de manera general. Yo me siento muy orgullosa de ellos. Estuve el viernes en el William Soler en un trabajo y de verdad te digo que yo me emociono al verlos. El hospital estaba impecable y me dejó impresionada.
