Overlooking!

Stone!

I do not want to be cryptic, but I couldn't help. I think people are seriously overlooking Splinterlands land. It is unfortunate, because there are so many other things that are happening in the game right now, that it is very difficult to keep focus, even for a large holder like me. The reasons are all interconnected.

  • Land 1.75 with new natural resources: Wood, Stone, Iron
  • Research and SPS production needing those new resources
  • Conclave Arcana pack set launch, with new Black Foil card type
  • Mid Night potion, which can only be created on Land, and requiring both Research points and those same natural resources

Out of all these the most valuable is Iron in terms of production difficulty. Followed by Stone and Wood.

However, this grain factor plot shows the fair value of each of the natural resources in terms of production difficulty. Notice, that stone is currently trading about 1.8 times its fair value. It doesn't means it is the most highly priced natural resources, but it is most expensive relatively speaking.

image.png

This plot above should help in understanding in terms of raw price which one is most expensive. 1000 iron is 444 DEC, and that is the most expensive natural resources in terms of price. But the reason stone is rallying so much is because there are not enough stone plots active.

image.png

All over Praetoria, people are producing a lot more iron than stone, in terms of natural resources. There are more PP on iron than stone. Plus Aura plots have super boosts, because people want to produce as many potions as possible, as quickly as possible. However, that consumes a lot of resources, including grain.

This is a curious plot. Not many people are familiar with it. This is the Net Production Plot of the resources. Anything positive here, we are creating a surplus stockpile. Anything negative we are depleting the existing stockpile. We all know that there are a lot of grain stockpile and its price is low. But at Praetoria, we are burning through 14M grain every day and increasing now.

So here is an advice. Prices are going to go up. This is a fact. If you don't have grain, start buying grain now, while it is still cheap.

It is a bummer that I don't produce enough stone. My whole region only have 9 stone plots and they are all common. So I am not going to win that battle. But at least I am stockpiling grain.

There you have it. I just bought another 9M Grain! I am burning through them very fast! A big famine in coming guys, get ready, otherwise there will be very little to feed you monsters!

All plots are from here: https://splinter-lands.streamlit.app/

Do you know what the current Pretoria wide Grain stockpile is ?, It would be interesting to see what collective grain-runway we have at the current 14million a day deficit.

I should be OK for stone when I switch back from my mad dash to catch up on Research to get enough to buy my permit, I've thrown the kitchen sink at Research in the very short term. I suspect may others have too.

We also have the unknown requirements for Wagons to come too. I suspect they may be wood heavy, seems logical, but I'm guessing, ofc, that will just be a temporary demand, but it may swing the needle a bit

Off course I do :)

At this rate we run out in 1.4 years. My guess is lot sooner as we have more utility. Well before that people will turn off other items to make grain

Lol!, I didn't doubt it for a second :-)

That is not a long time really in the grand scheme of things, I am sure land will be a much more intricate and interwoven beast by then ,with so many things pulling your resources in different directions.

Can't wait. I actually bought another Grain plot this weekend, and there was me thinking I was done buying land. Initially I only intended to get 2 " to dip a toe in", now I have 34..lol!, but I have no where near enough cards or DEC to get them all going yet

I have just one more stone producer than you hehe.., and a lot less lands. Having them in a region other than your main depends on what you want to do with the stone, if you get my meaning.. 😃

Only 9 stone plots in a whole region?? Man, that's bad luck! I have 10 plots in one region, and from those 8 are of stone; still haven't placed them producing, DEC requirements are a pain.

Do agree with you on this land importance part - and I was one that thought land wouldn't mean anything to me! Fortunately the team is proving me wrong.

Yep, that is indeed bad luck. I do have a few more in a different region though, but that doesn't help much due to transportation cost.

I produce a lot of wood and iron through, which I sell to buy stone.

that doesn't help much due to transportation cost.

Yep, I have same problem; all grain producing plots are in 1 region, the iron and stone on the other; and no wood plots. Already considered swapping 1 stone plot for wood one, but given the difference in materials price it's more worth to keep the stone one and just trade stone for wood.

You couldn't afford to pick up some more land plots or are you trying to keep everything inside of the tract that you own?

trouble is the region. There is no point getting new stone plot in a different region

Okay, that's what I figured.

Stone keeps being my favorite! Why don't you set foot into another region all together, where plots of all kind are for sale?

image.png

That negative net production of grain is just sick. I'm producing enough for all my plots (which isn't that hard...), so I'm kind of good.

After the CA release, I might focus on getting better cards for my land again. Or more CA cards, depending on what I get.

I have stone in other region, and I am self-sufficient. Since I have unused plots remaining, 700 of them! I better use them first, before I buy more.

700??? UNUSED??? Are there even enough cards available to potentially start using them? 🤣

That's 35,000,000 DEC to run them at 100%. With 3,500 maxed cards. You alone can sink a huge part of the DEC minted by burning SPS 🤣

There you go

image.png

Cards need to be bought. 3500 of them

3500 cards to buy, wow you can move the card market just by buying those...

Land is really under developed so far...

I have a few high PP plots that would be producing grain currently producing SPS (including an epic w/ RUNI) because they are occupied. I'm wondering when the tipping point will be, when it becomes more profitable to produce the grain vs. the SPS!

That time is probably a ways out, unless Mancer make more things that people must have today!

I'm definitely not overlooking land, I'm up to 15 plots now but I think only 1 or maybe 2 are stone.
I'll keep an eye out for stone plots coming for sale in the two regions I'm in.

Bringing my plots all online will take a year I think tho 😅

Exciting times ahead! I remember seeing a comment you had on another post.

Right now we are in the accumulation phase.

We gotta keep building!

Yes, we are certainly accumulating and waiting for more uses

Land, ho! Az, you know this community knows little else, if not how to late until the waning, final moments ;)

We'll come around!

Land is becoming more interesting with every update, can’t wait for something to come along that doesn’t use the same recipe of resources like Research/SPS/Aura, may be wagon repair kits will throw a spanner in the works and just use wood and iron!

Lately the development on land is fast with Mancer. We can expect new things in months scale.

It is becoming clearer to me now and it is making more sense. What is Splinterlands without the Lands? I enjoyed the Splinters part and the Land part is coming to fruition. Way to go! Vonak!

Yes, more the land gets integrated to the main game, the better.
