Stats of Splinterlands Cards: An Idea

Those of us who plays the @splinterlands game passionately, are often time thinking how to make the game for complex, more enjoyable, and more demanding. Personally speaking I like card fighting games a lot. I have been playing Pokemon, which is nothing but a card fighting game, just like Splinterlands, for 20 years. I have played almost every version of the Pokemon games (remind me to purchase sword & shield!), and some versions competitively. I was listening to the AMA at the Splinterlands discord server previous weekend, and I asked the following question:

Is it possible to make card stat more complicated....and make the overall gameplay more complicated?

It was nicely answered by @aggroed at the AMA, but mostly the second part of the question, and well documented in the official post here:

However, I didn't explain the first part of the question very well. So I thought I rather do it as a post.

Card Stat

One of the critical element of a card fighting game is the statistics of a card, Stat is short from now on. From a player point of view, that is the most important aspect of the game. Below is one common card from Fire Splinter, The Goblin Shaman. On a default sort, it is the first card that shows up :)

It's 3 Mana, Magic Attacker.

Its Stats are Magic Attack =1, Speed = 4, Health = 6, Shield = 0; at Level 10, which is its max level.

But lets compare that with a Pokemon. A Charizard, which is a Fire-Flying type Pokemon:

Base Stats of a Pokemon is expressed by 6 different elements. HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. You can see their values, for this particular species of Pokemon (yeah, Pokemon have "gold foil" too, its called "shiny", same stats though). You can immediately see the similarities with our Monster card Stats. We have 4 of those elements already covered. And their values increases with level, just like Pokemon.

We have potential to add 1 or 2 additional stats like Special Attack or Special Defense.

You will also notice that Pokemon have abilities, just like Monster cards do. Charizad here has Blaze, and Solar power. Goblin Shaman has Weaken and Slow. No surprise there! Pokemon evolve, but monster card do not, and I think that is fair, as Monster cards are essentially NFT, they are unique. So we can't change that.

However, we can consider something else. A Mega Goblin Shaman. Yeah, right! Wait for it...

Notice the Stats?! They are better than the regular Charizard. Looks different too! They are much rare compared to the Regular version. The difference from the Gold Foil (shiny pokemon) is the Stats. Gold Foil still have the same stats. But Mega Goblin Shaman will have better stats, compared to the regular one.

They are still unique, NFT. No problem. Just another card.

That is all that I was saying....

Possible or not you guys decide...

HiveBuzz Ranking update - New key indicators

I really like the idea of more stats options in / or different game mode.
Lets hope that we see some improvement soon.

Development is time consuming and cost intensive. It is up to the developers to consider it or not. Normally plans like this takes years in development.

Thanks for giving us the exclusive update here. Gracias 💯 💯
