Prologue
The Night Reaper is a Rebellion-Reward-Card that is growing on me more and more every time I play it. It's an incredibly strong card for quite a few szenarios, but my absolute favorite to use in earthquake.
Why? Because it flies AND has Wingbreak, an ability that is just amazing.
Meaning - no matter on what position the Night Reaper is, or what abilities the flying opponent monster has - the Night Reaper attacks that unit, even if it has Camouflage. And does +2 Damage. Isn't that awesome?
But look, level 3 - Reflection Shield! Now this card is even immune against Magic Reflect and Explosion! Awesome. And I can't wait to have it on level 6 - last Stand! If that is activated you have a 6 Magic attack monster with 6 speed, 3 armor and 15 LP. And you can get that as cheap as 15 Mana (with Quix) in current Modern.
Let me show you what I mean in a very short battle.
Round 1 - Click here for Battle Link
Rulesets: Earthquake, Need for Speed and Equal opportunity
Silver League Tournament for Untamed and Rebellion only, 17 Mana.
The opponent did do nice choices in regular cases. The Kelp Initiate is a high speed monster that might evade some attacks and absorb some damage, for only 2 mana. The Halfling is always a great choice for low mana battles, and Commander Slate is just an amazing monster with Demoralize, Dodge and great stats - and choosing Brighton Bloom as a summoner to avoid the earthquake damage, who could blame them? The Night Reaper can. As soon as they fly, the Reaper got its eye on them. And you don't want the Reapers eye on any on of your monsters, oh no.
To start the Ambush Round, the reaper takes out the Kelp Initiate with one blow - 3 damage plus 2 damage as punishment to dare to fly where the Reaper is flying. The Halfling does his part by bringing down the other Halfling's life. So, the real round starts - the reaper goes first (4 speed and epic), ciao Halfling. The commander hits the halfling, but doesn't kill it - and since the halfing heals, he's ready to take another hit even after the eartquake.
Round 2
The commander takes 5 damage from the territorial wasp, and takes out the halfling. But just no more chances left to do any damage. The Reaper won the game - again.
Conclusion
This is definitely one of the strongest cards from the Rebellion-Reward-Set.
I like to use it as a tank as well when I target behind the enemy tank with all other cards. Most tanks are melee, and with flying and 4 speed the Night Reaper has a good chance of evading them, plus it will attack a back-line-monster if it flies, even in first position. Quite awesome.
The combo with Akane is also very powerful. Flying enemies take up to 10 damage very quickly, one might even get a kill before the battle really starts.
The Reaper also works great as a Shield next to a taunt-monster in Explosion-Ruleset (or against Yodin Zaku).
The 11 Mana cost is well deserved and balances the awesome skills out very nicely. A great creation by the team!

And here is one using the Reaper as a tank - again, it attacks the flying monster first: https://splinterlands.com/battle/sm_266mjd049JNgbboTAUiv?ref=beelzael
