in Splinterlands2 years ago (edited)

Hey there my incredible Splinterlands community,
How are y'all today?

First, I want to congratulate all my Indian brothers and sisters on a Happy 75th Independence Day.

Proud To Be An Indian.png

Today is the day, when we not only celebrate our freedom but also remembers those lost souls who sacrificed themselves protecting our motherland India.
I hope you've celebrated well on this prosperous day.

Moving forward, Splinterlands brought another 'Share Your Battle Challenge' and this week's featured theme is DRAGON.

Just like the previous challenges, I'll share my best battle of this week using the summoner and monsters from the Dragon splinter.
I'll also share my strategy, team combination, and thoughts about the Dragon splinter.

So, read on...

Things I Like About Dragons

The best thing about dragons is that they can breathe fire.. Just kidding..
Versatility.. Yes, the best thing about Dragons is that they are versatile.
You can use literally any splinter combined with the Dragon splinter. Also, the majority of the monsters from Dragon splinter are legendary. So, they may be a bit costlier, but they also have many abilities.
Dragon splinter has a wide range of summoners and monsters for every type of attack.
Daria Dragonscale and Camila Sungazer for the melee attack, Selenia Sky and Quix The Devious for the ranged attack, and Delwyn Dragonscale for the magic attack.
The Archmage Arius can be used for all three attacks.
Moreover, with a bit more mana cost, you can build a deadly team from the Dragon splinter.

My Strategy and Team Setup

SUMMONER

DELWYN DRAGONSCALE

Delwyn Dragonscale.png

When battling, I always preferred magic attack monsters. And in this battle, there was no exception.
And for a magic-attack-based team, Delwyn Dragonscale was my preferred summoner. +1 magic buff of this summoner will increase the attack power of my team.

TEAM SETUP

As I said earlier, my first preference is magic attack based monsters. But the battle was low to mid to high mana cap battle. That's why I had to choose my team carefully.
Gold Dragon was the best monster for this purpose. This monster costs 7 mana and has 8 health and 3 magic attacks.
The three abilities, 'heal', 'blast' and 'flying' , makes this card perfect for the tank position.
Next there is Black Dragon. Costs 6 mana, this card has less strong stats than the Gold Dragon, but it has 4 abilities, 'flying', life leech', 'slow', 'strengthen'. A perfect card for the second position.
In the third and fourth position, there is the Creeping Ooze and the Furious Chicken.

So, this was my final team -

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy worked perfectly in this battle.
Placing a monster with heal ability in the tank position was definitely the best idea. The Gold Dragon healed itself several times throughout the battle.
Its blast ability did additional damage to the monsters in the second position in the opponent team and flying ability makes opponent's Scavo Firebolt missed his attack on the Gold Dragon.
The Black Dragon also did great job by slowing the opponent down. Without this, the Gold Dragon wouldn't survive the first round because the opponent's monsters will most probably attack first as the opponent used Pyre as the summoner.
The Creeping Ooze did the same thing by slowing down the opponent's cards.
Using 5 mana cost Delwyn Dragonscale as the summoner was the best idea in this low to mid mana cap battle. But with this perfect strategy, I won the battle.
