At the beginning of the season it did not take me long to get a win streak going in silver league. By middle of the week I was hovering outside of the top 100 in overall ranking. I feel silver league was the best fit for me at where I stand in gaming and card collection.
Silver League Cap
I can not emphasize enough how different silver league game play is with the card's limited in level per rarity being very low. Especially the rares capped at level 4 and the epics capped at 3. A lot of cards having their second and third abilities essentially unusable.
Take for instance a good tank card in Silvershield Paladin. It will not have reflect ever when played in silver league as its level is capped at 4. There are many cards that gain an additional ability right at where silver league levels are capped. All this makes the game play different from the higher leagues. I feel gold to diamond game play when taking abilities into consideration not as different. Furthermore diamond and champion have no difference in level caps.
Above and Beyond
In ranking ratings it appears top 100 silver players exceed the threshold of being in the league by a wide margin. What I mean is that in order to advance from silver to gold a player needs to get a rating over 1900. Not only are all the top 100 over that rating, but top 10 are near a rating or over 2500.
That essentially drops top players into Gold I league if they choose to advance in the middle of the season. The push to be the best in each league has high expectations.
Conclusions
With a little over four days left in the season I remain close to the top 100. However what I have found is that one loss can essentially bring me down 10 to 20 spots. In fact there were moments where I was able to reach as how as top 60 only to fall back down into the 100s once I lost consecutive battles.
What I am trying to get here is I may have overlooked the challenges and style of game play in silver league. Especially at the top of the ranking board the battles are neck and neck and plenty of players have capped level cards within the league.
Above all else the capped levels essentially take away abilities that are not seen in the higher leagues. It has its benefits and draw backs but at the end of the day its a different way to play the game. I mostly been playing through gold league all year round but now diving and sticking to silver to see how I will finish. In four days I will report back on my progress again.

The push for the rankings is quite tough and modern is even tougher as the top 30 or so get DEC rewards. At least the benefit of doing the challenge is that you could always advance and get that higher league reward if you don't feel that you will make it.
