RE: Today is the start of a new era in Splinterlands

Hmm, I actually am not sure if this is a good or bad move to distribute SPS as rewards.

I actually don't think it is a major issue for bots though. They have withstood so many changes and updates and we still see them going strong in the game, while on the flip side, I have seen friends of mine (real humans) giving up playing the game and just rent out their cards instead. The bots only need to endure some waiting time for the first month, and subsequently, they get to cash out the SPS as usual (just lagged for 1 month). Going by what happened to DEC, I think the price of SPS will start to fall over the next few weeks once the bots start to cash out.

Hmm likewise for the rewards, I see that they use 0.07 for the price of SPS to calculate the rewards. SPS is actually about 0.059 now, about 15% down. DEC has gone up about 30-40%. Bringing both together, it's actually not true that the rewards have "doubled". In fact, I think the price of SPS and DEC will adjust in such a way that the amount of rewards will end up being the same. From a logical perspective, there's no free lunch, otherwise, Splinterlands could have just 10x or 100x the rewards by giving out more SPS to make everyone happy - it doesn't work that way.

Am not sure if I am only one that thinks like this. No idea where SPS will be in the coming years, I just play the game leisurely for fun these days.

I think it's actually good that DEC will be independet from the game without rewards paid to it. The reason behind this thought is that the team only needs to give value to the SPS token. It's kind of half the work. On the other side if SPS drops too much in value it could endager the whole game.

Yeah I agree :)
